Awesome mechanic and human being. I have two vehicles and Mike has been my mechanic since moving to North Carolina. I’ve always cringed dealing with mechanics because as a woman, it is common to be overcharged, but Mike is always honest and when you look at the bill, the labor charges are always super reasonable. Ruth is always pleasant to deal with, and if she says she is going to call you back, she does. If you’re relocating to Wilmington, I highly recommend choosing Vandelay.

I had to have my car towed yesterday because the ball joint on the front tire broke. We just moved to the area 3 months ago and I don't know any mechanics in the area yet. Someone gave me the name and number of Vandalay Motors and I'm so glad they did! They are sooo nice and professional! Mike took great care of my car Ruth explained everything that was going on and answered all of my questions. They got the work done in a timely manner and prices are very fair! Vandelay Motors recently performed routine engine service and repaired rodent damaged wiring. I trust Vandelay Motors to diagnose and correct mechanical problems. This confidence has been earned. Vandelay Motors is where I go for relief when my vehicle decides to behave really strange. They get things sorted fairly and keep me motoring along. Recently corrected several unrelated problems, one after another; + methodically diagnosed cause of engine bad behavior + successfully performed an automotive brain transplant + twice raised a sunken brake pedal All reasonably performed as promised. This outfit is a resource for maintaining a vehicle in road worthy condition. It is a wonderful thing to have confidence in your vehicle. On the road again thanks to Vandelay Motor's expertise.

I knew my car was going to be an expensive fix. Vandelay fixed it for a quarter of the price than I was quoted from a repair shop much closer to my house. My car has over 222,000 miles and now runs like new!! It is more than worth it for me to travel the twenty miles to Vandelay! I always know they are reputable and trustworthy!!!

I was told my 2015 Jeep Laredo had a possible transmission rear seal leak. I had no idea where to take it to get it repaired in time for my upcoming test and appointment at UNC Chapel Hill a couple of weeks away. I started looking online for Transmission repair and came across Vandalay’s reviews. They were all positive, so I called and went by and talked to them. A week or so later, I Took my car back for repair and within 2-3 hours later - they called and told me the problem was not the transmission but an oil housing adapter (now that’s service!) A day later my car was repaired and they saved me a lot of money. It drives like a dream. No more smoke or buying oil every time I buy gas. I HIGHLY recommend Vandelay’s food r your car repair. They are fair and they treat you right! 100%%

Called this establishment to help me out on a project I couldn’t complete. They came highly recommended from several people and I was apprehensive about contacting them because I thought my needs and budget might not align with the high caliber of work they are used to doing. Their service rep was not only patient and accommodating but equally understanding and delightful. They came and picked up my Frankenstein Jeep without hesitation or judgement as promised and did so even though I wasn’t home. Don’t know what will come of all this but right now I feel like I’m in very good hands and believe they will treat me fairly and honestly. Can’t wait to post another review when it’s all done! Thank you guys for coming through for me when several other shops wouldn’t even follow up with me!!

Took my vehicle in for an oil leak . Oil had been dripping on the alternator so the check engine light was on . They diagnosed it as valve cover gaskets . They did the work and cleaned everything off got the car back and oil was still leaking . Took it back and then had to replace the alternator . Needless to say the car is still leaking oil 1500.00 dollars later and no resolve from this shop . Be careful , if they have no clue what the problem is they will make something up and charge you BIG ! In response to your reply , you NEVER said anything like that . I even ask you before we did the repairs if you were sure that was it . You told me you were putting dye in there to see where the leak is because you didn’t know (which you did not do ) . Either way as I said before , you guessed at what was wrong and instead of trying to make it right being that it was so much money you shrugged your shoulders and ignored me !

Vandelay replaced the radiator in my 2001 Toyota 4-Runner. They did an excellent job at a price that was much lower than some of the shops with whom I checked before going to Vandelay. They were very friendly, anxious to get my business, and prompt. I will continue my relationship with them for all the repair work necessary on the Toyota. It is seldom I recommend auto repair shops, but this one stands out above all the others I have used in our town. Making the experience even more pleasant was Ruth at the front desk. She was very friendly and prompt with an estimate of the work required to keep my car on the road. Additionally, Vandelay is "dog friendly." To me, that says a lot about the type of people who own the business and who work there!
