I've been taking my car here since May of 2017. This past summer they tried to upsell me an air filter by telling me that it was missing. I declined it because it was strange since they were the last ones to touch the air filter since they were the last ones to do the oil change. I stopped by Auto Zone and discovered that the air filter was indeed there, so either they didn't do their jobs properly or they were trying to make a few extra easy bucks off of me. Either way, terrible. We all make mistakes, so I then I brought my car in for another oil change. After that, my brakes started to makes noises. Strange again, makes me wonder what they did to get me back to spend money on brakes now. So I let them take care of the problem, but they did some other work instead because the car is STILL making the same noise plus another noise. I brought the car to them and the younger man refused to fully test ride the car and didn't want to hear the noise. Very unprofessional. I gave them a chance to fix their mistake and they didn't. They wanted to charge me an additional $300+ to fix what they should have fixed to start with. Best decision I made was to refuse giving my money away. Won't be bringing my car here ever again.

Great quick and friendly service. I got my inspection done here and it was quick and easy. Called for an appointment and then showed up early and they let me in early. It's not a big or fancy place but it doesn't need to be. The girl at the counter and the mechanic were both friendly. Great experience and will definitely use this place in the future.

Trust this place to tell me the truth about my vehicle. They are not cheap, but not too expensive, and they are reliable. They will tell you what they find and what you can wait to have done and what is more urgent. Only place I would trust to take my car. As a single woman I have been ripped off at other places. A friend of mine that used to work on cars recommended them.

I had a strange rattle noise coming from my car and asked the Star auto mechanic if he could test drive my car before I agree for repairs to ensure the previous mechanic who test drove my car had diagnosed the noise correctly. Star auto said it is a $45 charge for them to drive it down the street so that they can listen for the noise. I have been going here with various cars from my household for a while, and this is the first time I was asked to pay this fee when in the past in similar circumstances, this has never happened. I made sure to clarify if this was a new change, and the mechanic insisted it was not. This was strange to me, and I am not sure if this is common practice, but I am posting this here for other customers' awareness.

Finding a mechanic that you can trust to do the work right and charge you for the work completed and not extras... is not an easy task. But....THIS is the shop for you! I have been going to The Star Auto for about 5 years and have walked away with complete satisfaction that my car was taken care of without breaking my wallet. I have always been advised of the car's problems and costs before work began. And when big ticket items needed repair, Steve would come up with alternate ways to fixing the problem for less. I totally trust these guys with my car! Their Customer service is just as awesome. They have a complimentary Drop off/ Pick up service for times that I had to leave my car and were very flexible to accommodate my late work schedule. When you find a great Hairdresser- you never leave her. It's no different when you find a great Mechanic- You never leave him!

Was able to make an appointment to get my state inspection done. The staff member I interacted with was extremely nice and even suggested a tax office to go to (which saved me a ton of time today). These guys are great. Very reasonable. Can do more than standard oil changes and inspections. 06.08.20 update: I continue to have incredible success with these guys. Super honest and reasonable. They have done things like change out the harmonic balancer on my old Toyota Highlander and keep her running like new. Way more skilled than the average shop or quick lube.

Will explain and offer suggestions of what may be needed now and what can be delayed and for how long. Good work correctly accomplished, can't be rushed. I went there last year to get my car inspected for my annual tags. When I returned this year they had me in the system and after returning about an hour later ( the inspector was at lunch) I was in and out and pretty much 20 to 25 minutes. No bells and whistles but there is indoor and outdoor seating and of course where would we be without our cell phones to play with while we wait?! All I can say is that they're fast efficient and courteous. I have no experience with any other work other than inspections.

The best commercial mechanic shop I have found. We have been coming here for over 15 years. Very honest and fair. Unlike the franchise businesses, they will never upsell you with anything you do not need. When they suggest a service, it’s because it is needed. I have had second opinions before which always confirmed what they had already told me. I trust these mechanics completely, and will continue to use them for any auto repair, whether minor or major.
