Since parts for repairs are about the same cost everywhere, it is the knowledge about how to fix your car that sets shops apart. The dealer could not fix my car and neither could another shop. Andrew had the diagnosis fast, and the repair was completed on the same day that the needed parts arrived. This cannot be topped, and I will return if another repair is needed. Thanks Andrew!!

The people there were super nice and were surrounded by an absolute Herd of Land Rovers. When I asked about my Land Cruiser, they were very polite and very helpful. While the Stars and Stripes were nowhere to be seen, the Cross of St Andrew's was visible in several incarnations. Hail Britania .

I recently purchased a high milage 2011 RR. I went to british 4x4 for a post purchase inspection. Andrew informed me that there was a cooling system issue that needed attention sooner than later. Sure enough, after about a month it was leaking coolant a alarming pace. I scheduled an appointment and dropped off the keys via a mail drop. After about 8 hours of work, it was ready to be picked up. Great job and will definitely bring my car(s) there in the future.

Andrew and the staff provided great service and generated increased confidence with his functional description care concerns, as well as, urgent work on my vehicle. In fact, they demonstrated extreme customer service by assisting my wife (new Resident of Durham, NC) expedite her tow and car inspection. As a whole, the group at British 4x4 are professional, efficient, effective, detailed, and affordable. The entire shop has a genuine passion for Land Rovers! If your within 50 miles Durham, you need to consider Andrew & BRITISH for ALL your Rover needs! A short ride from downtown Durham.

I had work done a few years ago.. I kept my mouth shut. My reviews to myself. But I can’t anymore. I am so glad people have had good experiences as I wish I did. But I did not. Everything I am about to say. I have documentation and evidence noted from certified Land Rover mechanics on every single one of the issues I am having- with the correlation from my receipt and work order. Everyone is very nice. Unfortunately, that was the only positive aspect of my experience. I had over $4,000 in repairs, transfer case, transmission, A/C, alternator, coolant hoses, and more. The truck felt horrible when I picked it up after hours for my 7 hour commute home. I took video and called the owner, who expressed the new atrocious jolts, knocks, and lack of shifting was “normal for an old car”.. no. I have owned 5 rovers. EVERY aspect of the work done has failed within 5k miles. It has taken this long to put in 5k miles because I could not afford to RE-fix all that this shop has done at once. The next shop I went to commented on the poor qualify of the work done. Incorrect gaps in trans, untightened cables and nuts, bad alternator, this list goes on. They lost my alt fan cover which resulted in coolant hose being cut. They never sent me my parts or warranty information on alternator after saying they would. Transmission kickdown cable was not installed correctly, transfer case was not rebuilt correctly, and now.. what finally made me write the review. The most expensive aspect of the bill.. the transmission. failed. All within 5k miles of normal road operation. At first the shop recognized the issues and “where willing to make it right” I was hopeful, though, as the list went on and I sought 2nd and 3rd opinions and relayed those diagnosis’s contact with this shop stopped. After the first breakdown- I showed the shop my receipt- they took that and called me the next day and told me to sue this shop for the cost of the repairs because they were of such poor quality and neglect. (I did not do that) but this review. Though harsh. Is needed.

Just moved to the area and had a few problems with my 07 LR3. Found Larry and British 4x4 on the internet so took a chance. I can't tell you how good their service and prices are. Have had to have my vehicle in twice in the last several months, and they are excellent. Larry, the owner, is a computer science major who found his love in working on Land Rovers. If you have a problem with yours do not go anywhere else. So happy to find someone who is knowledgeable about my car!!

Quick, upfront, informative and competitively priced service. Had an alternator fail which uncovered a faulty water pump on a 2011 supercharged Range Rover. All done thousands less than the dealer charges. Quality work!

It is the only motor repair shop to fix all kind of Land Rover cars in durham NC. My husband has a old Land Rover and not other place would work in His car. Unfortunately they don’t count with all the pieces for your car and sometimes they are really busy, which make you wait at least 2-3 day to get your car back.

Larry, Andrew, Mark and team installed a 200TDI engine in my new Defender 90. They did a great job on the install and have stood behind their work 100%. I highly recommend them to anyone looking for an honest shop to have their Land Rover serviced or repaired.

Great service. They know their Land Rovers. I've had several minor problems with my '04 Discovery. Each instance has been resolved and at a reasonable price. Will always have my business.

Great shop! They always treat us well. They know Land Rovers. Land Rovers are expensive to repair, but this shop is definitely better than dealerships. B4x4 is clear and upfront about their estimates, and complete repairs as promised.

I had taken my Toyota Cruiser to get fixed at 4x4. They had it for more than 8 months, not only did they not fix anything, they charged me money upfront and messed up my car more than what it was before. They are con artists who take money from people and leave the car worse than how they took it in. They did a horrible job on my Toyota Land cruiser and I do not recommend this place to anyone! Please do not bring your car here!

I recently brought my car here for service and was very impressed. The team is highly professional and knowledgeable — they quickly identified the issue and fixed it with great skill. Not only is their technical expertise outstanding, but their customer service is also excellent. They explained everything clearly, kept me updated, and treated me with patience and respect. It’s rare to find a shop that combines both top-notch skills and such a friendly attitude. I’ll definitely be coming back and recommending this place to friends and family!

Great and knowledgeable independent Land Rover shop, they are the only ones that would take time to understand my needs in regards with modifications to my vehicle including a fully rebuilt engine stroked from 3.9 to 4.6 that has been trouble free for over 1 year including a crosscountry trip to Moab Utah. A fun bunch to go wheeling with. Highly recommend to anyone that needs regular maintenance or custom work on your vehicle (not just Rovers).

British 4x4 was incredible to work with! Brought my BMW in for a tire sensor issue. British 4x4 diagnosed and repaired my BMW in just one day, even managing to get the needed parts the very same afternoon. Their communication was excellent throughout the entire process, keeping me fully informed and confident in the work being done. On top of that, it was a great price for such fast, high-quality service. Truly outstanding shop—highly recommend!
