Just toured this shop today and met Charlie Ray the owner .... all I can say is wow this machine shop is the most organized place I've seen in many many years. I reviewed some of the finished work and believe me I'll be doing some business here the quality is over the top.

Charlie Ray did me a solid. I took him a built 5.9 Dakota with broken valve springs and zero information on the cam, heads, springs, etc. He got me fixed up and out the door in a day, and I've put 30k miles on the truck since then with no issues at all. Ray Engine is the only shop that will touch this engine now.

I met with Mr. Ray today to discuss checking bores, crank, head, and pistons / connecting rods on my '01 VW ALH. He definitely knows his business. A note to folks: make sure you bring only the bare engine parts. A guy brought in a hemi with everything on it. Mr. Ray turned him away and told him to bring just the block, pistons, etc.

Dropped a honda h22a engine off to have short block reassembled and rebuilt. I was quoted a two week wait period ,didnt recieve the engine for 2 months and 2 weeks. Take it home to reassemble topend and the pistons where installed backwards so he did fix that and bragged that he didnt charge me extra to fix their mistake . His response was I cant make sure every motor is right but I've been in this business for 40yrs. Beware of this shop they warranty nothing and if I had not noticed the pistons were installed wrong it would have been catastrophic failure and no warranty on his work. No quality control to guarantee customer satisfaction.

I've known Charlie Ray and Ray Engine for almost 20 years. They do excellent work and stand behind their work. I don't think I have ever met anyone who is more knowledgeable about engines than Charlie Ray. He is an old school "my word is my bond" type of guy and is refreshing to deal with. If you need engine work done and done right you need to go see Ray Engine.

Second set of LS heads I've brought to Charlie. First set was in December 2015 for Installation of some beehive springs for a comp cam 558/563 lift in a 4.8. Got them back the next day. The second set was last week. A set of 243's port matched going on a 6.0 bored .030 over that I really needed the same day. I dropped them off at around 8:30 and picked them up the same day around 4:15. Jason put new beehive springs and new seals, on top of washing them. Looked brand new, and basically were. Couldn't have been more pleased and would highly recommend.

Had an engine rebuilt with aftermarket parts shipped straight to Ray Engine from summit racing. 6000 miles later the rings on cylinder 7 fails that they installed. Ray Engine refused to honor the warranty even on just labor because I didn't buy the parts through them which cost hundreds more and were the exact same aftermarket parts. I'm out almost $2000.

Charlie has done many many jobs for me and always have helped figure out what was wrong and how I may be able to fix the problem. They have worked heads for me that kept blowing head gaskets at factory torque. So I asked him if I put Indian head gasket on it and retorqued it to a higher torque would it help. He said it might so I did and I went to 110 ft pounds of torque and never have blown a gasket sence. Fixing to take 2 4.6 l heads to him and have them checked. I know he will do me right every time

Hard to find shops like this. Had a really bad affair with another shop ruining a short block chevy and refusing to fess up to it. Anyways, Ray's was a gift to find. Since then, I've had three flywheels balanced and turned, a crankshaft turned and chamfered, and a bare block decked and honed. I've been nothing but impressed by their work. You guys' rock.

Took the head for my wife’s 2013 journey here back in February. Was finally able to get it back into my wife’s car and found out that not only is a bolt for one of the valve clamps missing, but the hole is also stripped. I know it was one of their people because when it was taken off, the bolt came off just fine. Will not be doing business with them again.

Was quoted 175 for milling, cleaning, and assembly on one of the two heads I dropped off. Was later called saying they had to do a valve job which they did not ask me about or tell me a price. When going to pickup they said I owe 330 for the valve job they had to do. When I asked why I was never told about the price or asked before hand the owner said it’s the customers fault for not asking about price on something they did without asking me

Had my 3.0L V6 heads re done here through Hank’s. They have now dropped 2 valve guides. First in cylinder 1 second on cylinder 5. Luckily Hank’s held to their word on warranty and the first head got fixed. Going to have to fix other head myself.

Ray's Engine rebuilt for me a 351 Cleveland short block. They built the block just as I requested and helped me to get the parts needed. They completed the build in a timely manner and was very professional. After I completed the assembly of the engine and installed it in my 78 F150, couldn't be more happy. Would do business with again.

An absolute hidden gem of the automotive world. You walk in and ray or charles know what youre talking about. There is no is it 2wd or 4wd, or its in a warehouse in Houston... They know what plasti-gauge is for. There's engine parts on the shelves. Just went in to get the wrist pins pressed on the rods, found that a couple rods were "bent" . They had another full good set ready and pressed on in an hour. Gave some engine building tips too.
