I had to take my wife’s 2015 Chevy Traverse in because the check engine light came on but all the other gauges were fine & it wasn’t running hot or anything. I got there at 8am they read the code and it was showing coolant sensor. They quoted a very reasonable price to replace the coolant sensor. About an hour later they called back and said it had a slow leak in the water pump which probably is the reason it was triggering the coolant sensor. (I never mentioned the water pump to them because I forgot about a year ago another mechanic shop told me I had a very slow leak in my water pump and quoted a crazy amount to change it. I didn’t have the money at the time so I would just add coolant about once a month and hoping it would hold until I had the money to replace it. Lafel’s found the problem themselves & quoted to change the water pump for a very reasonable price and they said I did not need to replace the sensor saving me money because the water pump was what was making the check engine light come on, these guys are very honest and fair in their pricing. It’s my first time coming here, I’m glad I found this place!!

Philipe was wonderful. I came in last night to go on a cruise tomorrow. My 2015 Tahoe LTZ gave me a brake fluid low warning. I went to Auto Zone and had more put in. Before I got back to the hotel it happened again. I called this garage to see if they could fix it today. They were wonderful! They explained what was wrong and gave me as estimate. They called a few hours later and said it was ready. Wish I could find a great garage back home in Myrtle Beach, SC that was as great as this one!

Unfortunately, my experience with Lafel’s Garage was extremely disappointing. I took my car to the shop due to a fuel injection issue. The initial diagnosis pointed to faulty fuel injectors, which cost me $1,142.45, and I picked up the vehicle on July 8th. However, less than a week later, the same issue returned. We brought the car back, and this time, they claimed the problem could be with the ignition coils, suggesting we replace them with OEM parts—even though we had already done that. Since the issue remained unresolved, they scheduled another visit for July 21st. To my surprise, I received yet another diagnosis, now stating the issue was with the fuel pump, leading to an additional charge of $478.54. In other words, an incorrect initial diagnosis cost me a total of $1,620.99. Another serious concern is the lack of transparency. The supposedly faulty parts that were replaced were not returned to me, which raises doubts about whether the parts were actually changed at all. I also requested A/C repair, but the service was not performed. When I questioned the inaccurate diagnostics and repeated labor charges, the owner refused to proceed with the A/C repair, stating that since I mentioned I wouldn’t be returning to the shop, he would not complete the service. This business does not stand behind its work, charges labor multiple times for the same unresolved issue, does not return replaced parts, and does not offer proper service guarantees. I do not recommend Lafel’s Garage. Their response to customer dissatisfaction was unprofessional, and their lack of transparency and accountability was deeply concerning.

I highly recommend this mechanic shop to anyone needing auto repairs. I brought my Subaru Outback in because it needed some significant work on the brakes and suspension. I had originally taken it to the local Subaru dealership, and they quoted me a staggering $1,300 for the repairs. I decided to get a second opinion at Lafel’s, and I am so glad I did. Not only did the team here quote me a much fairer price, but during their inspection, they actually found an additional issue that the dealership had completely missed. They completed the brake and suspension work, fixed the extra issue, and the total bill came out to just $811. That is incredible value for the quality of work provided.
