This is the worst experience I have ever had with a mechanic. I would have thought a mechanic would finish examining a car before repairing stuff. I had asked for a full evaluation of my car since it has not been in the shop for some time. Let's be honest, I couldn't afford to take it to a shop for a while. I brought it to Chaz to examine and determine what all needs to be worked on to get my car back in good standing. He did plug in the computer to find out what codes the car was throwing, but did not have a lift available to look at it and did not offer to drive it when I told him there was a rattling that got worse when I hit bumps. He asked if I had a ride home or not and if I could leave it there for a bit. I told him I did not mind waiting. After almost 2 hours of him boasting about how awesome of a mechanic he is and how much money he has gotten from working on an acquaintances car, we made the plan to bring it back the next week when he had time in his schedule do repairs. I figured at that point he would drive it and look at it before doing the repairs agreed upon in case there was anymore. Instead, he did over $1,500 worth of work and then told me I needed to do another $4,000 work of work and it was not safe to drive. Once asked why he wouldn't tell me about the other issues( all suspension related) when looking at the sway bar links, his response was this story about a Honda pilot he was working on that threw a code for pistons, but once he replaced those, more issues popped up at a later date, and the owner has spent $3800 chasing those problems. To me and to other local mechanics, if the sway bar links are bad, which is part of the suspension, and there is rattling when hitting a bump, the rest of the suspension should have been checked. I'm not sure why he thought it would be ok to not finish examining my car to give me all the knowledge I should have gotten before deciding to spend the money to fix versus looking at getting a new car. In an email, he told me it is my fault and I need to take responsibility for not taking care of my car. So if you would like an actual full diagnostic exam and good communication where you do not feel like you were taken advantage of, I would recommend not coming here.

He took his time to help me out and didnt over charge me or try to sell me other diagnostics or anything. I can’t thank Chaz from Black Ice Automotive enough. I bought a car from him that had some work done at his shop knowing that it was still in need of a few minor things . Gave me a great deal on the car and gave me a quote to take care of everything else. While he was servicing the vehicle he noticed some leaks and recommended we replace the intake. Decided to do just that, still, the car was suffering. Long story short, turns out the intake suffered damage from a failed replacement part from the repair prior to my purchase. If I were at any other shop, this bit of information may not have ever been disclosed to me and I would have been stuck with another large repair bill. Instead, Black Ice Automotive took ownership of the issue, got the faulty parts covered under warranty, and performed the replacement of the now new-new parts at no additional cost to me and the car runs great. That is honor and integrity, that in my experience, is hard to find these days. This gives me a great deal of confidence to return when I next need service, or another repair. I highly recommend that if you have an issue with your vehicle, especially a big one, to contact Black Ice Automotive, knowing that you can trust not only the quality of repairs- but that they stand by and guarantee their work. Praise God for giving Chaz the gift of repairing vehicles with honesty and knowledge. Our car broke down and My Husband called Black Ice Automotive and spoke with Chaz. My Husband explained the problem and our situation and Chaz was understanding and accommodated. Not knowing til I got here the humble beginnings of Black Ice Automives that made Chaz a successful one man independent shop. Chaz shop is one level, pull up to garage and walk in.
