THE BEST SHOP IN SALEM! The quickest and most effective shop around Salem. Tesla's are known to be extremely complex and working with part suppliers can be a hassle but they did with ease and grace. They do quality work and wouldn't want to take my car anywhere else but here.

Chose them because they were closest to where we live and glad I did because the service was great. They went above and beyond replacing our rear door and making it look good as new.

Highly recommend mackins for your auto body repairs. I had my Tesla hit and after shopping around for auto body repair shops I finally found one that would actually work with insurance to not result in out of pocket costs. The individuals I worked with were nothing but professional and kind. They kept me updated every step of the way, the whole process took about a month, as they had to order some parts and the damage to the car was much more extensive than previously thought. I would come back here in a heartbeat if I needed to get my car repaired again and I highly recommend it to everyone

Greg was great and they do great work here. I have had both my cars repaired here over the years and they are good at communicating and usually pretty quick-as parts availability allows. Would definitely recommend to anyone.

I took my 2018 Tesla Model 3 Long Range AWD to Mackin’s Auto Repair in Salem, OR, after damage to the passenger headlight, right fender, and bumper. During the estimate, Erik clearly told me all three would be replaced. While the headlight was replaced, I am certain the fender and bumper were not — I can still see damage from the incident. This is unacceptable and makes me feel like the work promised was not done. The service experience was also extremely frustrating. I was told a rental would be ready the day I dropped off my car, but when that day came, nothing had been arranged. I had to call that same morning to even get the process started, only to be told there was an “insurance issue.” If I had known earlier, I could have planned for a ride, but instead, I was forced to inconvenience my pregnant sister to drive me to and from work. This entire experience has been stressful, disappointing, and a waste of my time!! If you have a Tesla or have Tesla Insurance, I strongly recommend skipping this place entirely!!! and going straight to a Tesla collision center instead, I will NOT be returning, and I hope my experience warns others before they go through the same frustration.

I was hit by a drunk driver on August 31st and chose Mackins to do the repairs. I got my Tahoe back today and am BEYOND thrilled with how amazing it looks. They not only have wonderful customer service but they went above and beyond to help restore my Tahoe to brand new condition. The paint matched my custom color PERFECTLY, polished the entire vehicle not just the new back end that was replaced, they detailed the inside and I think it’s the cleanest it’s ever been! I can’t say enough good things! This process stinks when you get hit and it’s completely not your fault but they helped it stink a lot less! Wyatt Prunk specifically the manager there, was THE most kind, informative and helpful person ever! Thank you Mackins!

101 Days to repair a Tesla Fender Bender, Is Mackin’s Salem Auto Body Worth It? I recently had my Tesla at Mackin’s Salem Auto Body for repairs, and unfortunately, my experience was far from ideal. I dropped off my car on September 16, 2024, and the shop quickly got approval from my insurance company a few weeks later. According to Mackin’s text updates, they received all the necessary parts on October 24, 2024. However, after receiving the parts, it took them an additional 61 days to repair my car. In total, my Tesla was at the body shop for a staggering 101 days. While I understand that repairs can take time, 61 days to begin work after all parts were received seems excessive and unjustified based on Mackin’s text updates. As someone who knows a former owner of multiple body shops in the Pacific Northwest with over 30 years of industry experience, I was curious about the reasons for the delay. After asking him several questions, it became clear that the wait time was not excusable given the circumstances. This raises an important question: Should Mackin’s Salem Auto Body remain certified by Tesla? Tesla’s certified repair network is intended to ensure high-quality, timely service, and such extensive delays could negatively impact the reputation of that network. I wonder if Tesla is aware of these prolonged wait times. While the repair was ultimately completed, including some suspension damage that was quickly repaired according to the shop’s text updates, the long wait left me disappointed. It’s important to note that this review is not meant to blame the employees at Mackin’s—they do the best they can with the resources available. The responsibility for these delays falls squarely on the management and owners, who should be doing everything in their power to speed up the process. I hope this review helps others understand what they might be in for if they choose Mackin’s for repairs. Do you want to wait 101 days for your car to be repaired? Additionally, remember that Tesla has multiple certified body shops in the Pacific Northwest, so it may be worth calling around to other Tesla Certified Body Shops to compare wait times. Also, while your auto insurance will cover up to 30 days of car rental, you will be responsible for the remaining 71 days if you need a rental. Think twice.

**edited 7/30: after leaving this review, Mackin’s reached out and offered to fix our window. The situation was frustrating, but I’m happy that in the end it was taken care of. I will reiterate that every person at the shop we dealt with in the office and who worked on the car were absolutely wonderful and I can also say that both repairs were done in a very timely manner. Picked up “fixed” car with a 11.5 inch crack on the front windshield that wasn’t there prior to the accident. (Same section of the car that was being worked on- front driver’s side). When inquiring about it, we were provided with grainy ”enhanced” photos that showed spots on the already dirty window, but not a single one of them showing an almost foot long crack. Conveniently, they didn’t have any clear photos of that area of my car. They claimed the spots could have been our almost foot long crack so there’s nothing they could do to help us. So now we’re out a whole second deductible to have this fixed. While the office gal and the guy who we worked with named Wyatt were kind and helpful, this was a sloppy mistake that should have been handled.

I brought my Tesla here from Eugene for an estimate after someone bumped into my car and I am so glad the Tesla app had this place listed and at the top of the list. I worked with Wyatt, the shop manager at Mackin’s, and he was so helpful, knowledgeable, and honest. I am recommending this place to anyone I know who needs body work on their car and especially Teslas. If this encounter is their standard way of operating, I am seriously impressed by the quality, professionalism and honest craftsmanship with which this business is run. I would give more stars if I could.

Mackin’s Auto Body is great. I have a very problematic vehicle that is a difficult repair. After taking my car back three times, they were still unable to solve the issue. But, the customer service is amazing!! From Joyce to Greg, they made me feel like I was their most important customer!! Their willingness to continue looking at the car is unmatched. And if it weren’t for the logistics of being a one car family, I would keep giving it back to them to try to fix. I highly recommend using Mackin’s Auto Body over the other guys.

When my brand-new Bronco was damaged, I trusted this shop with the repairs. They assured me a brand-new door and a two-week fix. Three weeks later, I was called in, only to find a dent still running across the door, mismatched paint, and visible defects. Worse, they revealed they’d put a used door on, claiming that’s what they “meant” all along. A new door means new—I’m not in the insurance business and take their word at face value. They never offered me a choice. I had to escalate to their boss at another location, only to discover the difference for a real new door was just $218. On a $70,000 brand-new vehicle—only 300 miles on it!—I would have gladly paid upfront. Instead, I lost weeks, endured poor communication, and had to fight for clarity. The whole process was unprofessional and left me frustrated.

We brought our Tesla to this shop after feeling unsure about another shop in Eugene, and we’re so glad we made the drive to Salem instead. The customer service was excellent, communication with Wyatt was clear and accurate throughout the process, and they were honest about what to expect from start to finish. The repair work was done beautifully and we felt taken care of the entire time. Highly recommend!

Oh my gosh, I could not be happier with the service I received from Mackins! My car was rear-ended and I needed them to assess the damage and repair anything that was damaged on the back of the car. Greg and Joyce made the whole process with the Insurance company totally painless. They even called Enterprise to come pick me up and take me to get my rental car! They found the muffler had been dented too so ordered all the parts and everything replaced and ready when they said it would be. They even washed the car! I can't say enough great things about them!

I had an excellent experience with Mackin’s Auto Body in Salem working on my Tesla. From start to finish, the team was incredibly friendly, professional, and clearly knowledgeable about Tesla repairs. Communication was top-notch. I was kept informed every step of the process and never once had to wonder what was going on or when things would be done. That kind of transparency is rare and appreciated. If you’re looking for a trustworthy auto body shop in Salem, especially for Tesla collision repair or body work, Mackin’s Auto Body is the place. I’d recommend them without hesitation and will absolutely use them again.
