Never had a worse experience than what I had here today. First of all, they tried to fail my brakes during inspection for rust and lack of brake contact with an estimate for replacements for roughly $1800. I contacted a state trooper and then magically they were okay and passing. The cherry on top was on my way home I had to pull over because my car was smoking. I pop the hood and find that the oil cap was left off the car from the oil change they did and oil was sprayed everywhere in the engine bay. Will never be back here again.

My husband and I needed a new family car and we worked with Malik at the dealership. I only have positive things to say about our experience with BMW of Cville and Malik. He was super patient as we decided between the X7 and X5 (and then ultimately on the PHEV X5). I’m so glad we worked with him and our local dealership. I absolutely love my new X5!!

Five stars for outstanding level of expertise/knowhow and customer attention at BMW of Charlottesville. The service department at this dealer immediately fixed a recurring problem with the retractable hardtop, after another BMW dealer (DC Metro area) attempted on five different occasions and couldn't. I'm consistently impressed and will continue to bring my Z4 here.

Service writers are polite and nice, but quoted $2,000 then $1,900 to replace all the brakes when only one rear rotor had a sliver of rust. (see photo) pads were very think. We had all four brakes changes with BMW parts by an independent shop and saved over $750.00. If your car is under warranty great take it there, but if not save a fortune by shopping around. For the past 20 years we always had service done at BMW dealers and they were a little more than independent shops until now.

BMW of Charlottesville was able to get me in while I was on vacation! I needed a 1200 mile service on a brand new M2 competition I was road tripping up the Blue ridge parkway from the BMW Performance Center at the Spartanburg South Carolina Factory. The service was great with text updates and a friendly and awesome staff. Would live to work with them again if I have the chance.

Airbag recall a few years ago. Complimentary inspection. They quoted 5k worth of repairs and reported an oil leak. The car is kept in a garage, never leaked oil until they inspected it. Will never take my car there again.

This dealership and the service department are dishonest. Beware of "free oil changes" and their recommended service when doing vehicle and key checks, etc. Over the past 2 years they have recommended service intervals for fluids well ahead of schedule (6 months or more); brake service with 3mm of pad left; refused to turn off an oil change light and check engine light because they were told not to replace a cabin air filter; and the list goes on. The hourly service charges are higher than DC rates and the service is an order of magnitude below in quality. We will walk away from the "free oil changes" with pleasure.

I've had my X3 since 2024. When I go to BMW of Charlottesville for anything and Gary Spencer is there, he ALWAYS provides me with the best customer service. I recently purchased rain guards for my X3. Gary was so kind to put them on for me. It didn't take long, but he didn't have to do that. And it was hot outside! He was helpful and kind the whole time. If you need any assistance with your BMW and you visit BMW of Charlottesville, be sure to ask for Gary. Tell him Andrea sent you!

Went in for an oil change. Was sent two different videos one saying needed brakes and tires then an updated one saying everything was fine. Got a “complimentary” car wash and this was how my car looked after. Also was never given a price till service was done. $200 for an oil change is ridiculous

Not super impressed by this garage. I was invited to bring my car in for a few recalls, and I was offered a loaner car for the time my car was being worked on. So far, so good. A while after my appointment, though, I realized the garage had sent me a video of the mechanic explaining what he had done to my car. In said video, he noted that one of the bolts of the oil-filter housing was about to fall out. It would have taken him less than a minute to screw it back in and torque it to spec, but instead he just mentioned it in the video. Turning the bolt back in would have prevented further mixing of oil and coolant caused by a loose oil-filter housing. This would have been a nice thing to do and would not have cost the garage anything extra. If even this is too much trouble, it makes me wonder how passionate they really are about their product.

Sent my wife in for a recall and a state inspection. She came home with a $450 bill. Mechanic claimed car wouldn’t pass inspection without new wiper blades and a bulb in one light. Those plus the oil change he talked her into cost $450. Will NEVER use this dealership again, even for another free recall. Took advantage of her and charged outrageous prices. The oil change cost $185 alone! I partially blame myself for not telling her to deny any requests they made. I shouldn’t even have allowed them to do a simple state inspection. Please heed my warning, do NOT go there for any type of service! I would give zero stars, but it won’t let me submit this unless I give at least 1. Trust me, they don’t deserve it.

I had an appointment for oil change, inspection and alignment for 10am. I requested a loaner car so I could run a few errands while my service was done. Well BEWARE if you get a loaner car or are not physically waiting in waiting room, they move your appointment back. My car was not done until 3:30! I was so mad! I even called at 12, 1, 2 and they said they would move me up??? My goodness if I wanted an afternoon appointment I would of made an afternoon appointment. This wasted my entire day. I live an hour away and this is the closest dealership. I will never go back. The service manager Angela said Sorry. I might as well voiced my complaint to a wall.

So apparently I made this review for the wrong Flow dealership as someone from Flow BMW called me and in a not so nice way or without any concern for the service I received at the Toyota location requesting I move this review to the Toyota reviews stating that reviews are taken seriously but I guess not for the customers. First I feel like I was charged for rotors when I didn’t need them and second I was charged $167 to diagnosis a problem just to be told the first thing they do when a customer has this issue is replace some spring which tells me that they did not diagnose the problem and finally when I attempted to express my dissatisfaction with the service to the manager he was rude and unprofessional and even raised his voice at me! I will never bring my vehicle to this dealership again nor would I recommend it to anyone else!

I had an excellent experience with Gary Spencer, service advisor. He was extremely knowledgeable and professional throughout the entire interaction. His patience and willingness to go above and beyond were truly commendable. Gary’s expertise and dedication to customer service left a lasting impression, and I would highly recommend him to anyone in need of assistance.

Brought my car to BMW of Charlottesville for an oil change and was greeted with an amazing employee, he opened the door for my family, explained all that was under the coverage plan that is currently on the vehicle, and expressed he would make sure we were taken care of prior to leaving our scheduled service appointment. Thanks “Gary Spencer “ for being an amazing BMW employee and making our visit welcoming.

Tyler, my sales rep did an amazing job. I purchased a BMW X5. Majority of the purchase was made with a 12 hour time difference due to travel. The purchase was made primarily with pictures, video and communication. His accessible approach and willingness to respond to multiple questions provided a compassionate human touch responsiveness and stand-up character made the a difference that supported my comfort as a new purchase and now BMW owner. I highly recommend Tyler as a representative for this BMW dealership to be anyone. There’s no doubt that he brings something special to his job that by seeing beyond the sales commission and seeing the person. If you are looking to purchase a BMW at distance and onsite, check out Tyler. All sales persons are not made equal and when you find one who does a great job, no need of being selfish.

Greetings. My own experience was also not up to the expectations of service one gets from buying a one hundred thousand dollar car. I bought it online, in October 25. Dante was my salesman. It was impossible to reach him. Car arrived dirty, muddy outside. Delivery driver said they did not pay to cover it. Car tires did not had enough air. A service is needed sign was on. But real problem was they did not do the paperwork for my registration. Temporary registration tag expired. I could not drive my car. And I had to call multiple times to get help. Everyone kept on passing me to next person. Dante of course was missing. Manager number said answering machine is full. Ultimately, I had to send multiple emails. Two of people (Anton and Dimitri) did help me somewhat. I did not get my registration and tag 6 weeks later. On good side, price was okay. But service was poor. Please make your own decision.

Avoid BMW of Charlottesville at all costs. I had to tow my BMW X3 to this dealership after the battery died. While it was there, my husband explicitly asked the service advisor, Gary, to perform a full inspection, service, and take care of an open recall. He confirmed that these would be done. When I arrived to pick up the car, Gary assured me everything was “up to date.” But when pressed, he admitted that the inspection, recall, and oil change were not done at all—and claimed he “wasn’t aware of the request.” We requested him to send an estimate before doing any work, but instead he went ahead, replaced the battery, and only afterward mailed us a bill for $851. To make matters worse, the invoice contained a cryptic note about a “recommended service,” supposedly highlighted, but the section was incomplete and cut off mid-sentence. No one mentioned this at pickup. It went downhill from there. When I got home, I discovered the entire back seat was detached with wires exposed. See the attached picture. Gary initially denied they’d touched it—until finally admitting “that was on us,” dismissing it with “we’re all human.” No apology. Keep in mind, they charged $200 for diagnostics and over $600 for a new battery and labor. After they reinstalled the seat, I found new stains on the upholstery and a seatbelt safety label sticking out that had never been visible in eight years of ownership. Gary brushed this off with, “all seat belts have that sticking out.” They don’t. He offered to “tuck it back in and clean the seat,” but when I picked up the car again, there were now fresh black stains on the driver’s side door. When I pointed this out, Gary insisted every car on the lot had the same marks, claiming the ones on my car were caused by “oil from your hands.” We even went over to my passenger-side door (which was spotless) and he still insisted stains were there—as if I was blind. When I told him he was treating me like an idiot, he ended the conversation by saying “I can’t help you anymore” and stormed off. The stain is still there for me to clean. See the pic. This entire experience was a nightmare: careless work, no accountability, gaslighting, arrogance, and incompetence at every step. I had to make three separate trips for what should have been a simple battery replacement. The dealership charges luxury prices for third-rate service, and at no point did anyone take responsibility or offer a sincere apology. If this is how BMW of Charlottesville treats its customers, it raises serious questions about whether any of their services are performed correctly. I will never return and strongly advise others to avoid this dealership. Beware of Google reviews averaging at 4.4 when Yelp ratings for this dealership average at 2.4.

Won’t be returning and left feeling very untrusting of the service department. As a college student who doesn’t know cars very well I go to the service department because I don’t want to feel like I’m being taken advantage of or pushed around. After the past two times I’ve gone to this service department that is exactly how I feel. I first came to the service department in November of 2025 because my car had a recall, needed an oil change, coolant replacement and the brakes were screeching. I was told by Tristan that to run a diagnostic on the brakes it would cost $500. I ended up not doing that and just having the 12 point exam done where they determined I needed new breaks so I had them replaced. I had to go back again in February of 2026 because I was pretty sure my battery was dead/dying and my door was having electrical issues. When I got there I mentioned the issues that my car was having along with the fact that the brakes were still screeching. Gary was my service person this time and his response to the fact that my brakes were screeching was that BMW’s have loud brakes and that’s a common complaint. As someone who’s whole family has BMW’s and has had them consistently for the past 15 years this is something none of our other cars do. We’ve had extreme brake dust which is known about the cars and screeching when the brakes were put on incorrectly or didn’t have the proper amount of lubricant on them. So I found this comment to be extremely dismissive. I was then told that to run the diagnostics it would cost $200. I came from Southern California and when I get my car serviced out there this price usually gets taken off if you get the service completed with the service department. I was incorrect in assuming that would happen here as I ended up paying an additional $600 to get the battery changed. I was not made aware of this price before the battery was replaced. The “quote” that I received was sent to me and just said service recommendation “Thank you” $0 and I received this at the same time I was texted that the car was done and ready to be picked up. Had I known what it was going to cost to change the battery I would have taken it somewhere else. This whole situation has left me feeling like this service department is shady or trying to cut corners. After reading the service department reviews they have a 3.3 and this seems to be a problem that they have been having for years. Some of the reviews have mentioned things like oil changes not actually getting done and now I’m concerned that my free oil change I was supposed to have get done in November wasn’t actually completed. Especially due to the fact that sometimes when I first turn on my car and drive it it won’t go above 10 miles per hour. Making me think of the oil isn’t the correct one for cold weather like it’s supposed to be this could be why. Due to the lack of trust I have in this department it also makes me nervous that the recall wasn’t done. Unfortunately I’ll just have to hope it was done at this point because there are no other service departments close by that I can go to to check. I will be taking my car to a mechanic that is closer to me (not an hour away) to check and see if my brakes were done and put on correctly as well. Very disappointed in this service department and wouldn’t recommend taking my car here. There’s no benefit.
