I have a slow rim leak and I tried to take it into Pep Boys in Elgin today. I only have 1 leak in 1 tire and I tried to bring it in to be repaired. Instead, the mechanic said that all 4 tires need to be replaced because only replacing 1 would “make the car wonky”. When we asked if he could just plug the tire he said for “legal purposes” they couldn’t plug the tire. Nowhere else refuses to plug a tire. Both of these answers are not only wrong but are predatory on young women who they think they can scam when they come in alone. Women- do not let yourselves be scammed by these male mechanics. Do your research and take your car to another place!
