I was extremely pleased with the service and quality repairs performed on my vehicle at 5th Gear two weeks ago. It was diagnosed properly and completed on time. They even gave me a discount from their special I was not even aware of. Thank You!

Took my Subaru Crosstrek in for some routine services and the team here was amazing! They explained everything in detail and why it was needed without making me feel dumb. Love the whole team (even the technicians in the back)!! Highly recommend them for any needed services for both your gas and diesel vehicles!

I took my 4Runner in for a routine oil change, but I walked away with so much more peace of mind. The team’s diligence and attention to detail are unmatched. They discovered several significant safety issues that, if left unaddressed, could have left me stranded or even caused a serious accident. As a visual person, I absolutely loved that they provided photos of the problems and upcoming maintenance needs. Seeing exactly what was going on made me feel confident in their recommendations. They truly go above and beyond with their customer service. If you want a shop that actually cares about your safety and treats your vehicle with respect, this is the place!

After a search of someone to repair and service our 2006 H—2 Hummer; we came across 5th Gear and never had any issues. We knew our budget and we are very satisfied with our newly acquired behemoth! We wished the could have placed on our grenade gear-shifter. However, possibly liability they didn’t want over their business. I would suggest you take your business here. Appreciate the services of Ian and the other mechanics. Just remember it’s only digital numbers and not a tangible asset! Once you acquire tangible assets using numbers. You’re in business! God Bless!

I had an oil change, and transmission service. The guys at the desk were nice, and I felt like they were honest. It was my first visit to 5th gear. If they are consistent, they will get 5 stars.🙂

I went back in October for some noises that were coming from my wheels. They are great! They found an issue in an hour that you took my previous mechanic 5 visits and they still didn't find it! Also the amount of information they give when you ask for a diagnostic is extremely helpful! I will definitely be coming back

5th Gear Automotive has changed ownership. It shows. The new Owner lives in Chicago, so you will have little recourse should you get scammed as I did. You would have to have the owner served in Chicago. This adds to the expense of small claims court and may not make it worth your while to file. As of now, the Supervisor has not reached out to me. I have tried twice to get him to call me back, and he won't. Probably because they know they screwed up so badly. They did not provide me a written estimate or a total and charged me $1555 more than Brakes Plus would have charged me for brakes and rotors. See the receipts below for more details. They billed me $3815.71 for front and rear brakes and rotors, an oil change, and a tire rotation. This was after knocking $200 off after I complained. They did not provide the following, and as a result, I was grossly overcharged, thinking that their rates were comparable to their competitors after shopping around. The mistakes: -A written estimate for the repair -A verbal total for the repair By providing either of these details, we could have avoided the whole mess. The following is a detailed explanation of their failure to be transparent. I scheduled an appointment to have my oil changed and tires rotated on my E350 box truck. I also knew I needed new brakes and asked for a bid for the brake work. I let them know I was shopping it around. He warned me that some Brake Shops use inferior parts. I told him I didn't need anything fancy. My truck only drives about $1k miles per year. He said he appreciated that information. They eventually got back to me with a verbal estimate of $1690. You can see from my notes that day that he was clear about needing both front and back rotors and brakes. I never heard him say "per Axel" as he later claimed, and that is reflected in the notes. He also never mentioned a total. Either one of those statements would have prompted me to make a note, and I repeated the information back to him a couple of times, as I write slowly, and he repeated it back to me a couple of times, so I could make sure I was giving the proper information to the other companies I was calling to get an apples-to-apples estimate. I called Firestone and Brakes Plus in Superior, and they gave me rough phone estimates of $1600 total. I support small businesses whenever I can, so I went ahead and authorized what I thought was a repair of $1690 for brakes and rotors. This still sounded like a lot to me, but it is a truck. The information checked out with their competitors. When I got the call to pick up my truck, the total was over $4,000. So, I went in, paid my bill, and told them that I was being ripped off and that everyone else I had talked to was saying the total should be closer to $1600. I told them that I was taking the receipt back to Brakes Plus to make sure I wasn't getting ripped off like I thought I was. They knocked $200 off when I complained. That was nothing compared to the disparity in price. I went to Brakes Plus the following morning, and they did their best to match the images of the final page of the receipts below. The mechanic offered me a hug afterwards, because he could not believe their audacity. His revised estimate based on their final receipt was a little under $2,000, meaning I left about $1600 on the table by using 5th Gear Automotive. There was an extreme lack of transparency from their failure to provide part numbers, a total for the verbal estimate of repairs, or a written estimate.

Brought my ‘96 4runner in. It’s really hard to find shops who will be transparent and honest about pricing, especially with an older car. Caleb S. at the front desk was very helpful, explaining the pricing breakdown and quotes. He also took a good amount of time to show me the problems on my car while they were working on it in the shop. Will definitely be back next time I need some work done.

There was a time when 5th Gear rose above the rest, holding that stellar reputation for many years. Under the new ownership, that honesty, transparency, and fair pricing is long gone! I was billed $1000.00 for a 2000 Chevrolet Starter-Motor replacement. That included a one week waiting period, due to backlogs. In fairness an OEM replacement part was used. However, had I not farmed the work out to 5th Gear I would have accomplished the job, myself for ,approximately, $150.00. Most importantly the access to the Starter-Motor was exceptionally convenient. Labor time one hour max, for a proficient ASE. The markup was positively tailored to line their pockets, to excess. With prudent research its easy to locate talented automotive technicians in this location! And that is exactly the solution. I maintain my vehicles when time permits, and farm it out when necessary. I feel compassionate for the off-guard, and elderly consumers that place their faith in this establishment.

After a rough experience with another shop, these guys have been my absolute go to for my diesel truck. They are thorough and very communicative. If you have any issues or just need routine maintenance with your diesel truck, I highly recommend letting 5th gear take care of you.

I took my car to 5th Gear Automotive recently to fix a window issue, and I am so glad I found this place. The staff made the entire process seamless and professional from start to finish. They are horough, and I am thankful. While they were addressing the window, they performed a full inspection and found a nail in my tire that I had no idea was there. They likely saved me from a flat tire or a dangerous situation on the road later this week. Their inspection is a game-changer. They provide a detailed report complete with pictures, so I could see exactly what they were talking about. I also really appreciated how they prioritized the repairs for me—Ben walked me through what was a safety priority and what could wait, which gave me a lot of confidence that they aren't just trying to upsell or swindle me. It’s hard to find a mechanic you can trust right off the bat, but 5th Gear earned my repeat business today. Thank you for the honest work and for looking out for my safety!

Caleb was very professional and thorough in explaining the service options recommended and wasn't pushy when I had to defer some for the next time. We have been bringing our cars the Fifth Gear for well over a decade and they continue to overperform.

I had a great experience with this dealership when I brought my Volvo in for service. Everything was handled in a timely manner, and they were kind enough to take a look at my check engine light without charging me. Caleb Sharp was especially communicative and helpful throughout the process, making everything easy and stress-free on my end. I highly recommend this dealership to anyone living in the area who needs their vehicle serviced.

I cannot say enough good things about the entire staff at 5th Gear Automotive. I recently brought our vehicles in, and the level of care and service they provided for both me and my daughter was exceptional. What stood out most was their efficiency—they got the job done incredibly quickly without sacrificing quality. It is rare to find a shop that respects your time as much as they do. Furthermore, their pricing is very fair and transparent. Honestly, given the level of security and peace of mind I feel knowing our cars were handled by such experts, I would happily pay more for their services. If you are looking for a team that is professional, fast, and genuinely cares about the safety of your family, this is the place to go. Thank you to everyone at 5th Gear for the great work!

I have been a customer for 13 years, which in itself says a lot. The last visit was just for new windshield wipers. I called them before bringing the car in to see if it was a good time to do the service. When I arrived they replaced the wipers immediately. No waiting. No hassle. What was notable is they did not charge me for installation. I only paid for the wipers. I appreciate the free service.

The 5th gear guys were awesome. I was able to get my car in on same day for what seemed like a battery issue. They detected that it was not charging properly and let me know the options. They got a new one ordered and it was delivered within a half hour as I waited in the clean customer area. Caleb (and Ben) were quite nice and kept me in the loop of what was going on. Caleb called the next day to make sure all was ok. I will definitely keep coming back. I have recommended so many friends to 5th Gear.

Lyle was able to fix my Subaru battery and change my oil very quickly. Didn't even need to leave the shop while he completed my service. Very nice, knowledgeable, and efficient young man. Also came out to talk to me about my car and additional tips he recommended doing to take care of my car, get the best out of my oil, etc. Really went the extra mile to ensure my vehicle had the best care.
