My car recently had broken down in Hampton VA. I had my car looked at by AAA car care center in Hampton. They quoted me near 2,000$ stating I needed a new radiator and water pump. In disbelief my mom suggested taking the car to Pure Auto as they are who fix her car. Well I’m sure glad I did, James was prompt and professional with getting my car in the shop as quickly as he could getting a good look at it stating I had ZERO coolant leaks, also stating that my battery was dead and I needed a new one, so I had him replace my battery. He discovered my alternator to be faulty and no longer working. The more then fair pricing, friendliness and understanding of my financial status was beyond impressive. While I did not have them do the alternator work I HIGHLY recommend James and Pure Automotive to everyone. The best experience I’ve ever had with a mechanic and I’m more then grateful, and proud to say I look forward to doing more business when my car is in need.

Jim and his team went above and beyond to schedule our appointment, promptly diagnose and repair my mother's Sonata. Jim identified several key issues that were not known and quickly shared detailed photos to explain. We came for a valve cover gasket and had another critical braking issue repaired as well. Folks, you are not going to find a family auto repair business more trustworthy and honest than Pure Automotive. I was triggered to post a review in response to the one disingenuous and quite frankly BS review unwarranted for a hardworking small business family. I've been doing business with them for well over a decade and not only are they exceptionally competent in what they do, but they are family friendly as well. They have always been honest with me about their pricing and whether or not they could do the job upfront. Don't go here looking for a bargain. Their pricing is fair and for the quality experience it is worth it; I would go nowhere else even if it were at a cheaper rate. The overwhelming majority of these reviews are spot on and not this many people can't be wrong about the outstanding personal service Pure Automotive provides to it's customers.

So, my husband and I wanted to let everyone in Virginia Beach know how wonderful this shop is, but I kinda hesitated, because I wanted to keep them to myself! Anyway, it was happenstance that we were put in touch with Jim, the owner, and what a blessing it was! My husband and I are not “car” people, and needed a mechanic for several different issues with my vehicle a 2011 Nissan Rogue that I inherited after my best friend passed. Needless to say Jim and his wife at Pure took the time to explain all of the issues with the vehicle, gave us a absolutely reasonable estimate, completing the work on time and with care! OUTSTANDING!!!!!! I’m extremely picky and got into working on my own cars 20 years ago bc of horrible service from dealers and independents. I got a 2007 Acura TSX in 2018 and have done all the work myself since then. I recently noticed an oil leak and couldn’t find the source. First thing that morning Jim drew diagrams explaining usual causing. When I said not there he walked out with me to look and talk over the leak. That day he sent many pictures and called to talk to me on a plan to fix it. He was extremely thorough and I could tell he enjoyed the process of fixing the problem. He was also very fair in the rates he charged. Thank you for being an excellent independent auto repair shop. Highly recommended!!!!

Im fairly knowledgeable about cars but I still appreciate and respect his know how and the time he takes to explain the issue. If you have an import they work on I highly recommend them.

I don't even know where to start. Jim, like all the reviews say goes above and beyond with customer service. I have a 2014 genesis coupe that i just knew had problems. Took it to two different places, one lied and told me it was the radiator fan, the other place told me twice there's nothing wrong. Trust me, i know my car! Its my baby and ive always taken care of it. Jim was the last stop and with a 10 minute phone call with him my suspicions were confirmed, blown head gasket. I gave him the go ahead with the fix after he gave the quote and sent me pictures of all the parts he was putting into it, and all the things he was seeing wrong with the car. He must've had that engine picked apart in 2 hours, it was quick. Sent it to the machine shop, and 3 days later it was ready for pickup. Wow! It's because of this place, i get to continue driving my beloved genesis, as these cars are slowly dying off and becoming museum pieces. But not mine. Mine lives on!
