Inverter went out on my 2010 Toyota Highlander Hybrid. New part from Toyota runs about $6K. Car with no issues is worth $8K-$11K. Coastal shopped the part and found a used one with warranty. When the part arrived it was severely damaged and Coastal skillfully combined parts from that inadequate inverter with my failed one. This is a wonderful family business that goes the distance to provide impeccable customer service and value. Try them out you won’t be sorry!

Our first time taking our van here for 100,000 mile servicing. Honda quoted us approx. 3,000 for a complete servicing. Who has 3,000 dollars laying around to drop on a car servicing? Called Coastal Care Care and spoke to a lady who was extremely nice over the phone (forgot her name). I told her our situation, and she informed me that they only recommend repairs or replacing items on the van when the "indicator light" illuminates. I instantly began thinking I was going to save myself some money. We decided to drop off the van and they inspected it and had our oil changed during the inspection (why not, right?). That same day, the service technician called me and informed me that my van was going to cost upwards of 3,000 dollars to fix (same quote Honda gave us). We decided to go with Coastal Car Care based on their reviews and the reputation they uphold in our community. We got our van back 5 days later (this was unexpected), and they advised us that they're not equipped to upgrade the software in our van (which it needed). This was never mentioned before they began servicing our van and it now leaves us with an added expense on our shoulders. If we would've known this beforehand, we would've had decided to go with Honda to service our van (done is done). Our recommendation for Coastal Car Care: If your customers are going to "drop" some serious coin in fixing their car (1) be honest and upfront with them in what you can or cannot do at your service center. (2) Consider collaborating with other local shops or service centers to save your customers additional time and expenses.

I had my son take his 97 Wrangler TJ there for an exhaust repair. Shawn at the shop really went above and beyond to help him out. He fixed/welded the muffler for a very reasonable price. Shawn then gave it a quick once over and said the rear bumper was missing some bolts and loose and so he took care of it. My son said he was treated well and felt very confident about the shop and their service. Great job Shawn and Coastal Car Care. We appreciate your help.

I have a Nissan 1986.5 hard body 4x4 pickup. The guys at Coastal Car Care in San Marcos have been a godsend! They were able to get my truck smogged last year by working their magic. In the time since then they have kept me on the road and been very courteous and provided top notch service. It's hard to find a quality shop who will work on older vehicles. Costal Car Care is the only place I would send, in this case, my daughter to have her beautiful 2008 Toyota Yaris (with about a billion miles) maintained. Looking around at her options for repair in Long Beach was producing a range of estimates and guesses. Being a young woman she was getting the runaround. I asked her to drive south to North San Diego County (San Marcos) as I know we would get the straight poop on what was wrong. It ended up being new brakes and drums for the rears. The brakes were so bad they prepared us for a master cylinder replacement based on symptoms so we crossed our fingers and approved whatever needed to be done. Turns out just replacing the rear brakes was all it needed. In other words, they could have replaced the master cylinder and we would not have known the difference. That’s exactly why we brought our business to CCC. Not for good news but truth and honesty. They called later in the day and gave us the good news - only rear brakes were needed. In at 10 am, out at 3pm same day only added to our satisfaction. Nice to have a competent auto repair shop on your team and I recommend you move these guys to the top of your list! Btw, this was my second repair as I brought my 2018 Mini Cooper Countryman to CCC for brakes on all four wheels. Same great experience. Highly recommended!!!

Awesome experience. Great family-owned auto shop here in SM. I was referred here by AAA after a slight issue with my front right wheel. I spoke with Michele on the phone and she got me set up right away with an appointment to bring my Subaru in. She was very kind and answered any questions I had. After the car inspection, Cory, one of the mechanics, explained to me that the problem wasn't anything that required service. Being a layman when it comes to automobiles leaves you somewhat at the mercy of the mechanic. I appreciate his honesty. I had not had my car serviced in quite some time because I was avoiding that nightmare of dealing with the dealerships. Cory took the time to explain the things to me that he saw needed attention. The service to the vehicle itself was prompt, quick, and professional. I received my car back in far less time than initially quoted. It can be very difficult to find a good and honest local mechanic, especially if you don't know anything about cars. I am very relieved to have found this place and will definitely be coming back for anything my family's cars need. Highly recommend!

We own two aging Toyotas, and up until last year, had been having difficulty finding a good shop that was happy to work on older cars. My hunt finally brought me to Coastal Car Care. It is 24 miles from our residence, but well worth every mile. When we chose to keep driving our older cars, more maintenance was to be expected, and sometimes the problems that come up are harder to diagnose. This is where this family-owned business really pays off! The combined knowledge with two generations of experience at this facility really makes a difference! I’ve been working a lot with Cory there, and as an example of this expertise, we had a problem for 1 1/2 years with our Camry stalling intermittently, happening about once a month. The car wouldn’t “act up” in the shop, and previous mechanics couldn’t figure it out. Cory’s systems knowledge kicked in, however, and he quickly solved the problem! We’re so thankful to have safe, reliable transportation once again. I’m convinced this is the best independent shop in North County. The integrity, professionalism, and expertise I’ve witnessed here is a huge relief, and I know we’ve found a shop we can depend on in the days to come.

I recently purchased a 1970 Mach 1, and it needed a few things to improve driveability. I took it in to Coastal and Cory and team knocked it out of the park. I received the car back today and it drives like a new car. They fixed all the little things that were annoying me, and they found and fixed one other issue as well. I was also pleasantly surprised when I found that the bill was about 20% lower than initially estimated. This is the second car I've taken to them and I plan to bring all future cars to them as well. Their technical expertise is very impressive, but I appreciate their honesty even more.
