I had an awesome experience here. The employees are laid back in a friendly and helpful way. I couldn’t figure out what was wrong with my beetle, so I took it to them. They went through the same process of elimination as I, for a fair price, and when they had gotten it definitively diagnosed, they sent me a copy of the diagnosis and a quote to get it repaired. I had had the car towed to them, and the entire diagnosis all the way to the finished product and payment was done online and over the phone. I never even saw the shop until I came to pick up my car, which was perfect. I had called them multiple times a day while this was all happening and they took it in stride with patience. I really felt that they just wanted to help me out and do a great job. I really enjoyed the experience I had with them and highly recommend them. Since then, I’ve had to go back to get my skid plate refastened and that’s it. They did that for free, it was such a small thing. So long as I have this car, I won’t go anywhere else to have the major repairs done. They’ve earned my trust. ADD-ON*** 9/14/18 - A few weeks ago my check engine light came on. I went to NAPA on Tukwila International Boulevard and they scanned it, saying it was my O2 sensor. The O2 sensors are not something I’m comfortable doing on my car because it has to be lifted (phobia), so I took it to Hans. They diagnosed it as the mass airflow sensor (which is much easier to reach and is a $25 part vs. over $100+ for an O2 sensor). I didn’t realize it was cheaper and so much easier (I could’ve done it myself), so they did it. They did a really good job and I’m happy with the service, but I spent $266 on something I could’ve spent $25 on. Don’t go to NAPA for a scan is what I’m saying.

I had a good experience with this place. Needed service done on my VW, they accurately diagnosed my problem quickly, and got it taken care of quick. They also helped with getting the bill taken care of with the towing company that damaged my car. They also washed/vacuumed once it was ready to go, which was a nice touch. Highly recommended you take a look at this place if you need your VW/Audi/Porsche serviced.

They were able to quickly and affordably service my Q5, and I was able to book a same-day appt. They also provided additional services without labor charge, and were able to order and install same day an Audi trim part that was damaged. Mechanical and body/trim work, that's full service! Honest and reliable. Definitely recommend.

Hans and Joe and the technicians are extremely knowledgeable and professional. They were very helpful to address an issue previously diagnosed at a dealer. Their prices are fair and their work high quality. They were fast to get me in and complete the work. I will definitely go back.

Never bringing my car back here again. They charged me almost $700 to replace parts that didn’t even fix the issue. They refused to work with me and just said to bring it back in, no way am I ever giving you more of my money. They also never provided me an estimate which is a requirement under WA state law.

I called Hans for a second opinion and ended up going with this shop. The first auto repair shop I took my car to quoted me an absurd amount for a repair I wasn't sure I needed. Hans was super straight forward and very honest. They were great about updating me about the conditions of my car and the cost of everything. As long as I have my VW, I'm going to be going to Hans Auto Car Repair. Don't hesitate to bring your car to this shop, they really know what they're doing. Thanks again!

Unfortunately I can't leave zero stars. Took my car in to have the air conditioner fixed. Hans replaced the compressor with a cheap, Chinese made unit that made a loud, whining sound and cooled intermittently. When I took it back, they told me the noise was from the alternator, which they replaced. The noise and was still present after this and I declined to take it back to Hans again. Two other shops were able to easily diagnose a bad compressor and I had it fixed elsewhere. Hans declined to refund any money but I did get my credit card company refund half of my payment and I filed a small claims action against them for the rest. I would avoid taking my car here for any service, there are many more honest shops in Seattle.

These guys are great. While they are less expensive than the dealer, they are still pricey. For instance, they do not do free inspections or subtract the cost of the inspection if you choose to work with them. However, I left feeling exceptionally confident the issue was fixed and that they are knowledgeable. Multiple people who work there used to work at local VW dealerships. Which gives me even more confidence in their work. If you have a CW or Audi, they are a go to for sure

The first time I took our Jetta here for repair, I had such a positive experience we immediately broke up with our previous mechanic - "It's not us, it's you." Since then, we've been in a committed mechanical relationship with Hans Auto repair. Hans and Joe genuinely value their relationships with their customers. Friendly. Honest. Great at explaining stuff. Very fairly priced. Highly recommend!!

You ever go to a new auto repair shop worried they might take advantage of you. I think it’s normal. In this case my concern was all wrong. I went in for brakes oil and a few other things. A little squeaky sound from break made me think it was time. So I called later after dropping off car to learn I didn’t need new brakes and rotors. I was very thankful for the honesty. On top of that Han auto repair is fixing my driver side mirror at a fraction of the cost of dealership. Thanks again Hans and team. I’m happy to be a new loyal customer.

I called this shop with a need for a fuel pump replacement and described the issue that the car was experiencing. When I picked up the vehicle I asked if the technicians ran the necessary tests to confirm that the car was holding pressure. They said no, but bring the car back if it still has issues. I brought it back after experiencing the problem again later that day and they said they couldn't find anything wrong with the vehicle. Turns out they replaced the wrong part and are refusing to own up to this. The fact the shop didn't look into the problem, verify it was fixed, and won't do their job to replace the correct part. And I have to repay this to be fixed (An extra $700+) for their mistake is awful. I do not recommend this shop and highly recommend you take your car elsewhere.

Dream automotive repair shop for those that value knowledgeable, experienced, and fairly priced repairs. Nice to see a family business in its sixth decade, and to meet Hans Sr. and Hans Jr. in my recent visit. This was our introductory trip and they provided a routine oil and filter service for our 2007 Passat. They were very accommodating as I asked for a last minute appointment. Clean, organized, and professional shop with great staff. We will be back and with Hans Auto Car Repair's help, hope to keep our Passat running for an additional 150K!

Got my car in, checked out, and radiator replaced all within two days at a fair price. They even replaced my burned out tail light which was such a nice surprise. Honest and communicative from start to finish. Great little shop and I would not hesitate to bring my VW here again in the future.

You know how sometimes it feels like a tsunami of bad luck happens and things feel overwhelming? I hope your answer is "no" and life is treating you just right. BUT that has NOT been my story recently. One thing after another, then the engine lights started blinking and my not so old car made ALL the funny noises. Hans and company got my Tiguan in quickly and I heard from them by the afternoon....but with the worst news EVER....the engine had died. My car would drive no more. I had to ask if I could call back, because I couldn't hold back the sobs at this point. Poor souls on the other end of the line. Thing is, I could have been treated as just another customer, but the crew were so compassionate and so kind. I do wish this had a happier ending and I got to drive away, but I could tell they wished that for me, too. I want to pay that kindness forward. Please take your car here. They are good humans, doing good things to get us back on the road.

What a wonderful experience!!! I have never had such a lovely experience getting my car serviced! Up front pricing, easy scheduling and no surprises! Joe provided great communication the whole way and was so nice to work with! They even have a guy who details cars for an extra but very reasonable fee! My car looks beautiful and feels like a new car! Thank you so much!! I will be back for the life of my car and will refer friends!

First of all if you have a volkswagen, ditch the dealership and come here. after taking my car to the dealership for an oil change, my car came back with a dented license plate and a piece coming off the back of my car. Not only are these guys cheaper than a dealership they are 100% more trustworthy which is so hard to find. The are kind and wont try and sell you on something your car doesn’t need which is huge. Couldn’t recommend a car service shop enough!

DO NOT GO HERE! I brought my passat in for a coolant flush and to replace my heater core as it was recommended to do both at the same time. During the process my heating went out in my car. I never had an issue with heating and the heater core was part of preventative maintenance. The shop refused to take any responsibility of this happening and said they would charge me to diagnose even though it worked fine before i brought my car here. I had thought this was a respected and trusted auto shop, but I am incredibly disappointed seeing how this was handled. I wish I saw the other reviews as it looks like this was once an honest place to bring your car but it appears they have lost their way and their integrity. I am surprised they are still in business with how disrespectful their team and owner was with me. I will now need to take my car to another mechanic to fix what was broken at Hans Auto Repair. Update - I took my car to Auburn VW and the Heating core Hans replaced was faulty. Hans accepts no responsibility of this but that is to be expected with how they treated me in the first place.

DISHONEST⚠️⚠️⚠️ If you think it’s a good time to be part of Mechanic BINGO come here. Took car in because brakes were sticking as I was driving it. It took them 3 weeks to navigate that there was a problem, fixing random parts. By the time they finally listened to me and realized the brakes were sticking while I was driving it…. brake pads were worn off. Hans replaced the master cylinder, brake booster, brake peddle. NONE of which were the problem. Kept it for TWO WEEKS. Returned it with the brakes still sticking. The first time I took the car here they did some work and gave it back with an o2 sensor light on. This last time charged me a couple thousand dollars and returned it with the EPC and o2 sensor light on and still having the original problem. Gave it back with additional 250 miles on the car and dirty interior. I feel like my car and myself were takin for a joy ride at my expense. If you know ANYTHING about cars you know not to drive with EPC light on. Super disappointed. May be good for an oil change but SAVE YOURSELF and go to a VW dealer if you have serious concerns or problems. This is NOT a Reputable Mechanic. 😢
