PHENOMENAL service. We can't thank Rick and Matt enough for going the extra mile for us and expediting a new transmission for our parents when their car broke down on vacation. They truly worked miracles getting it completed in just a few days before they flew home. If you get your car fixed anywhere, you must come here. All the employees are extremely friendly, communicative, and overall charge a fair price for their services. We also appreciated this was a family-owned business!

I wanted to let everyone know how great they are! I took my van here several years ago, when the transmission wasn't shifting correctly, they drove it and told me it was probably just a clogged fuel injector, gave me advice on what brand to buy and didn't charge me a thing, and that fixed the issue. Fast forward a couple years and I bought another vehicle, the transmission went out within two months. I had to have A&V transmission in KC replace it because that's the mechanic the dealership I bought it from used, (never go there!!!) It never drove right after that and the speedometer was ten miles off. After a year of fighting with them to fix it and them insisting nothing was wrong I took it to Smith Brothers. At first they figured the computer just needed to be reset, they did that and that didn't fix the issue but the computer was working properly. On closer inspection they found out the other mechanic put the wrong transmission in my vehicle! I'm having to force the other company to fix it, and if they don't I'll have them put in a new transmission. The price they quoted me for a new transmission was very reasonable compared to other places. They also spent a week and quite a few hours trying to find out the issue, but they still didn't charge me a thing for their time! They offer the kind of customer service you can't find anymore. They'll have all of my business from now on any time I have transmission issues.

Rather than sell me a service I didn't need they explained to me why my low lock transfer case might not be transferring and how to correct it. They took time to give me several tips on how to know when I was actually having problems. They answered all my questions in detail at no charge. Very helpful!!!

I would like to thank Smith brothers for getting my donut truck going the same day I took it into the shop I took it to another major transmission shop in Topeka and they wanted $3000 to fix it. Smith brothers did it for Small fraction of what the other shop wanted and did it very quickly that the shop said it was gonna take 10 days to fix.

These guys are excellent. I had them rebuild my 4l80e for a performance / towing application. It would've cost me $4800 for this transmission new, but I had them rebuild mine to handle 600 hp for a mere $1600. Even after I broke the transmission during installation, they took care of it for me for just the cost of parts. Great service, great communication, and they take care of their customers.

Couldn’t get my car to run told me it was my bunch of stuff that cost about 2800 dollars but wouldn’t warranty there work I was like okay to get my vehicle running again im down, about a week does by they said it’s electrical and says they can’t get it to run hahaha jokes wouldn’t recommend

Paid $ 2,700 to get a transmission rebuilt and then transmission broke less than 2,000 miles on it! They claim to give you 1 year warranty or 12,000 miles which is false advertisement because they did not want to warranty me at all ! I personally went into the shop the owner was not there the son pulled me aside and told me they would fix it but would not warranty me anymore after I left the shop later the owner calls me and tells me to pick up my truck and they wouldn’t fix it so when I picked up my truck they gave me my transmission back but completely disassembled and put into a box with all the loss gears and stuff with a bunch of bolts inside the box and the toque converter. ***I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS TRANSMISSION SHOP AT ALL !!!!!!

Smith Brothers Transmission rebuilt my 1953 Dodge M37 4 speed manual transmission. I couldn't be happier with results, it turned out beautifully with smooth shifting and quiet operation. Smith Brothers staff gave me good information about routines to keep this transmission in good shape for another 70 years. I was very happy with the frank assessments, operational advice, and their willingness to tackle an unusual project. Any transmission I need work on will be going to Smith Brothers Transmission.

When I called and talked to Mat, two big shops in Manhattan had already told me that my car needed a new transmission and quoted me $7,500 plus. I decided to get one more opinion and called Smith Brothers. Mat was incredibly knowledgeable and professional. He listened carefully over the phone and told me to bring it in the next morning. Mat and his team could have easily told me that my car needed a new transmission and I would have gone with that. But instead, his team took the time to look into the issue and decided to try a transmission flush first. They were very thorough and test drove the car twice before handing it back over to me. Taxes and everything included, I paid less than $400. After the service was complete, Mat took the time to educate me on the issue and advised me on when to get the fluid checked in the future so I wouldn’t continue having the issue. I will continue to make the hour drive from Manhattan to Topeka for this great shop. I can not recommend these guys enough!

I was in the process of learning to build my own th400 and went to smith brothers to get some clutches and steels for it. I talked to who I believe is one of the owners and he gave me a bunch of info and advice even tho he didn’t have to since I wasn’t paying them to build it. I wasn’t sure which clutch setup would fit better with my tolerances so he gave both to me to take home and check and didn’t charge me anything until I brought back the set that didn’t work. This shop does it like an old school shop where people come first and that’s very rare these days

Driving through from two states away, we lost our transmission. Rick diagnosed the issue on a holiday weekend and gave us a reasonable estimate for the repairs including letting me know what additional services may be required. I'd say they went above and beyond in their customer service. If I ever have to get another transmission repaired, I'd come here if i can.
