I lucked into finding Neal's Garage a few years ago when I was sick of getting huge repair bills from my dealership. These guys do great work, are trustworthy, reliable, and have fair prices. I highly recommend using Neal's Garage for everyday car repair needs. They have also have an easy appointment scheduling system on their website!

Hardworking shop, honest about repairs and doing what's right by the customer. It was my first experience with the shop on my daughters "old" but "new to her" car and despite some challenges with part delays and other work, they maintained great communication and got the job done.

I have taken a couple of my cars to Neals Garage over the years. They are very nice, honest, and provide great service. Always take the time to explain the problem and suggest the most important fixes vs. what maybe can wait until next time. They complete service in a timely manner and it hasn't ever taken more than a day or two to fit me into the schedule. I highly recommend. I will continue to take my vehicles to them whenever I have a problem.

If the actions of the individual driving the company’s car in Florida on Thanksgiving are any indication of the courtesy and professionalism of the business, then there is no way I would ever trust this company with my vehicle. Swerving in and out of traffic with no turn signal, brake checking people and flipping off anyone who “dared” look at them due to their actions, hopefully the FHP caught up to them after the actions were reported.

Staff is friendly and outgoing but the actual service was disappointing. I had my rotors replaced and when I drove it off the lot, it immediately started making a horrible noise. I brought it back and they hoisted it up again. When it came back, my shifter was dislodged and the leather inside of my car was full of grease. These were by no means fatal errors, just a bit careless and a simple apology would have been appreciated. They were more expensive than other places I called but I figured for the extra money I would get some piece of mind. I really wanted to make this my new go-to spot but unfortunately that wont be the case

Refuse to work on vehicles prior to 2005. My 2003 mercury marauder I have owned since new does not meet their standards. Waisted a trip to neal's. Thank you Roger for waisting my time.

Neil’s Garage is my go-to spot for oil changes, inspections, any work or questions I have about my car. Treat their customers very well and they’re courteous. Marshall is the manager and will take care of you! Highly recommend.

I took my car to Neal's in April 2025 because the air conditioning on my car was not working. They drained, refilled and pressurized the coolant system, which got the AC working again, but did not tell me that the underlying problem was a leaking condenser. Based on the information they provided, I assumed that the issue was fixed. Then, four months later, the AC failed again. I had to go to another mechanic to find out that the condenser needed to be replaced. This was after Neal's charged me almost double what I usually pay for a routine oil change and tire rotation. Lesson learned - I won't be back!

I stopped by Neal’s Garage to ask them to check to see if my oil was leaking before driving my car to D.C. Despite being VERY busy they came out and instantly checked my oil. I offered to pay them and was told no need. I was able to drive with peace of mind. This is such a great place, honest work is done and the staff goes above and beyond, just to be nice. I highly recommend and I will be back - and happy to pay for my next service! Thanks again, Anne Dowling

I can’t say enough good things about Neal’s Garage! My vehicle started shaking pretty badly once I hit about 55 mph, and I was worried it was something major. I brought it in, and they were able to diagnose the issue quickly and get me back on the road in no time. The customer service was absolutely top-notch—friendly, honest, and professional. Best of all, the pricing was fair and transparent, which is hard to find these days. I highly recommend Neal’s Garage to anyone needing trustworthy auto repair. These folks know what they’re doing!

After being in Durham going on 3 years now, I finally found the right auto mechanic. If I could give these guys six stars I would, and after the last experience I had where I took my car to carmedix only for them to not have fixed my car after literally 8 visits and about 2500 dollars (check out my Carmedix review if you're in the mood for a good horror story) But I digress... Everyone at Neal's was courteous, professional, kind, and polite and they gave me a loaner car for a few days while they waited for an OEM part I had specified to come in from the manufacturer. Thank you very much!! Awesome all around.

Neals garage is a great garage. They found and repaired leaking shocks, and worn breaks. And they allow payment by bank card so you do not have to pay the credit card fee.

I went in because of vibration when braking my 2027 Tesla Model S. It has never had brake work, so I was braced for a hefty repair bill. They told me that the rotors were a little warped, but unless it really bothered me, there was no need for a repair. When was the last time the garage told you to save your money? They earned customer for life today.

My husband and I decided to go to Neal's after our more local mechanic downtown moved farther out. Initially just oil changes and inspections. Then my husband's car had issues. They milked that issue into 3 different repairs - totaling $2200. Finally, before the last repair, my son-in-law took a look at the car and identified the issue (as it turns out, correctly). So when I took it in to get that fixed, we had success. I probably should have stopped there, but I went back for oil changes as it was just easier. Two 'appointments' in a row we just blown through as 'oops'. I walked around for an hour, killing time on 9th street in the cold and rain, only to find out they hadn't gotten to it. Ok, shit happens. But then they did it the second time - on the return appointment. The ultimate audacity was they were a bit puzzled that I was unhappy. So no - I'm done with Neal's. Cause it's one thing to get a diagnosis wrong, but basic service and respecting customer's time - that's totally 'fixable'.

So state inspection time was coming up and my car had been showing me the check engine like (aka “you shall not pass”). Donnie and the team at Neal’s have been amazing! Navigating the multiple repairs, diagnostics, and DMV was extremely painful, but I can’t say how much I want to thank Donnie for putting in the countless hours they did to keep my beater car up and running (for a relatively little amount of money).

Car dropped off on 11/10/2025 Got back 02/16/2026 Drove a total of 26 miles Dealer 02/23/2026 Got back 03/03/2026 Ac and reservoir 03/05/2026 Neals garage in durham Misdiagnosed issue. Botched recommended repair. Held vehicle for 2 months before starting additional repairs needed from botched recommended repair. Expected full payment for original service, additional repairs and 3rd service which I wasn't made aware of until picking vehicle up. To their credit, they did meet me half way on price for everything after first service. Vehicle repair not completed correctly so I had to take vehicle to dealership for additional repairs to finish their repairs. AC was not working(compressor unplugged) easy fix Coolant reservoir not reinstalled during repairs so coolant was spraying on engine compartment and only noticed because AC wasn't working. Basically took it in to be diagnosed, turned into $1600 fix. That turned into a 3month repair which they tried charging $4200(only charged $2100) additional and threw an alternator in for $700(they took that off entirely) Had to go to dealer cause car was running worse when I left than when I originally brought it in. That cost an additional $1480. AC being recharged and plugged in was $175 Reservoir was $23 I installed myself. Entirely frustrated with whole experience. I didn't typically leave negative reviews or reviews at all, but after talking to dealership and other mechanics I was recommended to go to small claims court or have a case heard with a magistrate to get everything refunded and reimburse except for the original $1600, haven't decided if the time and additional annoyance is worth the possible $3780.
