Seems like a genuine guy, upfront and honest. But he was unwilling to do business based on the work needed to be done for my vehicle. I can’t really say how good or bad his work is but if your problem isn’t simple and quick this place will likely not work on it.

Best place in town, great mechanics and honest. Highly recommend. We have used them for forty years and stayed with the 2nd owner of the business, who has owned it for over 20 years.

I couldn’t be happier with the service I’ve gotten at Ryders! If you want your vehicle diagnosed and fixed professionally, then this is the place to go. Nice guy too!

Let me start off by saying my friend is not the from the area and was referred by a coworker of the work this shop does. I brought her 2004 Jeep Liberty to auto zone to run an engine scan and it came back as an O2 sensor issue. She brings her jeep liberty to Ryder's and they didn't even ask permission to perform maintenance on the car, they simply called her and said they "fixed it". After reviewing the bill, it totaled $260.00 to change out the SPARK PLUGS. The charge for the labor was through the roof, however, her being a girl was probably unsure of the issues and just wanted to pay to "fix" her car. Needless to say, she drives it off the lot and 4-5 miles down the road the check engine soon light came back on. These guys are inexperienced and unprofessional. I would suggest AVOIDING this auto center at all costs, to save you money and time. Particularly, if you are a woman, I would avoid this place as it seems they have the traditional mechanic "screw you over" mentality when the customer doesn't know how much parts and service should cost.

Had a 20 year old Bronco that I pretty much drove into the ground but these guys managed to help me keep it on the road a few more years before it finally gave up the ghost. Never had a problem with anything they worked on. They even managed to figure out some issues a buddy had with his Frankentruck. Great shop.

As a military veteran who has lived in many states, I have always tried to establish a relationship with a mechanic who obviously is skilled but also practical in regards to repairs as well as advice. Ryder's is that kind of place, technically and professionally competent with practical advice as long as you listen. I also highly value their ability to connect with females (my wife and daughter) to provide the same respectful service and as well as discussion of repairs and their cars. Whether you are a man or a woman their demeanor is the same, professional. Kudos. This is our "go to" place.

Ryders has always been fair and honest, taking an active role in giving us options on repairs along with the pros and cons of the decision. There has never been an issue with workmanship and they are always up front with the work prior to performing it. Very happy to have found them, they are our first call when we need a repair or advice.

I received awesome service from Ryders Auto Service! They not only had excellent costumer service, they also were kind enough to show me how to check my oil in the future. Would definitely recommend!

I will always use Ryder's for my car maintenance needs. They are upfront, honest and fast. I have never had to return my vehicle to them for the same service twice because they do top notch work.

Very honest vehicle repair facility. Dropped my truck off for an estimate/repair that a DEALERSHIP in town suggested I get done! Not only did I not need the repair, but told me I probably didn't need the repair for at least a year. I guess they would like to be known for being honest than take your money for an unnecessary repair. Keep up the good work! My go to repair shop!👍

I recently had a brake job done on my truck by a Ford dealership (terrible experience) and they let me know my ball joints also needed replacement. I'm a retired Navy Chief who just moved back to Michigan and, when I left 40 years ago, Bob Ryder had been voted best mechanic in the city (several times). In moving back to the mitten we moved to Allegan, but I drove 40 miles to take my truck to Ryder. I learned Bob passed away several years ago but in talking to the "new" owner, a gentleman named Tim, I had a very good feeling about his technical knowledge, honesty, and ethics. The Ford dealership had told me the ball joint job would be around $800-$1000. Tim wouldn't give me a quote until he looked at the truck. 4 hours after I dropped the vehicle off at Ryder's, I got a call from Tim with a price quote. He said, "Zero dollars to fix your ball joints". What? At first I didn't understand. Tim explained to me that the ball joints were fine and didn't need replacement. The truck just needed new tires because the current tires were cupping and causing the vibration I had been experiencing. Tim didn't try to sell me tires and make money off me because they don't sell tires. The fee for the assessment of my vehicle was zero. Even though he (they) spent a good amount of time evaluating and trouble shooting the fee was zero. Tim wouldn't even accept a tip. So this is my tip: If you ever need automotive service, your would be hard-pressed to find a better place to go than Ryder's. Honest, ethical, and reputable auto mechanic's are hard to find. I've found mine and you couldn't pay me to take my vehicle anywhere else.

soooo helpful!!! i visited ryder's auto service for repair to the exhaust system on my 13yo subaru. tim showed me where the problems were and told me they could replace the entire system, but that it was absolutely unnecessary to do so. he referred me to another local shop (G & A Auto) that was able to complete the custom repairs with a positive and very affordable outcome. thanks, tim!! i will definitely visit ryder's again when next auto service or repair is needed.

I cannot recommend Ryder auto service center highly enough. Tim was extremely organized, knowledgeable and upfront. His shop is almost perfectly immaculate. He went beyond my expectations from having a towing agent basically on call, to quoting the work numerous times and thankfully coming in well under the worst case quote. Vehicle is humming now and Tim has a customer for life.

Tim and Troy just keep exceeding my expectations. This week they directed me on-line to a salvage yard in Detroit where I found a body shop part (truck tailgate) that was exactly exactly what I needed. Compared to local body shop estimates I saved at least $1,000 and 8 weeks because they generously spent 5-10 minutes giving me wise counsel. I'm very grateful for how they take such good care of my vehicles. Over a period of several years and with multiple vehicles Tim and Troy have consistently been very flexible, friendly, and fair with me. I'm pleased to have them in the neighborhood.

I've been bringing my vehicles to Ryder's for almost three years - everything from simple oil changes to timing belts and major suspension work. All the while, Tim and his crew have been nothing short of fantastic. They take time and care in diagnosing your vehicle's issues, communicating clearly what is (or isn't!) needed. They are totally straight shooters, and their prices are very competitive. A+ mechanics!

I have had repairs and maintenance of my Ford Escape at Ryders for several years. I find them extremely competent and professional, performing excellent repair work at a fair price. They are easy to work with and I would highly recommend their repair shop. Give them a try and you will be glad you did.

My car was experiencing engine problems and my dealership was booked out for over a month so I called Ryder and talked to Tim. He said he was booked out for about 3 weeks, however, he said I could drop off my car and he’d try to fit me in if he had time between clients. Lo and behold he was able to get to (and fix) my car the VERY NEXT DAY! He was also able to explain everything to me in an easy to understand manner. I cannot recommend Ryder’s enough!

My first experience with Ryder’s came after a frustrating encounter with my dealership. I asked around for a second opinion and kept hearing the same thing—Ryder’s is trustworthy. Tim took the time to listen to the dealership’s diagnosis, looked over my car, and gave me his honest findings. That was exactly what I needed to push back against the dealership’s costly mistake. Since then, we’ve trusted Ryder’s for oil changes and diagnostics on the Hyundai and Subaru, and they’ve always been straightforward and reliable. While Tim doesn’t dig into Subaru-specific work, he recommended another shop that turned out to be just as great for the more in-depth repairs we needed.
