They have decades of experience but most importantly a pleasure to deal with. I drove all the way to Savannah for my Commando experience! 3yrs and over $30k lost, my coworker and another friend still don't even have their vehicles back. Lawsuits for years. No accountability. Can't tune a car, doesn't stand behind their work. Absolutely awful.

So I've been largely cursed and then somewhat blessed with auto shops and mechanics in Savannah and by far, this is the most professional and welcoming garage family I've come across in past 15 years. They're an oasis in what really is a desert for mod and performance so wouldn't go much further if you're looking as you'll find some vanity speed shops who are just set up for themselves and their friends, or the kind of place that will smile, take you in when they're slow, but back burner your project and then hand your vehicle back disheveled, full of uninstalled parts they charged you for and still want the bill satisfied. Its a rather unsavory area trust me, and I'm not a hard customer. Even so, I was shocked in a local search of Savannah, Pooler, Rincon, etc, that no shops would touch headers. There was even a shop in Augusta advertising themselves as "custom exhaust" yet bizarrely would NOT do headers. And I'd have driven the 2 hours there if they had. Thankfully the guys at Savannah Classic Cars pointed me to Commando, and Steve and his crew saved the effort! Very easy going, gentlemanly, good listeners (hello!) and admit openly when they don't know the answer to something. In this capacity, much time and money is saved on everyone's end. The place has a fun vibe too and the lobby full of hot rod inspired decorum, is really an extension of the heart and soul of what they do and not for looks alone. We're already talking about the next phase of my project!

First let me start by saying, after all the time wasted and money spent, I'm not a person who usually write reviews or is quick to give ringing endorsements.That being said, I have to turn you on to this shop. If you are tired of all those so called "Mechanics Shops" who end up making excuses why the quality of work wasn't what you expected. Then this is the shop for you!!! It's been over a year since Steve and the guys installed a complete exhaust system, Holley sniper efi, and wiring in my 1951 Chevy Bel Air and I am completely satisfied!! Now I can finally love/enjoy my car. For over a year now I've had the confidence to just turn the key and go. No more worrying whether if the car would start or make it back home. Not only did they give me piece of mind, but the ability to fully appreciate my ride. For anyone who's been waiting for the day when they could finally say, I've found that shop that knows what they're doing . Commando Racing from now on!!

This is the second time I’ve bought my 76 Stingray to Steve’s shop, Commando. After the first time they worked on my car they gained my complete confidence in their work. This time I had Dakota digital gauges installed. While they had the front dash apart, they told me something that I already knew was an issue. When I purchased the car and after two other shops, the electrical wiring under the dash was a disaster. Steve’s guys rewired everything under the dash and installed the new gauges. Finally all of my electrical issues have been corrected. My wife uses a portable oxygen generator, we couldn’t go on any longer rides without the cigarette lighter working, now everything works properly. The car runs great and hopefully I won’t have to see you for a while, for the car anyway. Again thank you Steve and your crew Jack
