Really awful customer service. I bought a replacement FOB there 6 months ago because my original was in luggage that was stolen. Ever since then, the battery dies whenever it is exposed to prolonged cold. My original key and my finances key never had this issue so I went in and complained that it was something wrong with the key. I wanted my $$ back and he proceeded to argue with me the entire time, interrupt me and even walk right up to me trying to intimidate me. He refused to refund my $$ and went on to blame the car for having a third party remote system causing me to be stranded every time the battery dies in the FOB because putting the key in manually sets off the alarm. That is an issue but not related to fact the key doesn't work properly which was my argument! When a product doesn't work, I think it is completely reasonable for a customer to go in and ask for a refund and not be berated with pointless arguments and disrespect. Went here to try to save a few bucks vs the dealership key....not worth it. I even tried agreeing with his admittedly reasonable compromise of replacing the key with the stipulation that if it happens again, THEN he would refund my $$....Nope, still more arguing and refusing to refund. Save the headache and go somewhere else...

Excellent experience! I locked my keys inside my pop up camper. I called around to a couple different locksmiths, but I couldn't get any straight answers about price quotes or appointment times. When I called City Lock it was smooth, professional and easy. I was told to just bring my camper up to the shop anytime- and that it would save me money on a trip fee. Once I got there the camper was opened up in no time and I got my key from inside. City Lock also cut me a spare key and did the research to make sure everything was correct. One of the quotes I did get from another company was a range, FOUR to FIVE times more than what City Lock charged me to pick the lock. This is a great local Boulder Company. I highly recommend them.

Avoid this place. Really. Jeff (the owner?) is one of those nice guys until you have an issue, then you're going to deal with an angry, impatient, short-tempered man. After numerous phone calls asking him where the parts were for my lock, in which he was totally rude (said he doesn't have time to talk, will call back but does not, etc), he arrives one month after his first visit to do the repair. He replaces the parts. The lock barely works better than before. Loose, broken locking knob not fixed. The key sticks and is not easy for either he or I to turn. It's a joke. He wanted to charge almost $1,000 to replace the workings of the lock and give it back to me so dysfunctional, it requires him telling me how to lock the house. "The lock will not work like new!" he says. Ok, but can it work like a functional lock that a house guest can use without a tutorial? Come on. "I'll never make you happy" he yells. I told him to put the old parts back on and leave. I wasted $200 on his initial estimate, one more month waiting for parts, and a number of absurd, totally unprofessional phone calls. Go someplace else.

I went to City Lock with a key and ignition problem. My trusted mechanic recommended them. The owner was very helpful to me. He spent 20 minutes thoroughly researching the issue and found that it was not a key and ignition issue but something else, and gave me advice about what to do next. He did not charge me for his time. I felt that he was very helpful, thorough, and honest, and will go back to that shop for any of my key and lock needs from now on.

I couldn't have had a better experience! Jeff was so kind and worked on his day off to find the code for my key from GMC to make a new one. It was not an easy task and he was very patient. The cost was half of what i was quoted from others to come out and do it. He said i could just come down the road to the shop and it would be cheaper. This is a business that cares and really takes pride in their work. Thank you Jeff!

The key hole for the ignition in my Honda Pilot became too worn down to get the key in (a common problem apparently). At the dealership this replacement is close to $1000, Jeff quoted a significantly better price and completed the project quickly. He was very helpful and friendly throughout the whole experience. Ignition works like new now, and he gave me 2 new keys for my car as well.

Jeff at City Lock was incredibly kind, caring and generous to me yesterday. Over the telephone, which he actually answered, he patiently walked me through my problem troubleshooting my issues step by step. And guess what? In less than 10 minutes my door lock was locking and unlocking again! In other places, a guy would have come out, done what I did myself, and then charged me at least $200.00. I feel so lucky that I found Jeff at City Lock. You should call him too. By the time the other companies called me back my door was all fixed and I hadn't spent a dime!

I visited to have two keys cut and programmed to my vehicle. The owner is very knowledgeable, friendly, and professional. He really knows his craft. Cutting and programming two keys took about 20 minutes. I would take his advice on not buying your keys online. Mine did work but after talking to the owner I can see how many would not work. My only complaint is that the Google page shows Citylocks service hours. The retail location actually closes at 2:00 PM

My dealer sent me to this guy because they trusted he would do a good job and he didn't disappoint. I called and he was able to help me over the phone. Apparently, the dealership wanted to charge me $180/hr for something that he was able to give me instructions on and took me 5 minutes to complete. I am so glad I called here first. As women, we often get taken advantage of in the automotive industry. I feel so empowered today! I am so grateful to this guy.

I called this company first thing this morning to inquire about getting a replacement key fob made for my 2014 Nissan Sentra that was parked 4 minutes away from his business according to Google maps. The man tried to tell me it would be $700 to replace my key fob. And when I tried to explain to the man that I've had one made before and it was under $100, he got angry with me and started yelling at me until I just hung up on him. There is something crooked happening at City Lock here in Boulder and I feel it necessary to warn others thru this review platform.

Jeff is the best! We called a locksmith who tried to charge us an exorbitant amount of money to rekey our locks. Jeff came to the rescue. He undid their work, and even rekeyed locks that we were told were impossible to rekey without ordering a new cylinder. The doors were custom and the cylinders were hundreds of dollars each. He is such a kind person and is an expert at what he does. He was quick and efficient, and reasonably priced. Highly recommend!

There’s absolutely zero chance all these positive reviews are authentic. Their prices are different than any other locksmith in Boulder. I called yesterday to try and replace a key fob and was estimated around 3-400. Today I called and was told it’d be 750 for two keys…..when I asked if I can just get one their answer was simply “no.”

I would leave -5 if I could. I was promised that I would get a Key Fob COPIED and PROGRAMMED. However this did not happen and I was still CHARGED $150 even though not every part of the agreement was met. Besides being talked down to the whole transaction, and AFTER the whole programming process failed, I was then also told that if I returned in two weeks after returning the key fob I had originally brought in, and FOR AN EXTRA $100, I would receive a Key Fob that was guaranteed to work. This whole time and process was fruitless and the fact that I was charged anything at all to begin with is ridiculous. I would ABSOLUTELY AVOID this place!

Not a pleasant experience. We needed help fixing our car’s ignition, and while the locksmith did manage to get it working again, the method was questionable: he simply hammered into the ignition to force it open, which felt more like a temporary workaround than a proper repair. For that, he charged us $200. He seemed annoyed the entire time, barely said a word, and came across as quite rude and unbothered. At one point, he mentioned he was supposed to be done for the day—well, then don’t take the job if you’re annoyed and have somewhere to be. Some basic courtesy and professionalism would have made a huge difference. Would not recommend based on this interaction.

Phenomenal experience and incredible depth of knowledge. They programmed a new Toyota key fob for me and in the process fixed an issue with the door lock that had stumped automobile mechanics. I was a new customer, but during my visit spoke with several other patrons who were long time very happy customers

I went to City Lock to get two vehicle keys made and was scammed out of $250. City Lock made two keys that not only did not work properly but now my vehicle's windows roll down randomly, the hatch pops open, the alarm goes off and the sunroof opens without warning. The owner not only refused to give a refund even after admitting that they made a mistake and did not use the proper code when making the keys for my vehicle but they had also said they were guaranteed for one year but wanted to charge me more money to fix their mistake. A simple refund for a mistake made by City Lock could have remedied the situation easily. I would whole heartedly recommend to use any other company for your key or lock needs instead of using this fraudulent City Lock scamming company. Please also report any similar less reputable practices from City Lock to the Better Business Bureau to avoid anyone else being scammed out of their money.

After recently purchasing a 2001 Lexus, I found out that the only key I had was a valet key and that I did not have a master key for the vehicle. City Lock & Key was able to resolve my situation by being able to duplicate my valet key. Jeff was extremely knowledgeable and his pricing was very reasonable. I highly recommend City Lock and Key for any automotive lock needs. Thank you Jeff!!
