If I could give this place 0 Stars I would. I am so incredibly disappointed. I used them to install some TVs I bought online and they installed two TVs in backrests for $100 so I wanted to give them more business. I purchased a stereo for my 16 year old son for Christmas on Amazon. He just recently purchased his car and wanted a stereo with Bluetooth compatibility so that he could stream music. I called this place when I found a stereo on Amazon and asked if they had anything comparable in price and they said they did not. They proceeded to tell me that they would be able to install it for $60 if I purchased it. The day after Christmas I called and they stated it would be $60 plus parts and he could bring it in. The parts online that are needed add up to $20 so I figured worse case scenario it would be $100. Four hours later they called my son to tell him his car was ready. When he got there to pick it up they charged him $177. They never bothered to call to tell us part cost they just did the work. They totally took advantage of my 16 year old. What would have happened if he did not have $177 in his account to pay for it? Where do you ever take a car and not have them give you prices on parts before they do work? I called them back and expressed my disappointment and they guy who was apparently the manager said I don't know what to tell you. I asked him to have the owner call me so I could discuss and he took my number. It has now been 5 days and I never heard a word back. Do not do business with this place.

HORRIBLE!!!! was told (by the owner) it'd be $65 to rewire my car stereo, when he sent his "tech" to have a look, they informed me my speakers were bad and wanted to charge me $250 to install them. I respectively declined and said I could get them cheaper and do the labor myself. Well he then said, he'd have to charge me a $50 "diagnostic" fee, which he never told me about. He held my car hostage and once I informed him I called the police he began writing charges on the slip I signed, which was previously blank. Lucky Simi Valley Police are awesome. Because I got my car back.. That man is a Crook, rude, and is being reported to the BBB.

I regret not having read the reviews. Don is a dishonest businessman. He charged me $100 for installing a stereo that was previously wired and just needed to be reinstalled. The microphone cable was cut and he didn’t tell me about it. He said he will connect it at no charge. When I bring the microphone 2 days later he says he changed his mind and he’s charging me $50. Go elsewhere, the place is a scam!

Stay away from this place unless you like having people quote you prices off the top of your head to see if you will pay the price. I have been here twice over the last 5 years. One time I did business with them and this last time I walked out. The first time around I remember thinking the price was a little high and there was no written estimate until after the install. I wanted the stereo installed so I had it done but I remember walking away feeling like I paid too much. This last time, I purchased a stereo through Best Buy for my mother-in-law and would usually have Best Buy install it but they were not available. So I called this guy on a whim thinking maybe he had cleaned up his act. I read a few other reviews and some were neutral and some were awful but I figured I would give it a shot. And true to form...they were still the same place as last time. When you first walk in, the start a receipt but they don't list anything down for what they will do. They say that they have to look at it first to see what is there. Then they want you to sign this blank receipt. Then they take your stereo out and then they come back with a price. They say they have to look and see what is there first. And then...this is the best part...they come back with a price. So he says to me, "$200.00". And I said to him that it was way to high because I know the installation at Best Buy is only something like $125.00. So I said to him why it was so much and he said, "Well you have to get the harnessing kit and the wiring kit." Well I can tell you that the harnessing kit and the wiring kit should only be about $30.00 so I asked him how much it was and he tried to tell me it's pretty pricey. So I told him no thanks and then he says, "Well you have an amplifier too." Which I replied, "OK...and how does it make the installation another $170?" So I told him to button it up and that I didn't want to do it and he then said, "I will do it for $150.00." So now we are playing let's make a deal. I really don't want a car sales man selling me my stereo installation. So I told him no and told him Best Buy could do it for $125.00 and I would just wait. So then he offered to do it for $130.00 but by this point I had had it with him and no longer felt like I could trust them. So I walked away. Bottom line...I will never go back to this guy again. Be careful people and don't get scammed by this guy. Also read other reviews here. He likes to sneak in additional prices from what I am seeing. There are other reviews on Yelp that echo the same experience. Hope this helped and good luck!

You know it's bad when you walk in and he's(owner) arguing with another customer about scheduling. Walked in to ask for a price for a basic part, he wanted almost 3 times the amount of anyone else. Definitely not discount stereo. Lol. Crazy prices and not the best customer service.

I WISH I COULD RATE NEGATIVE STARZ!!! This guy charged $480 to change 4 speakers in my car with kenwood, and another $500 for an amp. When I got my car back, it wasn’t working right and making weird noises and I couldn’t control the volume and I couldn’t see out the back camera . I took it to Best Buy where I found out, he didn’t sell me kenwood speakers, it’s Chinese brand I’ve never heard of. And Best Buy was completely shocked at the work he did, so now I have to spend another $400 to fix this and do it the right way. Best Buy also said that the amp he gave me will blow out all my speakers and I shouldn’t play the music loud.

This business is absolutely horrible. Runs ads offering 20% discounts to seniors…. Only to get them to the business. My mom went there to get her radio fixed, the CD player was jammed. She was charged $150 to be told it wasn’t fixable. She paid $702 for a new radio, which was not what she wanted, and it was poorly installed. When she returned and requested it be taken out, she was told it was $100 an hour labor fee to remove, and that would take 3 hours, and there was a “$100 restocking fee.” When I arrived no one was working on her car, and the equipment had already been removed. I questioned the cost of the work only to be told he would not talk to me, only the customer. He also told me to leave the store. He said the work would take another 20 minutes. However, it was already done. So, she paid $950 for absolutely nothing. He did give her a $350 refund, telling her he wouldn’t charge her for the labor. (No 20% discount either). He fed her some line about having to pay his boss, getting her sympathy. This is a lesson learned, and I can’t do anything about it except to warn others. This business preys on our vulnerable population. PLEASE BEWARE. (Should have a zero star rating)

GREAT EXPERIENCE & GREAT PRICES! I was searching everywhere for a good alarm system to replace the factory alarm. After visiting best buy and two other stores I finally came across discount stereo, and I'm glad I did. I walked into the store and met Don (the owner), after speaking with him I knew this was the spot. He showed me my options to choose from and quoted me a price. A price much lower than the others, so I decided to have Don install the alarm and go home and wait. I knew the alarm would be tricky to do because the used Tahoe I had just purchased came with a bunch of after market stuff and the wires below the dash looked like a huge problem. Plus, the system was already not working properly. When I arrived to pick up the Tahoe, Don said he came across a few complications and had to use additional parts. At that moment I knew I was going to pay more than I was quoted, but to my surprise, Don charged me the amount he quoted and gave me a 5 year warranty instead of the one year he had originally said. So, not only was my experience far from those with the one star, it's hard to image the things mentioned in the one star reviews. Yelp is a great place to learn the integrity of businesses, but there should definitely be a service out there reviewing some reviewers. I will be back very soon to get my amps and subs installed. I will be recommending Don to my friends and family, THANKS AGAIN!!!

I should have read these reviews and avoided this place. I wanted to upgrade the entertainment system in my trailer and install an exterior camera so we could see who is knocking without opening the door. I told Don my needs and concerns, one of which is that I would not be able to determine if his work was successful until I did a shake out run and that might take a few months after installing due to the pandemic. "No problem mister Brian if you aren't happy or something doesn't work bring it back, we will fix." He said this to my wife separately as well. After the shake out, I needed them to move the amp from my cargo space and mount it to the wall in same space and then put the subwoofer from one side of the cargo space to the other. There was plenty of slack in the wiring to do this so the job literally took an hour at most. Then they needed to move the camera they installed in a position that was essentially useless for our clearly explained purposes. First, I called Don to tell him we needed him to move some things around. He instructed me to get the trailer to him right away so I did. I regret this decision. Once I unhooked in his parking lot, he launched into I needed to pay something for these requests. I took the position this was a guarantee he made to fix at no cost when he took my 3000 dollars for the install. I refused to sign his invoice and told him to make it better before we talked again. He wanted 300 dollars more when he called me that afternoon to come get my rig. He would've called the cops I think if I had left without paying him. I paid him, took my rig home and started discovering how bad they butchered the repair. The subwoofer was mounted next to my inverter exhaust. The amp is leaning against the wall with 2 screws partially installed. The molding they used to hide the old camera feed was not reinstalled with about 20 loose screws and most of the waterproofing gone. The new camera feed wasn't hidden, is an eyesore and will need to be repaired again. I had to repair the padding they removed to install the camera. It was just hanging there. So I'm out 3300 with more repairs needed.

DO NOT do business with these ppl. Ordered speakers 4 months ago I paid in full. Speakers were never ordered ask for a refund was refused and told they would reorder them. Guy was very rude and started blaming me for the speakers not getting ordered. Lack of accountability and worst customer service. I’m surprised they are still in business. I should of read reviews before shopping there. Do yourself a favor and stay clear of this place. Guy was mad that I still had the receipt that I made him sign as proof.

We drive a 2011 Chevrolet HHR and our auto radio started to lose signal in mid April. I took the car to Simi Valley Car Stereo who diagnosed the problem as a bad antenna and I agreed to replace it with a new antenna that they recommend for $297.87. When the installation was complete they told me the two left speakers were bad and they needed to be replaced. This was news to me as I thought they were fine when I drove in so I told the owner that I would think about it. He said he would give me a great deal. I returned two days later to see what the great discount would be and ask how two speakers can blow at the same time. He told me that when one goes it can take the other. He then offered me two new speakers for $189.90. and I accepted. With a new antenna and two new speakers, I was surprised at the amount of static especially on the AM band. I also heard a swishing sound every time I turned the wheel. I returned to the shop and and they worked for half a day to find the problem before giving up and telling me it is a problem with the car itself and I should take it to a dealer. They charged me $200.00 for the labor and the diagnosis. I took the car to a Chevrolet dealer and they told me the car shouldn't have the amplified antenna as it picks up auto electronic noises. That cost $185.00. So I returned to the Stereo Shop and explained the situation of the wrong antenna being installed and he told me that I signed a receipt that says "All sales final - no refunds". We are left with a noisy radio and an empty wallet with no recourse.

Two years ago I had to replace my stereo system. I told Dun the specs I was looking for. He told me it would be $500.00. When I left my RV for him to work on, he said that the specs are not available on the system he chose for me but a $750.00 will. I was pushed for time, so I agreed for the "up grade". Moving to this week, my back up camera seemed to have gone bad. He said it would cost $350.00 to replace. He kept the RV for two days just to tell me that he cannot do the job. With that he still charged me $75.00. I will NEVER go there again!

Don’t go here! He tried to scam me, I had to call the police and now filing law suit. Let me explain. I went in for a new stereo and installation. I bought all the parts and hardware from them that he said was needed to install the new stereo, so everything was paid for in advance. After they finished their work, he called me over and said my speakers don’t work and that I have to replace them. That wasn’t true because on the way to the shop I was listening to music, I explained to him that the speakers were working before they changed the stereo and the guy argued with me for a while. Finally we agreed to connect the old stereo back so he can show me that there’s no sound coming from the speakers, and he was right. But what he wasn’t expecting was for me to get in my vehicle and look at the connections and upon inspecting I found they didn’t plug in a connector. I plugged it in and sound came out the speakers. I inspected the new stereo and it has no where to plug in that connector so then they told me I needed a new amplifier and new wiring. I told him he was trying to scam me and I asked for a refund and just leave it the way it was before. Well he started yelling saying there’s nothing he can do about it other than for me to buy new speakers. Then he told me that if I wanted the work done with the new speakers that I had to give him the money up front before he started. I told him I need to make sure it works because if I pay him and it still didn’t work than I’d be out another $200. Such a scam and waste of time
