Last week I had my first experience with Otto Motive. I had concerns about the brakes, foggy headlight lenses and the hydraulic lifters for the rear hatch on my Highlander. Michael, Jason and the mechanics were very professional, friendly and even went the extra mile to contact a headlight lens restorer and scheduled for the work to be done at the shop prior to the brakes being diagnosed. They could have told me I needed all four brakes replaced but after inspection, they recommended just the rear brakes - saving me a couple hundred dollars. But they weren’t done. While test driving for the brakes, the mechanic noticed a slight alignment problem. Jason, the owner, put the Highlander on the lift, noticed a slight toe-in problem - and made the adjustment. Problem fixed!! Sadie, the shop customer relations expert, is a beautiful fox red, yellow lab with a wonderful personality and disposition. Dog lovers should visit Otto Motive just to meet Sadie! I highly recommend Otto Motive. If you’re not totally satisfied, no problem. Just go back to your previous shop or dealer. I support the good, honest, hard working small businessman.

The crew here at Otto Motive have treated us with such great professionalism and honesty that it will be VERY difficult to go to any other mechanics than them. These are truly amazing guys here who know what they are doing and provide a comforting feeling knowing that you will get A+ service whatever the issue may be. Will be a long-time customer for years to come. Plus it’s a nice environment with Sadie manning the lobby. 5/5 amazing dog.

I have lived in Jacksonville for well over 15 years and it took me 14 years to find Otto Motive (Car Mechanic). Hands down, Otto Motive is absolutely the best auto repair shop I've ever been to. It's rare you find a clean, honest auto repair shop that goes out of their way to assist their customers. Every time either I or my staff have been to Otto Motive, the reactions are same. The staff their truly goes out of their way to work with you! The prices are fair and service is reliable, not to mention, they stand behind their work! I recommend bringing your vehicle here even if you have to drive a little further. I live in San Marco and no matter where I live in Northeast Florida, Otto Motive will be the only place I take my cars to! Trust me, you'll thank me for recommending them to you!

My daughter is a college student in Jacksonville and was having an issue with her muffler/exhaust pipe and it needed to be welded. Otto Motive got her in right away, welded it for a VERY fair price, and even checked her oil while she was there. She said she felt like they cared about her as a customer and a person. As a parent 5 hours away I take comfort in finding a good mechanic for my daughter's car. Since she plans on staying in the area after college, they have a new customer for life! Thank you!

If you want honesty, integrity and transparency when it comes to having your vehicle repaired and/or maintenanced, then Otto Motive and their highly trained, professional and honest mechanics is the place to take your vehicle. The dealership that sells and serviced my make and model, inspected my vehicle and quoted me over $2,000 in “ routine “ wear and tear maintenance, parts and labor. The A.S.E. Certified Car Surgeon at Otto Motive brought me out to my car and said “ Your car is perfectly fine, you may need new brakes an oil change or two from now but these control arms are perfectly fine right now and your car is in good condition, it’s clear you take care of it. “ which I do and I pride myself on. The mechanic stated that yes there is slight visible wear on one of the control arms but it doesn’t quote unquote need to be replaced and he said when it does, I’ll know it because there will be signs and he described the signs. In a world full of delusion, distrust, dishonesty and incompetence, this shop brings genuine authenticity, honest and integrity back to the world. I highly recommend this shop, I will be referring my family and friends here, people deserve to be told the truth and not fear mongered or mislead into paying ridiculous amounts of money for things that just don’t need to be done with any urgency. Especially with how expensive everything can be, we are all just wanting to live peacefully and prosperous lives, and have the peace of mind knowing our house and our transportation are solid and safe. Thank you Otto Motive for your transparency and your integrity, and I really enjoyed spending time with your front desk secretary Saddie, she is a very sweet, kind lady. I wish you all at Otto Motive a blessed 2025 and your families, a wonderful prosperous year and countless more to come. I will be seeing you again in the near future for all my maintenance and vehicle repair needs.

They also take the time to explain everything in great detail that needs to be done and don't push for any service that's not necessary. Thank you to the team at Otto Motive for a great experience. Having a student away from home with a vehicle is ok until service is needed for the vehicle. Searching for a good company far away was a challenge. However, the UNF Parents Facebook group had many parents crediting a local company, Otto Motive, for their reasonable prices, great repair work, good customer service but most of all their catering to college students in the area. Unfortunately, our vehicle needed repairs for two different issues within a few weeks of each other, and they provided what we needed without delay. From answering all my questions long distance to keeping me updated as the repairs were completed. My son’s in person interactions with the staff was positive and we are happy we have found a reliable repair shop in the area. Also, thank you for having a 24-hour drop box. This was a lifesaver for us both times we had to have the vehicle towed. Thanks Bodo and Michael for your patience during our phone calls. Neither of them rushed the conversation or seemed frustrated with all my questions. As a parent, it’s comforting to know that there are still good, solid and honest mechanics around. Would not recommend going here. Brought my mercedes in to get an alignment, after hours of sitting there waiting, was told they could not do the alignment and whatever they did caused my suspension light to come on (the light was not on when I brought my car in nor did my car have suspension issues), took it to mercedes yesterday and was told the air lines were broken and needed to be replaced. I am sure whatever they did when they tried doing the alignment caused this issue. I called them back to let them know and was told "they can't take responsiblity for this" They continuously kept asking me if the car had been in an accident after I answered the questions multiple times letting them know it has never been in an accident, pretty sure they were just looking for reasons to "explain" the damage they know they caused. Simple tire change and rotation has now resulted in nearly a thousand dollars in damages.

This is a great mechanic! We've met and talked to most of the workers there, and they are all very kind, professional, and trustworthy. They've always been transparent and did fair, honest work for us. We've recently had to take in multiple vehicles for them to inspect, and they were always so kind to fit us in and make sure we weren't buying a lemon. They've literally saved us many thousands and thousands of dollars because of that. We're very grateful for them, and we'll be continuing to go to them for years.

I would 100% stay away from this place. We took our Mercedes to get alignment. After wasting two hours they causes the suspension light to come on and said they can’t to the alignment. They agreed that we brought the car in without any suspension faults. Took the car to Mercedes dealership who stated alignment has no bearing on suspension faults and found that the line was broken and this is what caused the suspension light to come on. Nearly a thousand $ worth of repair and they are not taking any responsibility. Stay away!

Came highly recommended by a trustworthy friend, so my disappointment is amplified. Have an old Chevy that I am restoring, and the engine was knocking. They fixed it, so that's good. But they let me know the engine needed work, and I knew that. Instead of offering to do everything while the engine was torn apart, they just fixed the knocking and put it back together. I asked for an estimate and what all was wrong with the truck and got nothing. They mentioned they would give me an estimate on spark plugs and wires to start there, but after asking for that three times, I gave up. I need a reliable, trustworthy shop and they missed the reliable part for sure.
