So they checked my transmission for me when I was losing 4th gear in overdrive. They were honest and really worked with me when they told me I needed a new transmission. They priced out about 5different options for me and so truly felt like they empathized with me and my situation. Ultimately I didn’t get the work done here (just the inspection) but I would really really not at all hesitate to get work done here. 5/5 honest guys and quality work. You’ll be treated fairly here. *update* I was really impressed with the service I got from Great bridge auto when I went in for my transmission that I went back with some engine issues with my ‘04 F150. They stayed late and very tactfully delivered the news that I needed a new engine. They priced out, ordered and installed a new engine within a very short timeline keeping me updated along the way. I had some issues post install with a parasitic electrical draw and a radiator hose clamp. They fixed those issues right away as part of the install, very very happy and I have referred many customers to them for different issues and I will continue to use and recommend them.

My husband has been taking our personal and work vehicles here for sometime. I personally got to experience the professionalism the personalism of this company and I cannot say enough good things. When you’re stranded on a military base and you can’t get a hold of any tow truck at night ,Mike was the only person that was able to get me in contact with a tow company and saved the day! Absolutely was able to diagnose the problem while trying to help me get a tow and have my car back within 24 hours fixed and not skip a beat ! If you need work done to your vehicle I would highly recommend reaching out to them as they treat you like family ! Thanks as always for taking care of all of our automotive needs! For as long as we are in the area this is the only place will go !

Hands down, the only place I will take any vehicle I own. Mike and Fred are the absolute best guys in the business. They will not oversell you on stuff you don’t need, they are quick to diagnose the problem, and will take the time to explain everything to you. I recommend them to everyone that needs their vehicle repaired. I will never take my car anywhere else but here. So many other places will try to get you with the nickel and diming, but not this place. 10/10

Was searching for someone to do a transmission flush on our 2008 Ford Expedition. Called and spoke to Mike. He was hesitant in just giving me a price and wanted me to bring the vehicle in. Was able to get in quickly and he ran a thorough diagnostic test. Went over options and prices. Pricing was definitely fair. Only did what was needed. There's a huge difference between someone that can tell you what a book answer is & someone who can articulate what service life expectancy is of a part. I was very pleased with choosing Great Bridge Auto & Transmission Repair to replace my car radiator. Both men I spoke with and that worked on my car seemed very knowledgeable in answering any questions I had as well as knowledgeable in the car repair. I was given an estimate of the repair cost up front, and when to bring it back for repair once the part came in. Even at this they were extremely accommodating to my work schedule and it being my only means of transportation. I feel like the repair cost was comparable to other repair businesses. Customer service and friendliness of a business is very important to me. This business left me being very impressed in this area. To sum it all up, I would recommend this place of business if in need of car repair.

Recently my 2016 Hyundai Santa Fe began to lose power when accelerating. I took it to the dealership and they informed me the catalytic converter and exhaust assembly needed replaced. Over $8000 in repairs for a car that has over 120K miles. So I decided to take it to Great Bridge Auto to get a second estimate. Mike and his crew took the time to accurately diagnose my vehicle and determined not all those repairs were not necessary. In addition, they also found two other issues that were creating accelerating issues and were able to repair all issues for less than $3000. Can’t say enough good things about Great Bridge Auto and Transmission Repair. I would highly recommend them to anyone who wants to get their vehicle properly and cost effectively repaired.

I originally called and was inquiring about a service my car needed and FORD gave me a crazy price for this service. Mike told me my car did NOT need this service until the car gets to 100,000 mls. Clearly they are honest. Today I took my Cadillac for a brake service. After they inspected it they determined it only needed back brakes and the emergency brake assembly completely fell apart on its own. After all the service and replacement of all parts. I got the bill, nowhere close to what Cadillac was going to charge. They have a new customer for ever. Thanks guys

I've recently heard a lot of stories about untrustworthy mechanic shops in Portsmouth and I gotta give these guys their due now that I am comparing the 757 to where in Chesapeake I am originally from. I've been relying on them and falling back on them since 2008, car after car - beater after beater. They're completely upfront. Please, if they're hiring and you're a good mechanic, please please help them out. I'm sure you'll learn something even if it's not your mission to stay in Chesapeake forever. If Chris and Mike are still there, you can count on these people.

Chris and Mike are awesome people and I've been getting the value out of every dollar for almost two decades now. Life is short, don't go to a mechanic shop where they make you wait like Finks in Portsmouth. Go somewhere where they mean business even though they don't have the privileges other mechanic shops have -- Chris makes do with the space he has and he is hella good at it too without telling people one thing and turning around and doing something else without your permission later. Finks will do that, you'll hear more and more stories about it until they're investigated or they replace everyone but the mechanics over there. Chris at Great Bridge Auto doesn't play around. He understands the fundamental bedrock of business is to keep people coming back decade after decade, not ten times in two years through some finagled scam like Finks.
