Took my truck here for a state inspection in 2014. The inspection technician said three of my lights were out (license plate light, rear parking light, and front fog light) He also said my front shocks were not up to spec because the rebound from a 250 lb man sitting on the front bumper had to many up/down travels. The shocks were factory Toyota and less than 4 years old. They said it would cost me $400 to do the repairs. My father who is a mechanic had recently given me the truck as it used to be his. I knew the truck was in tip top condition. I told them to return the keys to me and I'll take my truck elsewhere. Upon looking at the lights they said were out, I saw the technician had UNPLUGGED THEM. This inspection technician is a crook. Do not take your vehicle here for an inspection if the inspections are still done by the 2014 technician.

Most fair and honest mechanic I've ever dealt with. The guy below complaining about the guy on the phone doesn't realize its because he takes the time to make sure every customer feels important. One time the owner recognized my wife walking to pick up her car from there after getting some work done, he stopped and gave her a ride to the garage.

This place is terrific! Not fancy which I’m sure turns some people off but fairly priced, honest & on time. Chin has never suggested unnecessary work or tried to “up sell.” We’ve discovered this gem on a friends recommendation & have been going here for at least 5yrs & have brought 4 different cars for him to work on. Even tho we don’t live close by whenever our cars need service or major repairs we come here.

I've took my car at a dealer and a local repair shop run by an American so far. They charged the price ridiculously high. I took another broken car from the same part I repaired five years ago and left it here, but it was repaired for less than half the price. mr. shin seems to be a very honest and reliable person.

Mr. Shin is a family friend of a family friend. Lol. He is honest and works with you. Not too many honest mechanics but his revolving business is based off of his honest and professional service. Give him a shot! Plus his labor rates are more fair than on the high end.

I never write reviews but I have to for this auto shop. I have been going to this mechanic for years (back when it was East Street Citgo) and have sent my friends and family to him as well. He is EXTREMELY honest and very skilled. This is a rare combination to find in a mechanic. I have now moved and hour away from Frederick but we still bring our cars to him if we have major problems/issues because I wouldn't trust anyone else. He is excellent!

Shin has taken care of my Subaru since I first bought it almost a decade ago. He has never once upsold us or charged an unfair price for an unnecessary repair. After selling my car, a different inspection place told us it would be $3000 to get my car ready for inspection. Shin took a look and told us half of the list they gave us was bs, and that he could get it ready to pass for less than $200. Friendliest, kindest mechanic I know, cannot recommend enough.

I've used Mr.Shin for about 2 years. I had been searching for a reasonable and honest mechanic since my old mechanic retired. Just take a look when you drive past and you will understand why this is one of Frederick's best kept secrets. It's not fancy on the outside, but they are servicing everything from very high-end, to low-end autos. Highly trustworthy with ANY car, and I have taken many here over the years from across the spectrum. Service has always been top quality and pricing is exceptionally fair. Mr. Shin, the owner and lead mechanic, is VERY knowledgeable and easy to work with. This is not your franchised mechanic shop. It's a small family owned business which has served Frederick for 15+ years. They were formerly known as "East Street Citgo", but let go of gas sales (~2015) to better focus on auto service, which was always their core business. Again, high quality service and very fair pricing. Definitely worth going to.

I've been really remiss in not submitting a review sooner as I have been taking my cars to Mr. Shin since he first bought the Citgo Gas station. That has to be at least 10 years. During that time I have never been disappointed in his work, nor have I ever suspected that he might be trying to sell me something that I really didn't need. I bought my first car in 1966 and I've encountered many auto mechanics of varying skill level and, sorry to say, honesty. I put Mr Shin at the top in both categories and I've never heard anyone personally complain about him or his work.
