Jim was amazing in helping us diagnose and repair some check engine codes. He got us in right away, found the problem, fixed the problem and got us on our way a lot sooner than any other shop in town would have. Most wouldn’t even see us on the weekend, let alone have us out of there fixed on a Saturday. I was able to learn alot about our truck and inspect his work. Jim is a top notch mechanic and I would be happy taming any car we ever owned to him.

Jim dropped everything on a Sunday to help us troubleshoot when the engine light came on in our RV. He met us at his shop, worked tirelessly to identify the problem and got the part we needed installed as quickly as possible. The next morning we were back on the road for our vacation. Driving from Denver to LA we encountered some slight mechanical problems. My one call led us to James. We told him what was going on, and he accurately diagnosed the first issue immediately. We took care of that, which allowed us to diagnose the main problem. He gave us the confidence we needed to proceed and make it home safely. All with what sounded like the worst cold of the season and on the one day he was forced to take off. I would not hesitate to spend a day or so in Grand Junction just to take my vehicle to James. I highly recommend Here or There Auto. James is a great mechanic, a smart and hard worker, a cool guy to hang around with, and a great conversationalist. On a cross-country trip with a buddy my car started making a sputtering noise and was unable to hold consistent RPM. My friend called Here or There and James told us that he could look at the issue. By the time we got there the sputtering was loud as ever but within 30 minutes James had diagnosed the problem and figured an estimate for the repair and confirmed with a parts store that what was needed was in stock. Over the next hour and change he got the part replaced and the engine purring again while being a joy to talk with about stargazing, old work stories, and travel. He fit us in to his busy schedule and at the end of the day he saved our trip. If you need emergency repairs, there are few better places to bring your clunker to than Here or There. If I lived in the area I'd bring my car into his garage regularly as James is a good mechanic and a good guy to hang around. 10/10.

10/10 recommend Here or There Automotive. My friend and I called Jame’s shop for an emergency hitch repair on our cross country road trip. A bolt had been torn out of the car frame. We had a wonderful experience and I couldn’t say thank you enough for all the help James gave us. He helped us unhook and reattach our trailer, fixed the hitch and even welded it to the car, and then charged us an incredibly reasonable and generously low price for his 4.5 hr repair. I am very grateful for all he did and his help.

I honestly don’t think I’ll ever meet a better mechanic than James. Not only is he incredibly skilled and trustworthy, but he’s also one of the kindest, most genuine people I know. He’s helped me out so many times. He’s always going above and beyond to make sure everything was done right and that I felt taken care of. It’s rare to find someone this good at what they do and this dependable. We became friends over the years, and now that I’ve moved to Washington, I realize just how lucky I was to have him around.
