Called them about a possible alignment issue and made an appointment for a week later when they could get me in. I dropped my truck off around 9am and left. By about 3pm, I hadn't heard anything. I called about 30 minutes later and found out they hadn't touched the truck yet. I wasn't confident that they could finish the job by closing time, so I just picked my truck up. No apologies for not getting around to it. What good is making an appointment if they're not going to stick to it? At least a phone call letting me know it would be delayed would have been nice.

I own a fairly unusual Toyota Land Cruiser from 1982, I took it to these guys to give it a major modification to pass emissions in Boulder County, they did the conversion, but didnt do a great job- though it was a difficult job, practically a rebuild. In earlier repairs, it had taken up to 3 times for them to get their repair right. On this repair, the first time my battery died and they hooked up the alternator wrong, and told me the incorrect information when I asked them about it, and this was after they'd been working on it for 4 weeks, after that amount of time, it should be running well, instead of dying and requiring me to leave it there for another week for them to fix it, and even after that they didn't hook up a hose well and another hose was spraying power steering fluid all over my engine because they neglected to make sure it was tight after installing a new power steering pump, and this repair to get it to pass emissions also cost over $5000... Overall, they got it mostly done, but I would not recommend them, they don't check their work carefully, are a bit overpriced, and don't seem to be able to fix things correctly the first time. I hope this review is helpful, maybe you'll have a better experience than me, but most likely not.

Recently moved to town and have been searching for a quality mechanic that will do honest work, and that's exactly what I found. Clearly an experienced crew, they listened to my issue and were able to get me scheduled quickly. I thought the issue would take some frame work to get resolved, but after they examined the problem in more detail, they were able to get it fixed right away. I will be taking my Jeep back to these guys for everything else I need work on.

What an awesome experience! Completely honest and straightforward. I had other shops around town, some of the major corporate shops, they tried to charge me ridiculous charges. I really appreciate Jeff being honest and real with me. I will make it a point to tell everyone I know to take their vehicles to Jeff for everything. Thank you Jeff.

Really impressed with the service. Extremely grateful I found this shop. I just moved in the area from Michigan and had a few problems with my Ford Escape on the drive. These guys were super helpful, fast, and best of all, well-priced. The next issue I have, these guys will be the first I call!

They are quick, and they eventually did a nice job. I went in to change the springs on my Jeep from a 4inch to a 2.5 inch, also to replace my shocks. They were done the same day and I picked up the Jeep. I heard from rattling noise coming from under the Jeep when going over bumps. I took it back and they said it was just the springs needing to adjust. I asked if I could take this off roading and everything would be okay, they said yes and that nothing would be damaged. Come to find that my muffler and Drive Shaft were hitting each other. This is something they did not see and I wish they would have been more careful in noticing this, I would have had a hole in the muffler and really been stranded. I took it back to get it fixed and they still charged me full price to bolt the muffler that got loose after taking the Jeep on some trails. The Owner's response was: well you just paid for the spring and shock installation. I don't know who is right/wrong, but I wish there could have been a compromise, now I was out an extra $65.

Pretty good shop, they got me scheduled quickly, easy to work with, responsive, friendly, price in line with the rest of the industry (if not a tad high). Would rate 5 stars, but I believe the intake procedure needs work, communication between the desk and mechanic lead to missing something easy. Took my vehicle in for suspension work, replacing spring insulators, and citing a loud squeak. I asked to have the insulators changed and asked if they would grease the ball joints as I thought that was a possible source of the noise. The mechanic likely didn't drive the vehicle further than from where I parked it, into the bay (at least not far, it would squeak from rocking in the driver's seat...). They never heard the noise, but it was gone when I got the vehicle back. Happy day. When the creak came back 500 miles after the service, I called and the mechanic, who said he never greased the ball joints (front desk said they did). I greased the ball joint myself, borrowing a grease gun from a shop on the road and the noise went away. No big deal really.. but I don't think they test drove the vehicle or even attempted to diagnose the squeak, just swapped parts and sent me on my way.

Jeff and the team here are incredible! All through college I was driving a Jeep Liberty and consistently relied on them to take care of usual maintenance and big repairs. I never felt scammed or cheated and always got good advice from Jeff. Hands down the best mechanic I have ever gone to!

It was my first visit to Spruce St. My interactions on the phone with Jeff left a good impression, as did the cleanliness off the shop, and the politeness and professioanalism of Bob, .Jeff and the other younger mechanic. I received prompt service and good value. I'll use them again.

Always friendly and dependable service. I started going there 20 years ago when I moved to Boulder, and even though I've lived in Denver for the last 10 years I still go back to Spruce Street Auto for larger issues because I trust them and they do great work for a reasonable price. Definitely recommend.

Being on a tight budget, they got my rear alignment on my 2004 Jeep Wrangler done, but couldn’t complete the front due to some bad axle u-joints, and bad ball joints. They checked out the entire jeep for me while they were at it and told me what needed fixed, and had a complete print out ready for me when I picked up my vehicle. Very friendly and professional staff, and most importantly knowledgeable.

I've taken my vehicle to this shop twice. Once in February, and again in early March-April 2016. After both visits (February and March-April) something major broke on my first drive after parking it at my residence a few blocks away. The first visit cost me about $2,000 for an intake manifold and some other minor work. Within 5 miles of driving after leaving the shop my head gasket went out. I decided to take it back to the Spruce St Auto because I still had faith in their service. They diagnosed it and agreed to wait a few days while I negotiated with a warranty company about the repair. A week later, on March 9 I gave them the go ahead to repair the head gasket. The job was estimated to take a week, and cost about $4,000. Every week from March 9 until April 11 they told me it would take another few days. It took them over a month after I had given them permission to do the work for a job they said would take a week. I explained why this was unacceptable, and how their delay was preventing me from moving across the country. They still delayed another two times after that conversation. The shop offered no apology whatsoever for their extremely delayed work. No apology, not a discount, nothing. So I paid them the $4,000 and headed on my way. Within hours of leaving the shop this time ANOTHER component they had been working with failed almost leaving me stranded in the middle of Nebraska. Ended up costing me another $400 to fix that, and I was finally able to continue my journey. Very disappointed in the service here. I do not recommend this shop, especially for difficult and costly jobs.

I had some upper control arm and ball joints installed at Spruce Street auto. Directly after getting them installed, I took it to get an alignment and they told me the ball joints were installed incorrectly and that it “looked like whoever installed it did not even look at the instructions.” I brought my vehicle back to them to fix the issues and they did. There was cutting required and they sliced my brand new Icon coil overs while doing so and did not paint over any of the cuts and everything is rusting. I really wanted to use these guys as they were all super nice but I had my truck in there way too many times for simples mistakes.

Wrangler Body Repair- Honest, practical and friendly! This shop has won our family over. Needed some minor body work done, and this team was honest, prompt, practical, and super friendly. Really appreciated their help fixing our jeep back to its "brand new" condition. Thanks so much Spruce Street!

I've known Jeff for more than 50 years, he's a Boulder native from when Boulder was the 'real' Boulder. When my '84 F250, 'Hercules', needs work I take it to Jeff.:)

Great shop. Will continue to bring my car there - Have a land rover and its hard finding anyone to even work on it. Had a transmission issue, thought the car was done but we talked about it Jeff gave me a quote and it was within $14 of the quote. Car runs smooth. Communication 10/10 - worth it!

What a nice surprise to discover Spruce 4 x 4. Spruce is a dying breed of honest, reasonable, friendly, and truly local businesses. They rewired my trailer and got it back to me in two days. The technician proudly talked to me about how he did it and Jeff the owner was my point of contact from the beginning to the end. After this experience with them, I would trust them 100% to do the right thing!

Spruce Street Auto worked me in quickly for a tire mount, balance and front end alignment. They also quickly diagnosed and adjusted some very loud engine belts. Very happy with the work and the overall experience. Thanks!
