Gave me super helpful advice on how I can begin to diagnose my issues myself, before needing to bring the car in - wonderfully helpful!

I had a flat tire and went there to get it fixed , he put the new tire on and sent me on my way. Then a few days later my car started making this awful noise like something was grinding together inside my car, I called and tried to get a Saturday appointment he left a voicemail on my phone stating he will be in around noon and to bring my car. I brought my car the place was closed , I called at least three times and left a voicemail and no answer and no response. So I left and Monday morning called another garage Brunner’s garage and I took my car over there and they call me and tell me that my Lugnuts were loose and if I would kept driving my tire would have fallen off and they asked who put my new tire on and I said and I just can’t believe it. My advice is not to go to this place because I paid 50$ thinking I got good service and it was a waste & I should have just went a block over to Brunner’s garage.

I don't normally write reviews but I had to today. So I recently moved back to PA, got my drivers license and was reading the DMV website about how to get PA plates etc. So I called a garage (not Kurt's) and asked if they did a VIN inspection (required for a title transfer), they said "sure, it'll take 10 mins", great I can go right to the DMV after. I show up and the mechanic says "wheres the paperwork?" to which I said "what paperwork". The mechanic tells me I have to go to a notary. So I go to a notary "we don't do automotive, but if you go to Kurt's on 18th he can do that". I pull up, talk to Kurt, I have in my possession A)my PA drivers License B)my proof of PA insurance and C)my out of state title and D)my checkbook. Turns out Kurt is a notary as well as a mechanic. So he did the VIN Inspection, Title Transfer, Registration, gave me plates, did the emissions inspection and my annual inspection. I though I was going to have to go to a Notary, the DMV and a mechanic. Kurt did everything right in his garage. Added bonus, he's a pretty cool guy to just chat with.

I had new brakes put on, on a Friday afternoon. I am from Cleveland and drove to Pittsburgh for the weekend. Once I got there I noticed that my back tire was smoking and my brakes weren't working correctly. I called Kurt at 530 on saturday night, he stayed late to check out my vehicle. The car needed major work and I was lucky my brakes didnt fail while driving. Kurt not only called to get the part that night, but came in and worked for 3 hours on Sunday just to get me back on the road. Its hard to find a good mechanic and Im lucky I found one when I was in a jam. Thanks, Kurt.

I first met Kurt in 2000 for some mechanical work. He gave me an estimate and went to work almost immediately. The work was excellent and professional. Over the years, he handles any problem that surfaces. If I were taking a cross country trip, Kurt would be the guy I'd see to check my vehicle over. I would have peace of mind during that trip.

A Pittsburgh icon. True Americana. I visited Kurt's in December of 2012 and took these photos.
