The only reason I am giving them a "1"is that's the lowest I can go. Over charged and brakes are worst than before they replaced them. Told me the bill was $781.40, but run my card for $812.57.

A bunch of idiots working over there. Not professionals at all. Only thing they are interested is how to make MONEY. They did a wrong diagnostics on my VW and replaced the part that was already replaced brand new. I drove from Troy in the morning and was at the place at 7:30, from then till 5PM they wasted all my time. At the end of the day I left the place with a $250 bill for their fault. Jonney broke the ignition coil plug and I have to pay for the repair. David is a big time idiot with no sense of what the is doing! So guys don't go to this place all what they do is HIT AND TRY. Go to some other place where true professionals work. They act as good people but they are not. Jesus will punish them for what they did to me.

Powell's Automotive was recommended to me by a friend. I thought I needed major work but David the owner and his son found something else wrong with my engine and fixed that and it seems to have fixed the pro. No question this is an honest mechanic.

Mr. David Powell could not have been nicer or more helpful / accommodating when I just dropped by and asked if they could fix my VW Toureg tail light replaced. Got right on it immediately & had me out of there ASAP even though he had to go to the trouble of walking down to the parts store in the Major Heat to get the right bulb for my SUV. Then checked ALL of my lights before I left. He only charged me less than $10! Unbelievable that there are still folks in the auto repair business like this!! That was just my last experience. They have also done some much more extensive work on both my Jetta and Toureag ~ extremely competently and not over priced on it either!! Would Highly recommend to anyone in need of their services!!! Of course the place is dirty, after all it's a Working Garage!!! Went by and dropped off the Jetta due to headlights not working & he had it fixed within an hour!!

Took my car in for an oil leak got a call from David Powell saying that my water pump was also leaking . Agreed to have it replaced also total came to $1400 . Less than a week later car was leaking oil from that exact same place that was supposed to be fixed the first time. Took it back after they fixed they charged me $409 . David said that had 2 oil leaks this time one of which was a oil pressure switch and that’s why the $409 charge + $16 because I had to use card to pay . There was no mention of this second leak Nor did I get a call about it before the claimed they fixed it . Definitely not the way to conduct business, truly believe the second leak was made up to cover there mistake the first time . Will not be doing business here again.

I have never had a bad experience with Powell Automotive until Wednesday. My car had been at the shop for almost a month and the only information given to me the first week was that it could be my motor. Each week I called to get an update and I was given a day that he would look at it. Well of course that never happened. On Wednesday I went by the shop since I was in the area to get an update. David's wife went and spoke with David only to tell me it could be my motor and he has not had a chance to look back at it. My next question to her was when will he get a chance to look at it. And with an attitude she told me she didn't know and for me to speak with David. I went over to David and introduced myself and he explained the same thing that he told me over three weeks ago. I explained to him that I'm in someone else's car and I need an update. He then begins to explain that other cars were ahead of me. And like I told David my car has been at this shop for almost a month and I've called weekly for updates and that is something you could have explained to me while we were on the phone. He also told me he would look into the recalls for my car and that never happened. I researched that information and presented to him on Wednesday. Then he says I'll look at it by the end of the week. I had just called him Friday morning and he told me that he would look at it that afternoon and give me a call but here we are in another week and I'm supposed to believe that he was going to look at it by the end of week. This was the worse experience ever dealing with David. His mother rest her soul ran an awesome business!! Her presence is definitely missed. I will not conduct any business with them ever again.

They replaced the starter in my SUV. They got to me fast this morning, had my car finished after lunch at an affordable price. I would recommend this mechanic to others. Edit: They just replaced my alternator too. Best price in town and they did it in less than 4 hours. Incredible service.

I can’t say enough good things about this place! We were on our way back from vacation in FL to TN and our brake lines were leaking. We were about 10 min away from this place. It was Friday a little after 4, they closed at 5 but the woman still said to bring it on by so they can look at it. Everyone else had turned us away. But they took us right in, when we got there our lines had busted. They worked on the truck and even stayed an hour passed closing to get it fixed, it was hot (90’s) and I know they were exhausted and had us back on the road. Thank you David Powell and crew! We are so grateful for your graciousness and consideration!

Do not take your vehicle to Powell Automotive. I took my 2006 VW beetle to Powell for repair. David called me to tell me what he found wrong with the vehicle, A piece broke off of the oil housing, Vacuum hose. when I took my vehicle in the yellow fluid warning light was on. He told me it would cost $1500.00 I agreed for them to fix the problem, one day later the same light was back on. They did not fix the problem. WARNING DO NOT TAKE YOUR VEHICLE TO POWELL AUTOMOTIVE.
