Absolutely horrible service, called to get a quote, was on hold for 40 minutes with no answer. Would not recommend them to anyone.

Tried to get my Jeep in for a minimal job of changing an oil pan. The Tech said his business was too booked up to take on any work & mentioned he still advertises though.

I went there to have them check my transmission. I also had bad bearings in the right rear of my van. I thought they just did transmissions. They were able to fix the bearings for me right on the same day. Thanks to all!

One of the worst experiences possible. Dropped off my car and they never called me to inform me what was going on. Had my car 2 and 1/2 weeks and only called when they wanted money. Would never recommend them to anyone

Very knowledgeable to what needs to be done. Left car Sunday night and was finished with repair by noon Monday. Will definitely use them again.

I have been researching them and checking with people about there work. I have been hearing that they are one of the best. I have a Camaro that needs transmission work and am considering sending it to them to do it.

July 2021.Just dropped off my truck. Too soon to really rate them. 9/3 Update on my truck and its transmission: It's working better then when I had the factory transmission in it! Thanks guys, you'll be my 1st recommendation for transmission work.

My car was running fine until it wasn't. I lost reverse but all other gears worked just fine. I am a very good backyard mechanic. I have rebuilt engines and do nearly all of my own repairs. While I understand transmissions and how they work, it's the middle of winter and I didn't want to sit out in my gravel driveway to do my own work. I took my car to Croteau's to have them diagnose what was wrong with it. I figured that it's worth the $50. They called me back in 1 hour and told me that I needed a new transmission. $2100 to swap it out with a very used one, (150Kmiles), $3K for a rebuild and $3500 to swap it out with a rebuilt one. When I asked what diagnostics were performed, I was told that they started the car and drove it around the block, they checked the transmission fluid level and hooked up a scan tool(My daughters know how to do this). I had already done these very basic and simple checks and told them that there were no codes and that reverse just stopped working when I brought it in for service. They didn't take anything apart and really had no idea why reverse had stopped working. When I asked the older gentleman about other possible causes, his statement was, "I don't work on those types of transmissions so I really don't know." So you know, a bad valve or check ball within the valve body is easily seen by taking the Bottom cover off and would have caused the same symptoms. They didn't do that. Sure, rebuilding the transmission will fix the issue because you just replace everything. Stating that a rebuild is "needed", when they don't even know because they didn't check it properly. Because it is currently only single digits outside and I don't have a garage, I decided to go a different route. I called Don's and picked up a good used transmission with 60K miles and a 6 month warranty for $525 with free delivery. I then called Damascus Services and asked them how much to swap out my transmission - $450. So, for $975 I was able to get my transmission replaced. Croteau's wanted more than twice that for the exact same service. Mind you, we aren't talking about twice the cost of a $10 or $20 item. We are talking the difference between $1000 and $2000+. I have been working on my own cars from the age of 14. I'm 53 now and am tired of places like this ripping people off. Stay away from them. Damascus Services, while a bit out of the way is the place to go. Croteau's thinks that because they are the only transmission place in town that you have to use them. Show them that they are wrong and force them to change the way they do business or don't give them any. In my opinion, they don't use common sense, they over charge and they are only in it for the $. They don't really diagnose anything. There are over 800 parts in your transmission and one of them breaking does not mean you need to rebuild the whole thing.

The shop and techs were super neat and clean! Courteous and professional. Diagnosis wasn’t a transmission issue but would definitely feel confident in taking my vehicle to this shop.

Scott is the kind of guy who would drop everything to help a total stranger. I know, because I was that stranger. My family and I were stranded 50 miles from home with a loose brake caliper (thanks to poor work done at another shop). He diagnosed the problem and fixed it so we got home safely. He's a good person, the type of guy you want working on your car.

Worse place to go to, they rip you off and they lie blankly to your face. Made a mistake doing business with them, don’t want anyone else to make the same mistake. Would not recommend doing any kind of business with them. After 2 days Update: Confronted them about their horrible services and outcomes. Got very angry and loud with me, where as I was simply talking and asking if they could be honest with me.

let me start off by saying, as a "professional driver" we are held to the standard that we should be able to avoid the unavoidable and if not we are held responsible! my truck has been to this shop 4 times for the same problem and the last time was because someone changed myy old u joint and said I was good to go but in less than 200 miles not only did it blow out but it damaged my drive shaft on my way to work and I had to miss a Friday route, which amounted to about $600 for the day and pay a tow bill which amounted to over mileage of $150.. all I asked for was reimbursement of the tow and got told "I lost money too"!! im sorry, do you not hire "professionals"? do you not hold them accountable for their mistakes? your loss is not my responsibility.. but my loss due to negligence IS your responsibility.., The kicker now is the problem that I originally brought my truck there for.. watery oil leaking from the shaft.. someone wasn't paying attention because this shaft is leaking too.... called them and got zero response.. guess I should go to small claims court...

Man who works the phone and front desk lives one miserable life. He will try to belittle every single thing you say, both over the phone and to your face. I also received a call my car was ready for pickup. $20 uber there to be talked down to and my car no where near being done and having to leave. Truly it would be worth it to pay the extra money and bring it to a dealership instead of bringing your car here. Save yourself the headache. Good luck and stay safe
