Summer heat is brutal here in AZ and air conditioning is a necessity. Gene got me in quickly for the a/c repair and also for an oil change. He is very knowledgeable and takes the time to answer any questions you might have about your vehicle. There is no up selling at all, unlike dealership repair shops. I inquired about getting my engine air filter and cabin filter replaced and he said they were still in good condition. A dealership would never pass up an opportunity to sell you those, even if you didn't need them. I am very pleased with the service I received at Gene's!

I had my own parts and Gene’s agreed to install my F150’s wheel bearing hubs. I dropped off my truck on day one and they completed installation by noon the next day. I was glad they installed them instead of me doing it in the hot sun. Well done!

Gene and his staff are exceptionally professional. I came to them with some car troubles and due to the extent of the diagnosis, was simply charged for the diagnosis fee. They are fair and accommodating. I would recommend anyone to their shop.

After taking my car here for over a year. Gene is not the owner. Im only talking about my experiences. I don’t bring down companies. Sadly, my personal experience with taking my car there was not great with the new owners. $2,305.89 worth of work after going there twice in one week and I still need a whole brand new AC kit after their work and front struts and sway bars links and replace Engine motor mount to stop the rattling. I personally changed my struts and sway bars links with my brother, you can watch a YouTube video and you can do it. I only found out what was truly wrong with my car from the Toyota dealership and Eminent Total Car Care. I only needed a brand new AC kit, front struts and sway bar links and replace engine mounts. I’m leaving this for people like me that read reviews before they pick shops and needs to have their car diagnosed correctly. This shop tried to do a bandaid fix on my car and don’t fully diagnose it correctly. I would’ve had to keep coming back and spending more money over and over so to save you from what I went through I recommend you to take your car to get a diagnosis from the company (Eminent Total Car Care) in Tempe

Genes is great! I have used them for a number of repairs large and small on different vehicles of mine. Always honest, reliable and very knowledgeable. Most recently I anticipated spending significantly more then I did on two separate repairs. Genes quote was a relief, we agreed to do the work. When my truck was ready the total cost came back a couple hundred dollars short of the quote we agreed on! Thanks for good work gene. I took my car to them for the leak and was told to replace the condenser and they charged me around $575. Next day I noticed the same leak and called them back. David, I think he is also the owner said oh it's a probably old oil so give few days. after few weeks I had to take it back and he told me the condenser was from the bad company so this time we are going to order from different place. Guess what? leak is still there. I had to take car back for the 3rd time and this time they told me oh it's actually timing belt cover not a condenser but didn't not pay me back for the condenser. They gave me estimate for the timing belt cover $3500. I took my car to another mechanic, and he fixed it for $150. They always guess what it could be and overestimate.

I appreciate the honesty of Gene’s Autoworx. Their prices seem to be about average but the way they have treated us is what keeps us coming back. Just one example, I took my truck in to have the brakes replaced. They called me and said that the brakes looked fine. They were not going to charge me for something that I did not need. I ended up still wanting the rotors replaced so I went ahead and got a brake job done and left feeling good about the whole thing. I would recommend them to anyone looking for a mechanic.

Faster and less expensive than other shops. I’ve been taking my cars there for 18 years. Sometimes I try somewhere else because they don’t usually answer the phone and can take more than a day to return a call: it’s because they are always busy because they offer offer better service at a better price than anywhere else, once you do get in. Gene’s just replaced my catalytic converter for 1/3 the quote of another shop, and within a day. They are the best.

Exceptionally good work!!! I am very happy and satisfied with their work. I went to them a month back as the engine mounts on my Hyundai Elantra had collapsed. They quoted me a price that was not too bad especially in comparison to other auto body shops in the area. The most important thing however was that they first inspected each engine mount individually and determined that only one of the three mounts in my car needed replacing. I was actually very impressed with their honesty since they could have easily convinced me that all three needed to be replaced and I would have had no option but to comply. I think this level of honesty and sincerity with respect to both their quality of work and repair costs is what sets Genes Auto Worx apart from other auto repair shops in Tempe. Its been a month since I got my car back and it has been running smoothly without any weird noises/vibrations that were present earlier due to the collapsed mounts. My only regret is that I did not discover Genes Auto Worx any sooner than I did!!!

I took my car in to Genes for a 20k mileage check. They took rotated the tires, checked all the fluids, brakes etc. They returned my very clean car right on time and for a be reasonable price! I will definitely go back there again. I highly recommend Gene’s!

In the beginning in 2008 my wife needed a reliable automobile mechanic shop to maintain her vehicle and by word of mouth found this business. Gene took very good care of us until his retirement (2 years ago now??). Now it's late 2025 and it's time to go somewhere else. This is just my opinion based on what happened to us first back in the fall of 2024 where we requested some troubleshooting with a long-term engine coolant leak (performed a pressure test). Mechanic didn't see any evidence of any leak. Fast forward to this year where we only needed an oil change. Lucky for me I had a brief opportunity to speak with the mechanic and he said, "were you aware that you had an engine coolant leak?" (that mechanic doesn't work there anymore - not sure why). Long story short - turned out to be a component (Engine Coolant Control Value) of the Powertrain which lucky for me was still under warranty (ends April 2026). Had this leak been identified last year I would have at least 18 months of warranty on the replacement part. Gene has many good reviews and I'm glad for the new owner however for me failure was not an option for something so easy. Advise to the "front desk", don't tell the customer that you'll put together an estimate and observations of the area of the leak and not follow through. Also, maybe the new owner should change the name of the business to protect the innocent. For a while were treated very well however now is the time to simply say "YOU'RE FIRED"....
