They never told me the diagnostic fee wouldn’t eat at the cost to fix my vehicle. When I confronted them about this, I was told shops are no longer doing this. News to me, and you! BEWARE, I just spent an additional $205 to diagnose. Go to 5 Star Auto instead! Legit guys over there, upfront about everything.

I went in the other day to get some work done on my car, didn’t realize how much work I actually needed to get done. However, these guys were friendly and super helpful during the whole process. They took only a day to fix my car and got it back to me the next day. Thank you again guys

Almost thought I found a good neighborhood spot to bring my cars but sadly, not the case. Left my car for a transmission checkup; they called next day recommending to replace two rear tires, specifically. I agreed to it since they were old, and added an alignment job. Totally fine. Upon pickup, they replaced all FOUR tires, and the guy proceeded to pull a classic gaslight saying he told me they’d be replacing all 4, which was the most disrespectful part. I know he never mentioned this on the phone; and the digital repair order proves me right as there was no mention of needing all 4 tires, only the rear. Even though I tried to give him an out by saying he never mentioned it, he insisted on it, even without any other proof besides showing me the old front tire. Now I have the 4 new tires which I even found listed cheaper on Amazon; a scratched and popped out bumper from when they parked my car’s lip too close over the slab for pickup, and now my check engine light is on for the first time in a decade. Best thing about this place is they didn’t try to scam-sell me a new transmission. Worst thing is everything else. Good luck if you’re up for the challenge of becoming a customer here.

They are very nice and do a great job. They are honest mechanics and always let me know what is needed. Thank you This was my past review… This morning I went to check my car because I was having a hard time for it to start.. now they looked at it and told me that it was the battery , then they said after the battery replaced they have to check the alternator, because it might be that to then they said I need to replace my water pump. Because it has a leak. Now they gave me a quote if 1500 dollars which is a lot for what it is and the person in the front kept want me to finance. So I opt out and asked if they can change the batter.. I WAS GOING BE CHARGED 450 DOLLARS! For a car battery a Toyata Corolla. And I was told it would be an hour because I need a special battery.. I declined and went to auto zone they had the battery for 200 dollars and changed it out for me in 15 min! SunAuto I’m very disappointed with you guys

Great experience all around! I have been using another big name mechanic for the last two years. Compared to the other company, Sun Auto was a breath of fresh air. The service, and they way you are treated is incredible, thank you JD for the absolutely exceptional service! Sun Valley also does a complete inspection and lets you know anything and everything that is wrong, then they take the time and go over the additional issues and how serious they are. No pressure, no up selling, just an honest place to service your vehicle.

They were communicative about work being done and inspection on the car.The oil change was done quickly. I felt like I was being pushed to service the vehicle for things that weren't needed and at a high rate. Also misleading information regarding the courtesy inspection. They wanted to charge $230 just to check what the engine light was. At the end of the day the light went off and it's been running fine.

I’m very disappointed with Sun Auto. I trusted them and they did me dirty. I took my car in on Saturday 8/23/2025 and picked up my car on Tuesday 8/26/2025. My car is continuously stalling and the check engine light is on. They told me, my car was not stalling on them but I needed my battery changed. I let them change my battery. When I picked up my car on today the inside smelled like the crack of somebody’s butt. They used up all my gas. And as I’m sitting here writing this review my car is sitting in a parking lot stalled with the check engine light on. I’m very disappointed in them and after coming to Sun Auto for 5 years, I will not be returning.

I am a first time customer...brought my Grand Marquis in for front struts and drive belt. Mr Rodriguez was very personable and friendly...he gave me a quote for the repair which I agreed to. The young man who did the work was kind enough to give me a ride home while I waited for my car. 5 hours later he called and said I was good to go. He returned to my home and gave me a ride back to the shop. The car rides great...I couldn't be happier. I highly recommended Sun auto...thanks again!

Amazing guys— I brought them a truck on a test drive to have it looked at before I bought it and they were very thorough and told me the things wrong for the truck and helped me determine if it was a good deal. Gabriel showed me everything under the truck and taught me a few things about it, all right before closing when it was freezing outside (I’m sorry).

Dishonest and pushy. I went to get my car and oil change, as always I ask “you guys top off the fluids right” they say yes all oil changes include fluids being topped off. I specifically ask if that includes windshield wiper fluid they said yes. I get my car & to no one’s surprise my windshield wiper fluid is empty. It makes me wonder if they even changed my oil? They did their “courtesy” inspection & give me a phone call. The man (Marty) on the phone was very disrespectful & unprofessional. He starts telling me what IMMEDIATELY need to be fixed. I said hold, talk to my husband. Since men at auto shops like praying on women. He starts telling my husband what needs immediate attention & my husband politely lets him know, yes I’m aware. We’re getting the parts to fix all of that today she just wanted to get an oil change. Marry begins saying “so you’re just going to risk it & do it yourself?” My husband lets him know, it’s not a risk since he’s a tech for a dealership. Marty responds with “a salesman at a dealership?” No a tech. Also known as a MECHANIC. When I come to pick up my car, Marty again says I need to get that stuff fixed immediately. I said yes I know we are getting the parts today, I was waiting to get my bonus from my work. He goes “it’s cheap it’s just a few hundred dollars” it was over $620 actually. I’m not sure how much Marty makes commission wise with being pushy & disrespectful to customers but something tells me $620+ on parts isn’t something he can afford on a regular Tuesday. When he said that I made a face & he reiterated it a second time then proceeded to say “and obviously your car is right over there” and gestures. Just overall very poor business practice & a lack of basic respect.

I am always skeptical about going to a mechanic because I feel like they always are there for the upsale. But the two gentlemen Chris and James were huge help with making me feel comfortable. It helped that I am familiar with automotive lingo so I already knew exactly what needed to be done I just don’t have the means at home to make the job easy. Nevertheless, they identified other issues I was having which I was also aware of and I felt in good hand letting them get all the work done. So with that in mind I highly recommend for and of your future service needs. 10/10 experience and satisficstion

No like really through the whole journey of taking in my car to their shop Washington Buffalo behind Trader Joe's they walk me through the whole process and show da love the whole way, Chris the main guy personally gave me a ride to Autozone to return unnecessary items and home but also call me an Uber no charge. They gave me many options for also da payment but I just paid straight up but my car I can tell a huge difference she actually runs smoother and I feel much safer knowing I don't have to worry about the engine falling out or my car not starting up because of no bad juju. If there was an option for less than 1 star I would have used it. First experience there, went in for an oil change and walked out with a $1500 bill. Ok, maybe my car needed work. I don’t know. Second experience, they had the car from 8:45am until 2:45pm to diagnose an emissions leak. Went to pick it up and oh, whoops, we never got around to it. Here’s your keys. Come back another day. Third experience, went back in for the emissions leak at 9am, heard nothing, so went back at 12:30pm and oh, whoops - we still haven’t looked at it. BUT, they did say my tire rim alignment was off and wanted to charge me for that, which isn’t what I brought the car in for. And oh by the way, my tires are just fine. Horrible service, horrible lazy people. Take your car to jiffy lube. This place wasted 2 days of my life and multiple uber rides just for a SMALL ENISSIONS LEAK. Absolute clowns. Save your money. If they ever actually do fix your problem they’ll find an additional problem that doesn’t exist to charge you for. TOTAL SCAM

I’m leaving a one-star review based on this specific visit, not because the staff was rude — everyone I interacted with was polite — but because the process and communication were extremely frustrating. I called this location ahead of time and was told to come in to order a new tire, and Edgar specifically made it sound like it would be a very quick ordeal. I arrived around 12:00 PM, completed the paperwork, and was told they would call me when the tire arrived and was ready to be changed. Because my tire was actively losing air and essentially flat, I did not feel comfortable driving anywhere else, so I waited in their parking lot with my car. I never received a call. After waiting for hours, I called at 4:00 PM to ask for an update and was told Edgar would call me back. I never received that call. I called again around 4:30 PM, at which point I was told to come inside. When I came in, Edgar was nowhere to be found, and I was asked the same questions as if I were ordering service for the first time. It was clear I had not been properly registered or tracked in their system, despite the fact that I had already purchased the tire and had the paperwork in hand. No one seemed aware that I had been waiting outside for over four hours. Once they realized I had essentially been missed entirely, they finally changed the tire and printed the correct paperwork. The tire itself was replaced properly, and again, the staff was polite — but waiting over four hours for a single tire replacement, while sitting in the parking lot and receiving no updates unless I called, was extremely frustrating. I do believe the people are nice and the service is likely good based on other reviews. However, my time was not respected during this visit, and I should not have had to chase updates for a tire I had already purchased.

When , in for an oil change , knowing I would need more. I wasn't wrong. But they were very nice and took the time to look up my car's vehicle maintenance/repair history to see what was done and when. One part was still under warranty. They were honest about what could wait. I always feel like I can trust them (not the case with some mechanics). They got my car done in a very timely manner. Yes, it was an expensive "oil change," but again, I knew there was more needed and I really feel like I saved money.

I brought my 2002 4Runner in for a check engine light. Turns out it was a bad gas cap. While my truck was there they recommended a coolant flush, and some new hoses/belts. $2000 later I picked up my truck and it leaked a puddle of coolant. I looked and found a massive crack in my radiator. When I brought my truck back, they quoted me another $2000 for a new radiator, water pump, and timing belt. I took my vehicle and will not be returning to Sun Auto again.

After a blowout resulting in driving on a donut, I called and was able to bring my car in the same day. Edgar answered all of my questions and didn’t push to sell me things I didn’t need. He helped find a great price on my new tires and helped me plan my “next steps” for budgeting some other repairs i need. I found a reasonably priced garage I can trust. I’m super grateful for that. Thank you!!

Review of Sun Auto Service – Washington Ave (Salesperson: E. Rodriguez) I visited Sun Auto Service on Washington Ave to have my vehicle checked after noticing a loud screeching noise coming from the front right wheel area following a curb impact. I explained that the noise started after the incident and that I wanted the technician to specifically check whether the dust shield might be rubbing the rotor, as well as provide information about possible brake wear. During the visit, the representative I spoke with, E. Rodriguez, focused primarily on recommending a full brake service that included brake pads and rotors. While I understand that brake wear can require a full replacement, my main concern at the time was identifying the cause of the screeching noise that began immediately after the curb impact. I asked whether the technician had checked the dust shield or any other components that might have been affected by the impact. I was told that the brakes were worn and that a full brake service was recommended, but I was not given confirmation that the dust shield had been inspected or adjusted. I also requested a quote for only the front brake components so I could understand the cost of addressing the most urgent issue first, but I was told that the full brake service was the recommended repair. In summary, the staff was professional and the shop was busy, but my specific concern about the noise potentially being caused by the curb impact was not clearly addressed during my visit. I left without a clear answer about whether the dust shield or another component was causing the sound, and without a quote for a more limited repair option. This review is intended to share my experience so other customers understand that if they have a specific mechanical concern, it may be helpful to confirm in advance whether the shop can inspect that exact issue before recommending a full service repair. Also I was told I would receive a phone call back and never got a call back.

I have been using these guys for a few years, and am always so impressed by their professionalism and tone in verbal communication, and even more impressed by their work. I brought in my 2002 Volvo S40 with 167,000 miles because I didn’t have an axle left 😂 They diagnosed in the first few hours, kept their word on the timeline for repair, hooked it up a little bit out of kindness, and, no surprise to me, the work was perfect. My car feels a thousand percent better and safer. It sounds weird, but I could “feel” that my car was so much better within 2 minutes. Thank you Sun Auto!

One of the best referrals I've ever received - working with Chris and Edgar was incredible. Although, I would have preferred to be anywhere else but their auto shop, the past two Mondays, they made sure all my needs were met. They were patient and explained everything I needed to know to ensure I was safely back on the road. There was a small issue after I left the first time, but when I called to explain what I was experiencing I was told to bring my vehicle back without hesitation. Once there the technician checked everything out Edgar explained an additional issue that was causing the problem. I decided to have everything fixed. After the technician took it for a test drive Edgar took the time to drive my vehicle before returning my keys to ensure the shaking I felt was no longer there. And, I must say once I got on the road my vehicle felt like a brand new car. When needed I will be back and I will refer friends and acquaintances to this auto shop, as well.
