I came here several days ago to have some services done (the cost was supposed to be aroundt 150 dollars). Instead they gave me a bill for nearly 900 dollars, including things like insurance ( I never requested). I have copies of both price lists, and I will be filing a complaint with the BBB and may continue this matter in small claims court. This was an obvious act of upselling and, in my view, that constitutes as an unfair or deceptive business practice under California Business & Professions Code §17200

First the positive...friendly knowledgeable people at front auto service desk. They were patient with me. The techs caught my brake rotors that had worn out, after I had purchased 4 tires. That for me was good. They got right on it. Installing new battery and tires, and new brake rotors. The service auto office opens at 8 am. Just go there when you arrive. There is a nearby Carl Jrs and other fast food places to grab a coffee or bite to eat, while waiting . Now the negative..the waiting area needs an update on their worn out chairs. The waiting room looks really beat up. There is no coffee machine to buy coffee or snacks while waiting. Other auto service companies waiting rooms have pay for coffee vending machines or complimentary coffee. I added some photos to show the condition of the auto service waiting room.

I dropped my car off to get some warranty work done, which ended up being only one part. I dropped it off on the 29th of October. It is now 3 weeks later and my car is still at the location not fixed yet. I can’t afford any more rental car and public transit is disgusting. I just want my damn car back.

Absolutely Unprofessional – Complete Waste of Time I really hate leaving negative reviews, but this experience was beyond frustrating. From the moment I scheduled the appointment, the entire process was disorganized and unprofessional. When I arrived, none of the staff acknowledged me, and some were downright rude. I watched the technician walk around my car and go back and forth for over 30 minutes without explaining anything. At that point, I decided to leave without even getting my tire patched. It just didn’t feel right — the technician didn’t seem like he had any business working on cars, and the whole vibe was careless and chaotic. I did speak with the assistant manager, but honestly, based on the other reviews, this level of service seems to be the norm at this location. I won’t be coming back to any of their shops again. Total waste of time

Do not come here. The only thing they value is to upsale you and over charge. I'm sure the way they think is why repair when we can replace. They are not interested in saving you money. Update: bought my own part and had another shop install it. Saved myself $1000 by taking my business elsewhere. I expected professionalism and instead I got greed. I'm going to school full time for auto collision repair and work part time in auto fabrication. The way you do things is a joke and you should be ashamed taking advantage of people especially when times are hard

Really disappointed. Made an appointment. It took 3-1/2 hours for an oil change. Price was OK, not great. 2days later, I get a warning message to check my oil level. An oil change with new filter takes 6.9 quarts. They charged me for 7. Turns out my oil was 1 quart low. Looking at my bill more closely to see what they charged me for, I see they charged me $9.99 to re-set the oil level monitor! While I was at it, I checked my tire pressures. All 4 needed air, one needed 15 lbs. So now I wonder. Did I get a new oil filter? Did they perform the “free” 20 point inspection? Looks like maybe not. Come on Pep Boys. You can be better, but I won’t be back.

All right guys watch out first time bringi A6 2024 for an oil change regular oil change and for some reason they forgot to put in five screws where the shield under the engine goes As soon as I left, there was a dumping sound, and then drastically went to a dragging sound and sure enough see for yourself

Do NOT get an oil change here, they now made it a separate $10 fee on top of the price for the oil change just for them to reset the oil change light. If you don't pay the extra $10 your car just won't know that it got an oil change. Never EVER have I heard being charged EXTRA for them to reset the notification

And she was the first associate to realize that they installed the wrong battery in my car. It took 5 hours for 1 tire replacement. I came in with an appointment at 1:00. They didnt even start until around 3:45 they ask me how to unlock the wheel and proceeded to take a another 20 minutes looking for the key that I had left on the passengers seat. I had to go over there to show them because they "couldn't find it." Whats the point of an appointment if youre not even gonna touch my car for another 3 hours and then take another 2 to change the wheel. I highly dont recommend to anyone. Just go to a mom and pop shop.

I brought my car in to have all five tires installed and balanced. My car was in pristine condition, but when I picked it up, there were fresh, deep scratches on the tailgate where the spare tire sits. I asked to speak with a manager that same day and was told none were available. When I finally spoke with the manager, they claimed they reviewed the indoor cameras and saw no equipment touch my car. I asked them to check the parking lot cameras where the worker moved my vehicle, only to be told they don’t have any cameras outside. Avoid getting your car serviced here. The staff is careless, and the management provides zero accountability. Your car deserves better than this place.

Communication with your customers is key. More so, making it right after lack of communication is an important opportunity to consider. Loyal customers are worth making for any business given their lifetime value increases. However, that all goes away (along with a healthy score on Google reviews) when that opportunity to make things right is passed up upon. I am sorry to leave this negative review, but I hope it saves someone else the time that can be wasted by a business such as Pep Boys in Long Beach. Good luck to you.

Unacceptable and inexcusable. I arrived for a scheduled oil change. They had me fill out paperwork for 30 minutes, then told me to wait 1.5 more hours. After wasting 2 full hours of my time, they suddenly said “we won’t do it today”—even though their tech was available and they were still open. This wasn’t a misunderstanding. I was clear I needed it today for a long trip, and they confirmed it. Because of their delay, I lost my only chance to get it done elsewhere. No apology can undo that. They knew, and they chose to waste my time anyway.

I had an excellent experience at the Pep Boys located at 4645 East Pacific Coast Highway in Long Beach, California! I went in for an oil change and a brake inspection, and they did a fantastic job. The staff was very friendly and professional, especially the receptionist, Desiree, who was incredibly kind and welcoming. During the brake inspection, they noticed that my rotors were uneven and offered me the best pricing and solution to fix the issue. The pricing was very reasonable, and they completed everything to the highest standard. They even stayed beyond their regular hours to ensure my car was ready on time. Overall, I’m extremely satisfied and highly recommend them!

In my initial experience there were major delays that through my life off track, that was followed by other issues. However in the end the management followed through with the work and price adjustment and my cars engine is in great clean shape.

Management is great the service was poor. I should not be called and told my car is completely fine, nothing wrong after getting it diagnosed. Then when I pay and go to my car it doesn’t start and the engine light is on. Actually make sure the car is ready for pick up. It save your time and the customers time. Management is respectful. But my cars engine light is still on after pay almost 1,000$.

So it is convenient to have a Pep Boys Auto Service center close by for those tire needs. We initially went in looking for tires to replace on our low speed vehicle aka the RTR mobile. They did not have access to the specific size replacement but they offered their service of installing them. She mentioned if I ordered them online I could conveniently have them shipped directly to their location. That was a great option for us. We ordered them online and had them sent there . Once we confirmed that they had arrived we set up an appointment so we would not have too much of a wait. We highly recommend this. Arrived on time and did not have to wait too long. They installed them and off we went. New shoes for our vehicle. It is not a common occurrence that they have a vehicle like ours there so it was amusing to the staff which were friendly. Quick note: they do not have a retail store anymore for all the car odds & ends.
