Rod and the rest of the staff took extremely good care of me, I had a flat that unfortunately couldn't be patched. They tried absolutely everything going above and beyond. And after the patch still didn't take because the hole was too big they put my spare on for me free of charge. Their prices were very reasonable and I could tell they were focused on customer experience. Don't take your car anywhere else!

I’ve been at least 5 times with 2 different cars and my experience has always been excellent. The prices and service are wonderful. If they’re doing diagnostic work or they notice something additional they recommend servicing, they send a text to an online portal with details and an approve/decline button. They’ve never pressured me to do any kind of extra work and so I trust them when they say something should be done.

Got a diagnose done and was told I have an oil leak. I wanted to know more about this oil leak and the person in charge didn’t offer any input nor wanted to put me in contact with someone else that could help. I was told if there is a huge puddle to go get it checked… Also, as a BYU student I didn’t know they had a discount: they didn’t even offer nor ask me about that so thanks I guess.

Excellent service, highly recommended! I took my car to this shop after other places couldn’t figure out the problem. Here, they diagnosed it quickly, explained everything clearly, and got it fixed fast. You can tell they care about doing things right, not just swapping parts to guess. The customer service was honest and respectful, with no pressure or surprise charges. I’ll definitely be coming back if I need anything else. Really grateful for the team’s work.

Absolutely terrible. Went to get a brake lights fixed, got charged $90 for them to mess up the blinker light and not even fix one of the brake lights. Went it got it all fixed at Walmart for $15. Waste of money. Terribly unethical facility, taking advantage of students.

Took my car into the shop and they charged me $300 and said they couldn’t find the problem. Took it home to another shop and they instantly found problems with the temperature and a leaky pipe. Do not ever go there, they’ll rip you off.

Cougar Tire did an amazing job on my car! The team is incredibly professional, patient, and honest. Their customer service is top-notch—everyone was so nice, helpful, and made sure I understood everything. It’s rare to find a shop that truly cares about its customers like they do. Highly recommend!

I had an excellent experience at Cougar Tire & Auto. I went in for an oil change and was pleasantly surprised to get a free inspection as well. The staff was professional, efficient, and very knowledgeable. Everything was explained clearly, and I really appreciated the level of care and attention they provided. Highly recommend them if you’re looking for honest and reliable service!

My car broke down on the freeway because the engine and transmission seemed they had blown so we towed it here. They ran an initial diagnostic (that they claimed only detected a faulty battery) and then said it would be 500 dollars to replace it and the diagnostic cuz it required a “special battery” (but the battery should only be $209 for my car). I denied it because I felt it was too high and someone called me and aggressively told me to come pick up my car, so I gave in and approved the battery replacement. They then told us that the car was all good and to pick it up because nothing else was wrong. As soon as I got in the car, the engine reved like a lawn mower and the transmission started dying. Not a good experience, never going here again. Update: We took the car to a mechanic up in Orem and they sent us to a transmission shop who checked our transmission (for free) and then they checked the car and found out the engine mount had snapped…pretty noticeable…they then found a way to fix it for cheap and our car has been running smoothly ever since. Not sure how Cougar Auto and Tire missed the entire engine shifting around in the hood.

*AWFUL NEW OWNERSHIP, WORTH READING* I came in for a tire replacement and brake inspection due to a grinding noise that recently showed up on my 2005 scion xB. I told them about the noise and that it was coming from the front passenger side. After the inspection they told me that the front pads had 4mm left which is getting close but wouldn’t cause grinding so I would have to pay over $100 for a diagnostics inspection just to figure out what was making the noise. I decided to take a look myself and it turns out that one of my front passenger side pads was metal on metal and the rotor was very scraped up (pictures attached). This was not hard to find. Additionally, it was advertised that they would price match tires with no hassle and that there would be a free alignment included with any 4 tire change purchase. Well, I was hassled, they did price match but said that because the price was so low they’d have to charge for the alignment. So, instead I got a discounted price of ~$85 for the alignment, (part of a different deal that they had going on) which was fine but still $85 more than what was promised. But now for the bad part. UPDATE: I noticed that my car was pulling on the freeway when I went up to SLC a couple weeks after the service and my initial review, so I went back in and asked them to recheck the alignment. If they didn’t notice a scraped up rotor in plain sight, one could imagine they didn’t get the alignment very precise either. After having the car for the day they told me that the alignment was good. That didn’t make sense to me because the car seemed to be pulling even worse after the second time. I decided to check the pressure of the tires and they were at 42, 42, 36, and 35 PSI. I checked with 3 different gauges because I seriously couldn’t believe it. My tires are all supposed to be at 29 PSI. After I fixed that, the car was still pulling so I went to discount tire in Orem to get a free alignment check and as expected, it was very off with the left front tow at -0.3 degrees (picture included below). Discount tire then fixed the alignment, even though I only had asked for a check, but at least the car was now finally driving straight. I went back to cougar tire right after that, explained the situation, and just asked for a refund on the alignment that was supposed to be free in the first place. The guy at the front desk was noticeably annoyed that I was back and told me that I would not be getting a refund because I should’ve come back to them a 3rd time instead of going to discount. I asked to talk to the owner and he said he’d give the owner my number and the owner would reach out to me. That was over 2 weeks ago, I never got a call. So, to sum it up, they told me that my brakes were fine when they were metal on metal. They overinflated all of my new tires and 2 of them by 13 PSI which is absolutely insane for a tire shop to do. They messed up my alignment twice and refused to refund it when it was supposed to be free in the first place. And they failed to provide anything like good customer service throughout this whole thing despite several chances and I had been nothing but respectful to them every time I went in despite the awful service. I imagine that their equipment must be miscalibrated but they also happen to be unapologetic about it and dishonest about their marketing. You'd be better off taking your business to an established brand, there seems to be reasons these guys are so cheap. I’ve never had such unapologetic bad service.

DANGEROUSLY INCOMPETENT AND ZERO ATTENTION TO DETAIL. We will never take our vehicle back to them even if they were to offer the work for free. My son has been taking his vehicle to them while away at college for the past 3 years. I had no idea of the level of dangerous incompetence until I recently visited and had to finish Cougar Auto's work for them. I've had three repairs done by them on three separate occasions; replaced the wire harness on headlights, replaced radiator, and replaced the alternator and battery. My son had to take his car back because the wire harness failed within a few weeks. He also had to have the car towed back a few days after the radiator replacement because a hose came loose and sprayed coolant all over the engine. They hooked up the hose; supposedly checked things over, and said everything was fine. This past weekend I discovered the car was completely empty of coolant and there was an obvious leak where the line connects to the radiator. Once again they didn't tighten the clamp, this time on the other end of the hose! We just had the alternator and battery replaced a few weeks ago. While I was visiting my son last week, his car wouldn't start. After checking things over, running diagnostic tests and discovering all sorts of issues related to work that Cougar had done extremely poorly, I replaced the starter myself. There biggest problem is that they don't tighten bolts and screws back up after they've installed something. There are so many screws, bolts, and harnesses missing from under the hood I am infuriated. They've also broken the fuse box cover and lost a couple of clamps to the air filter. The nut securing the positive terminal from the battery to the fuse box was loose and causing intermittent electrical issues (likely loosened by them when they did the alternator work). The entire support assembly and screws for the air filter is missing. The air filter is basically just suspended by the hose. The entire Air Inlet Duct is GONE! That's a $227 part. In order to replace the alternator, you have to loosen two bolts on the AC compressor. These incompetent mechanics never bothered to tighten those AC compressor bolts after the replacement. One of the bolts was nearly falling off. It was backed out about 3 - 4" and rattling around and the other bolt was also backed out by an inch. He had mentioned that the serpentine belt was squealing on occasion and now I knew why; it wasn't under proper tension because they never tightened the compressor down. Also, all of the pipes and vents along the underside near the AC compressor were just loose; they were never secured back onto the frame. Don't be fooled by their "Cougar" name, all their 5 star reviews, discounts to students, and convenient location close to BYU. I highly recommend you don't send your son or daughter there while they are away at college. These are by far the worst mechanics I have ever encountered.

I live in TN and recently traveled to visit my daughter at BYU. Her car needed a small fix I needed help with, and I wanted to make sure it was complete before I flew home. With very limited time in town, I drove across the street from the dorms to Cougar Tire to find some help. Although they were completely slammed, I explained my situation and they went above and beyond to help me that very day! Chris Thomas is the manager and showed great care to help make it happen. Jay manning came right out and together we completed the fix. For any out of town parents, students, or residents of Utah County, this is the place to go! They will treat you right!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ What a fantastic place to get a fast, reliable oil change. A true Utah family business with excellent service. I was greeted by their friendly and professional front-desk staff right away. Tara was especially helpful, knowledgeable, and a fantastic addition to the team. Highly recommend!

My driver’s side mirror was smashed by a buck and was literally hanging on by wires and duct tape when I brought it in. Austin at the front desk, Duncan the technician, Chris the advisor, as well as the rest of the team at Cougar Tire were very friendly and prompt in fixing it and got it done in less than an hour. I waited in the office while they worked on it and they gave me free cookies and drinks, an air freshener and a 10% discount ($50 off) for being a BYU student when it was done. The mirror looks as good as new. You’d never be able to tell that it was smashed by a deer. Would definitely recommend Cougar Tire!

Reasonable prices, friendly people, and good quick service but I was told they would put the keys and paperwork under the mat so I could pick my car up after hours and they did not do that. I commute to work on weekends and they are closed weekends so this was very inconvenient. 2 stars instead of 1 because they had free snacks in the waiting area. Update: It was totally my fault. I had forgotten to take care of the payment online and I didn’t put two and two together even though it’s pretty standard not to release keys until after payment and that was even directly communicated to me on Friday. Chris and Kayla helped me, and they were super gracious and helpful even after I made a stink about something that wasn’t their fault. Couldn’t have asked for better service and I will be coming back if I have any car issues in the future! I would leave 6 stars if I could because they have free snacks in the waiting area.

It was an ok experience. The workers were nice and there were snacks in the lobby. The work however is unbelievably slow. Took over an hour for an oil change. I was expecting it to be cheaper than jiffy lube or anywhere around especially with the student discount but it was about $10 more than my usual 10-15 minute oil change at jiffy. I should mention I also had an appointment and as far as I could tell my car was the only one being worked on, so it’s not like they were really busy. Overall not a bad experience, price wasn’t too bad and all the workers were friendly and willing to talk to me at any point, plus updates through text.

I had gone to other places to get an alignment done on my 24’ Corolla and had some poor experiences with one place even giving me a quote of about $900. Camden answered the phone and was super helpful and I was able to get the alignment for $120 with no issues. Jose did a great job working on the car and Tara was super helpful in giving me information about the repair. They had other recommendations but were very straight up and honest which isn’t usually seen at car places.

I brought my car in with a flat tire and low psi on all of my tires. My wheels and rims were shot. Chris was so helpful!! He replaced all my tires and rims, going out of his way to find rims that were more affordable (saving me over a thousand dollars!). He also got the parts more quickly than we’d originally expected, and I was able to take my car home after only a weekend in the shop. I’m so grateful to him for helping make my car safe to drive again!
