Scot worked on my 1990 Westfalia Vanagon, got rid of the oil leaks and rebuilt the shifter. Performs well, did a great job, great service , highly recommend this accomplished mechanic.

I had some decent experiences with this shop so I decided to make it our go to for everything. But then this summer my wife took our car in for a fluid change and we were charged an eye popping 600+ dollars. 300 of which was for labor and a mysterious 45 for "shop supplies". That's the last time I'll use them for anything.

Well here it goes they gave me a list of stuff they were going to do, change plugs and wires change oil change fuel filter change transfilter and fluid and tackle weld exhaust! Now I'm skeptical of shops so I put my initials on every thing and marked bolts because my vehicle has never leaked! They changed the oil but didn't refill with correct amount!!! They changed trans filter bit didn't correctly tighten the pan also incorrect amount of fluid! Did not change plugs ,wires or fuel filter never fixed the exhaust put a temp sending unit in which I didn't ask for! They took out my floor mats for some reason the original chey set and my brand new catapillar set. Now I've called three different times and no one has returned my calls! So thank you midtown for stealing from a struggling family and lying to us as well great business ethics

I called ahead and asked if they would work on a car with significant rust (I mentioned another shop turned me down for it) they said it was fine. I was charged $130 for them to tell me they won't work on it cause of the rust.. while I appreciate honesty, I'm aggrevatied I was charged $130 for something I called ahead about and the last shop told me for free. I got the work done that was needed elsewhere, none of it required touching the rusted bolts they said they couldn't handle (rear brakes, valve cover gasket). It's from the rust belt, I've never had an issue getting work done on the east coast. I feel ripped off after they told me they could work with rust then charged me $130 for a "diagnosis" of "we can't work on rust". Ridiculous.

This is hands-down the best auto repair shop I have been to. I brought my car in for a condenser repair and replacement of the front bumper and headlights. This could have taken several days and been cost prohibitive. But Jeremiah went to bat for me and ordered the bumper, sent it out for painting, and had it ready to go by the time I left my vehicle at the shop. He was able to do some pretty extensive bodywork and mechanical repairs in the span of a single day! The work is incredible. The front end of my vehicle looks brand new. And the air conditioner was fixed perfectly. The whole thing was done with meticulous precision. He worked with me to give me a very fair price and have my insurance cover as much as was possible. Honest, fair, and caring. The ease of renting a car was also so appreciated. Jeremiah arranged for the rental prior to my arrival and I had dropped my car off and was in a rental in a matter of a half-hour. When I got my car back, Jeremiah had also taken the time to identify and create quotes for a few things that might need work in the near future. And I definitely will be going to Midtown for said repairs. Could not recommend more highly.

This place loves to scam people ! Kept our vehicle for 3 days for routine maintenance. Also didn't change anything they were suppose to as everything was marked , their mechanic spent more time going through my husband's tools . Also have called about concerns and talk to an associate and they never called back. Ridiculous as we are a struggling family with 3 children and now have to come up with the money so my husband can fix everything that they messed up on our van ! ITS REALLY MESSED UP WHEN YOU TAKE YOUR VEHICLE TO GET SERVICED AND THEY MAKE IT RUN WORSE THAN WHEN YOU TOOK IT IN!

Scotty and Ryan and the crew here are the best! They take the time to help me understand what’s going on and I trust them with grandparent’s classic car - they’re one of the few shops that will still work on it. Thanks guys!

Always a great experience. I've been taking my vehicle to Midtown Automotive for years now. They've worked on my car several times and are always courteous and very helpful. Have had my tires rotated, aligned, my battery charged, and endless more appointments. Never too expensive and always done in good time. Love having a true neighborhood mechanic. The guys are great!

Friendly, capable and reliable service. 10/10 would recommend to anyone with unforseen car issues. Thank you for being awesome 🙌

Easily the best experience I’ve ever had at an auto mechanic shop. Got an oddly shaped metal shard in my tire on a very snowy day. Fortunately I was close to Midtown and they patched it up within 30-40 minutes. The owner was incredibly friendly and helpful. He told me it’s been a family business for now 3 generations which just adds to how special this place is. I’d highly recommend them!

This was the WORST experience with a mechanic! The owner is unorganized, unprofessional and rude. Day of, appointment was Cancelled after waiting a week to get in! It took 3 days to get me a quote. Then the quote was $7000! On a no more than 1200$ fix. Later they called back with a reasonable price but then cancelled my appointment! After waiting a week to get in and while my car is being towed to their shop they decided to cancel the appointment?!?! I could have gone anywhere else and gotten my car fixed a week ago! The owner is unorganized, unprofessional and rude.

Support local business! Amazing service. Everyone here is very friendly and accommodating. Not only was I serviced in a timely and effective manner, but the hospitality was great. Just came for a tire repair, but will be brining my future car repair business here because of the service I received. Should be 6/5 stars.

The ONLY auto shop I will bring my work vehicle. Thankful my company’s fleet contracts with Midtown Automotive. I’ve exclusively brought my 24’ Toyota RAV4 to Midtown for all my repairs because… Tara (on the front lines) provides exceptional customer service. She has always been remarkably charismatic, professional and friendly. As for the mechanics, I’ve never walked away without my repairs or concerns 100% addressed. Without fail, they complete their work efficiently and well before I expect it to be done!! #MarriedToMidtown

Do not take your vehicle here. You will see a mix of positive and negative reviews, but notice that recent reviews are negative. I believe this shop has gotten worse and cannot currently recommend it. I brought my vehicle here twice, in 2023 and 2024. Both times it came back with an issue it did not have before. The first time it was minor, but the second time I had to take it to a different mechanic to fix. Staff may be able to do certain things well, but are otherwise unprofessional and sloppy. Additionally, the shop is not run well. Poor communication, a week or more turnaround time even with an appointment, no detailed quote provided, and no indication of how necessary repairs were. I was left with the impression that they no longer care about ordinary customers or running a quality business. Your money is better spent elsewhere.

I will never go anywhere else. These guys are real ones. Came in with a work recommendation from another shop, and Mario told me straight up that some of the work wasn’t necessary. Saved me about $300. They will work with you and your budget and be honest with you the whole way. You can’t find shops like this anymore.

OMG these guys were so nice today & fixed my flat for free. All they asked was I use them if I ever had more serious issues so wanted to make sure everybody knows there are still great local businesses out here doing the neighborly thing! Go see them if you’re in the Cap Hill/Congress Park areas.

I used to have a very good relationship with these guys but my last visit left me very sour. I came with the concern that my parking break light was on when it shouldn't be and gave them some theory's on why that might be (I thought maybe my parking break was stuck). After leaving my truck here for 2 days the communication was very poor and disorganized. They used to have a woman who would work the counter who was very nice and communicative but it seems she has since left which I theorize is why the communication was so poor this time around. They eventually got back to me and quoted me 1400$ to replace my parking break linkage and actuator. I declined the repair with the suspicions that they did not actually do any diagnostics which I gleamed from the very poor communication I mentioned earlier. Turns out my break fluid reservoir was nearly empty. Not only does this take 30 seconds to check (which they did not do apparently) it is also an indication of a much more serious issue with my break system. I topped this fluid off to prevent the issue from getting worse and trapping air in the system and my parking break light immediately turned off Indicating no actual problems with the parking break like they claimed there was. I'll be taking this to a different shop to get diagnosed further but I cannot stress how disappointed I am with this shop after the many other times I've used them to much success. They have lost me as a customer and I will no longer be recommending them to anyone.

Beware, this place is a scam. They told me that my starter and battery had to be replaced for $950 AND I had to pay $100 for a diagnostic. So I brought my car elsewhere, got a FREE diagnostic, and it was only the battery that needed to be replaced for $200. My starter was perfectly fine. This is the worst type of mechanic shop. Go anywhere but here, they will rob you for as much as they possibly can if you let them.

Mario was such an amazing mechanic, very thorough and also personable. It’s really important to me as someone new in the area to find a trusted mechanic that is going to be straightforward about what’s necessary now versus what to look out for in the coming months that might need work soon. Even Flor managing the front desk and admin was super personable and made me feel at ease when I had any questions or looking for an update. Thank you guys for helping me out when my car broke down and you knew I was paying for a rental car out of pocket and needed a timely fix. You guys are the best!
