Told me I needed a brand new part, one that, not only did I not need, would cost me over $1200. Trying to rip people off by placing a location in a college town is an impressively scummy ploy.

One of the most challenging things about moving to a new area can be something you think little about until your car needs help. Finding a honest mechanic shop isn't easy. I had my car lowered by another shop which left a lot to be desired. After getting quotes from Auto ER for $378 and advance automotive for $243 both for misleading repairs such as a cracked top mount for the suspension assembly, I found this great shop. They got me in early and by the afternoon got a call to come pick up my fixed car at no cost. A simple wheel tightening and a stabilizer bar link tightening was all it needed! Wow, what a honest place I highly recommend going to this shop for peace of mind knowing anything you are charged is legitimate and not a money making scheme. Thanks so much All-Star Automotive I was at my wits end and so frustrated you made my week!

I needed a serious transmission rebuild and they did a great job. I was told that it would take about a week, and they stayed late the night before to get it programmed and make the deadline. That was a huge help since it's my only car to get to and from work. I put 100 miles on the car the day I got it back from them and it worked perfectly. I do most of my own work, but a job like this was way out of my league, so I had to trust them. I wasn't disappointed.

I've been going here for the last few years and its always been a wonderful experience. Steve and George are always so friendly and knowledgeable and return my car quickly and efficiently. However, after my most recent visit, I learned that they got rid of their student discount and I was met with a higher labor fee charge than what I remember. Its unfortunate but I think I need to reconsider my go-to for the future.

My husband and I moved from the Midwest to Gainesville while I was in grad school, both with hand-me-down vehicles, and we were so lucky to have found Steve while we lived there. It always felt like I was taking my car to my dad - knowing he would give it to me straight, wouldn’t try to upsell me, and have it fixed and ready to go within the day. I went in because one of the terminal ends of my car was really oxidized and I couldn’t fix it myself. The person that helped me was really attentive and took care of the issue in less than 10 minutes. Service, efficiency and quality. 100% recommended!

Got a “tune up,” after which a series of things started to fail in my car. Causation? Correlation? Who knows, but it is striking. Some things, like a cap left untightened, were clearly their mistake. The engine oil nastily dirty and low just a few months after the change? That also raises a red flag. It’s strange because all the other reviews are so positive.

Steve turned off my check engine light, and since there was no real problem, he didn't charge me. He was also very quick, he got back to me about an hour after I dropped off the car. I'm very grateful and would recommend to anyone in Gainesville, especially people living near campus!

I do not usually write reviews, but my experience at All-Star Automotive was exceptional at the least. I brought my old 2001 Hyundai in for all of my motor mounts to be replaced and an inspection. Steve was kind and honest, which is rare in business in this day and age; especially with auto repair. Not only did Steve's prices beat quotes from local companies such as Auto ER and Tire's Plus, he offers a student discount, which really sweetens the deal. I don't like spending money to fix my car, same as everyone else, but I will spend it at Steve's location. He even gave me advice for my next car.

Had a great experience bringing my 2002 Miata here. I was in the area for a month for work and needed to take my car somewhere for a quick oil change and inspection since I had a long drive ahead of me. Not only was the service amazing (and very reasonably priced), Steve is amazing! We had a great time talking about different cars and Gainesville in general. While this isn’t a Miata-specific shop, I would highly recommend. These guys know what they’re doing. It also helps that one of the guys who works there has his own Mazdaspeed. If I was ever in Gainesville again, I would absolutely bring my car back here.

AC wasnt cooling after a hot drive so dropped by All-Star Automotive of Gainesville first thing. They recharged the freon and found a small leak, patched it without extras like a full system flush. Mechanic said humidity here clogs things faster, had me out by noon though the bill stung a bit.

Great auto repair shop—honest, skilled, and fairly priced. I highly recommend getting your automotive repair done here. They were very thorough, explaining what was needed immediately and what to plan for down the road. Unlike many other shops I've visited, I never felt talked down to or mansplained to as a female customer. The staff here is very respectful and will clearly answer all your questions in as much detail as you want.

Steve is a straight up guy, very honest! We sent my son's SUV in for a noise we thought was a CV joint, but turned out to be a serious engine issue. My son is a college student in Gainesville and does not have the funds for big repairs. Steve informed us of what was going on which was not worth fixing, did not charge us for his diagnosis and even offered free oil to help get the vehicle along, which lasted him a other couple of months. After that, we purchased an new vehicle for our son and Steve refered us to a great VW shop to handle that car's service needs. Can't say how much we appreciate Steve's time & honesty. Thank you!
