I had made an appointment for just before 5pm, and braved a storm heading back to KC to make the appointment. When I called by 4:30, about to arrive, the old man who typically picks up the phone said I was too late, and hung up on me. I called him back, trying to get more information about when I could do what they originally told me I could do. This man was tremendously rude, chastised me for asking when on Monday I could come in, and said “Ma’am, you’re asking too much for a $12 inspection.” So- asking for an appointment time is too much, and if he doesn’t want to talk to you, he’ll hang up on you. I thought I’d found a place to take my car, but I was clearly very wrong about that.

I got in and out quickly for my inspection. The dmv told me I needed an emissions test and they told me I didn't, which was great! I bought my car in Kansas and they also put the front plate on for me. Super nice guy and we even chatted for a few minutes when he was done. Great customer service. Would definitely recommend.

Speedy and great work on my car. They squeezed me in for a last minute oil change before they closed and on another occasion saved me a few hundred on shocks and struts compared to other quotes… and they had it done in just a few hours!

My wife went to Frank and Bobs for an inspection to renew plates. They called to say that the rear brakes were leaking fluid and needed replaced. They quoted around $900 for all four brakes, and if we just replaced the rear ones, about $400 less. Expecting it to be around $400-$500, she told them to just replace the rear breaks. When she picked up the car, they had charged us $927.99. And this was just for the rear brakes. I went in to question them after this, and the owner tried to tell me that it was "just an estimate". Their estimate was about 50% off the final price? I looked on the invoice and they charged $131.98 for each caliper. Autozone does not have one listed for this car over $91.99. Rear rotors were invoiced at $98.99. Autozone sells them for $52.99. They mark up parts up to almost %100 in addition to the labor charge. This is unacceptable. I went up to get the difference back and Nick wanted to have a shouting match before begrudgingly refunding $80.00 (about half what it should have been). He tried to tell me that never has anyone accused him of this in 50 years. Looking at other reviews, that is a complete lie and it happens all the time. I don't fault the mechanics, they seem nice. It is the owner that will overcharge whatever is quoted to you. Please take your car somewhere else, they are not honest with pricing. PS - see attached invoice for the parts we were charged. Look up prices for yourself for an '06 Honda Civic.

I bring my Jeep in there for oil changes and any issues I may have. The owner and mechanics are very professional and prompt with their work. I recommend this shop for anyone. They do what your vehicle needs with out screwing you over like most do. I appreciate these gentlemen, I was there today with brake issues and they figured out the issue with no extra labor. They could of charged me but knowing I will be back and a client for life they did not. Tony

Nick, at Frank & Bob's, never fails me in my automotive woes. This time was a flat tire that couldn't be repaired. Had it towed to the lot after closing, got the new tire & had it home before 4:00 pm that day. Reasonable prices, prompt service. I've been using them for 17 years. Highly recommend you give them a try.

I have been here many times and never had a bad experience. In fact they installed tie rods and bushings and the bill was $50 cheaper than the original quote. They happen to get the parts cheaper. They are always more than willing to explain everything they did. And answer all your questions.

One of the most expensive in the city yet poorest in quality and customer service. They're snippy, rude and if you don't pick your car up within a couple hours after they call, they call and threaten to charge you lot fees. I've taken my vehicles there 3 times and every time I've been overcharged and had to take it somewhere else to fix what they either didn't (and claimed they did) or to have fixed what was actually the problem rather than what this place claimed was the issue. DO NOT take your vehicle here.

Told them my car was having trouble starting and to only fix that and ended up getting everything fixed and a $700 bill and my car didn’t start at all when I got the keys back and charged me an extra $300 for a new starter when I told them. Had my dad call them because they were obviously taking advantage of me and they told him, “she never said it was having trouble starting,” even if that was true if they turned on my car once they would know there’s an issue there, you know, as mechanics. Oh and not even one week passes and my car dies on Ward Parkway, less than a month passes and my battery dies completely, and 2 months go by and I find out my spark plugs they changed aren’t even on correctly and I’ve been running on 4 cylinders instead of 6. All that money and work done and they couldn’t fix all that too? Worst service I’ve ever gotten with any type of business. I recommend never going there.

NO COMMUNICATION AND A HUGE UNAUTHORIZED BILL. I called and asked how much it was to get an estimate. I was quoted $60. I dropped the car off at 2:30 pm. An hour later they told me I needed an oil change badly and it was only $110 extra. I approved this fee. Then when I came to pick up the car at 4:30 pm the bill was close to $500. They never called to get authorization of the repair. They just did it and demanded the money. I paid it. However, I wish I had read the reviews on here, about how they keep doing this over and over. This is the second time they have taken advantage of me. Do your self a favor, go somewhere else. Unless you have deep pockets and can afford a lot of extra charges. These people are ridiculous. The older gentleman loves to yell at you and argue.

I should’ve never believed the “we will call you with a price” promise the old, creepy and rude man that owns this place. I had a gut feeling but I trusted. Called me a day later saying the car was ready and it was going to be $850. No authorization, no call, no nothing. Instead he yelled at me on the phone saying “I thought you’d be happy that we fixed your car.” “What were you going to do? Take the car from here?” I feel taken advantage of and after doing some research, it turns out the issue my car had was worth no more than $300. What a disgrace. Seems like they do this to most everyone that pays them a visit.

What a scam and joke of a place. They shouldn't promise to do work that they clearly don't know how to do. They said they could repair my truck, and then after a week they called. I assumed they were calling to say my truck was ready. NOPE! They called to say they are too busy to do the job and I needed to come take it somewhere else.

AVOID THIS SHOP. They charged just over $250 to top-off coolant, and change a brake switch. These were unauthorized repairs without prior approval, and when calmly asking for an itemized receipt and explanation, the shop owner became verbally aggressive and hostile—yelling, accusing us of calling him a con artist, and making alarming comments. This was all documented on video. The experience was deeply unprofessional and emotionally abusive. Multiple other one-star reviews report similar issues: unauthorized work, lack of consent, and aggressive behavior. This pattern is concerning and needs serious investigation.

If you’re looking for an honest mechanic, go elsewhere. I asked if something specific would be an issue for my state car inspection, they couldn’t give me a straight forward answer. I left visibly upset, and one of the guys came over and told me to come back in and they’d take care of me. Yet they still failed me and took my money. Way to kick someone while they’re already down, I really appreciate it.

I shouldn't have taken my vehicle here. The man who runs it didn't strike me as trustworthy when we first spoke. When I walked out, I almost turned around to retrieve my vehicle but decided to give them a chance. That was a mistake. I asked over the phone to make an appointment and get a quote. He waved me off. "Just bring it in," he said to every question. I should have known then to take it to the place I normally do. My requests were simple - oil change, inspection, check tires, quote repairs. I wrote it all down so there was no misunderstanding. I had to fill out the service slip myself. They don't use a computer, they use carbon copies. The man running the place said he didn't know what a "quote" was. He said he didn't know what the "FD" (front drivers') or "RP" (rear passengers') tire was, and asked me to clarify repeatedly. When I picked it up, he charged me $152. This was $15 per tire for checking them, plus $94 for the oil change (this must be magic oil) plus $15 for the oil change labor (I guess $94 wasn't enough). I paid with my debit card, which he did not return. I was in a hurry so I failed to notice. I called the next day to ask about my card, and he said he didn't know about that, then hung up on me. This man does not inspire confidence and does not strike me as trustworthy. I wouldn't go there again. I shouldn't have gone there the first time. There were many glaring red flags which I ignored because of the convenient location. The shop workers, however, seemed friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable, which is why they get 2 stars instead of 1.

I would rate this place 0 stars if I could. Incredibly rude and unprofessional. I took my car in for a simple diagnostic because it would take multiple tries to start the engine sometimes. I got quoted $600 for a new starter. I said okay, thank you for looking at it but I can’t do the service today; I’ll need to call my dad and see what I can do. They got rude and defensive when I said I wasn’t going to do the service immediately. Then, when I went to pick up my car, the mechanic continuously laughed and made condescending comments like, “are you serious? she isn’t getting the starter? well it isn’t going to start.” I’m like okay, it started just fine this morning it’s not at that point yet, I’ll have to bring it back later when I have the funds. Like am I supposed to pull $600 out of thin air? Just so many unnecessary comments that were mocking, rude, and unprofessional. It felt like they were taking advantage of me as a young woman coming into a car shop alone. It felt like my car was being held hostage unless I agreed to pay them $600. I told them that I would be having it towed to a friend’s shop up north instead. They said I could come get my car in a few hours and that maybe it needed time to “cool down”. 20 minutes after I left, I got a call saying they got it started and I could come pick it up. Overall a terrible experience, little to no customer service training at this place. I’ll be getting my car looked at elsewhere. Do not take your car here, especially if you are a young woman! They will be rude to you and pressure you into spending a lot of money on the spot.

Terrible owner, great mechanic. The guy running the joint yells at staff in front of customers and pressures them to price hike. The guy helping my diagnose my car was really good at de-escalating and even better with engines- hope hes doing okay.

Same as the other reviewers that say they were scammed. I took my car in for something simple and was told a price, when I picked it up it was $50 more than we agreed on when I left. I told them I would take it somewhere else before they did the work, they agreed to do it for the same cost as the other place and LIED!!! DO NOT TAKE YOUR CAR THERE!

I stopped in for a state inspection, without an appointment, and they got right to it. They were friendly and efficient, and I was on my way on the short order. Not sure what happened in some of the other recent reviews, but these guys were recommended to me by a friend so I gave it a chance and I’m glad I did.

if i could give 0 stars i definitely would. i took my car in and spoke with the owner. he told me it would take 30 minutes before they could look at my car because they were finishing up another. i specifically told him to give me a call after they assessed what was wrong, before they did anything. after waiting for 1 and 1/2 hours without hearing anything i called up there. the owner had a bad attitude and said they just now started looking at it, and it would be 5 mins. guess what, another 45 mins passed and i called again. this time the owner was yelling at me on the phone. so at this point i just went up there. the mechanic was very friendly and explained everything he did. now i had to talk to the owner. he tried talking with me, but quickly turned into him yelling again. then it comes time for him to tell me “i’ll just give it to you today. it’s $65” first of all… i said to call me before you did anything. then, how are you going to say “i’ll give it to you” and then charge them. the owner ASKED me “so you don’t want to pay it?” i said “no i don’t want to pay it, that’s not what we discussed and agreed upon before the car was looked at. the owner then yelled me to leave, called me a crybaby and a cheapskate. i feel bad for the mechanic. he just stood there as the owner was yelling at me. seemed like this is a pretty regular thing for him to witness. i hope that mechanic can get out and find a better boss. so save yourself the hassle KC and don’t come here!
