I CALLED THEM AFTER BEING RECOMMENDED AND I TOLD THEM MY ISSUE. I ALSO INFORMED THEM THAT MY CAR HAD BEEN SITTING FOR ALMOST 2 MONTHS. AND THE BATTERY WAS DEAD. SO IM GETTING IT TOWED THERE. THE WOMEN SAID OK THATS FINE BRING IT IN. NEXT DAY I GET IT TOWED IN I CHECK THE CAR IN AND GAVE HER THE KEYS. SHE TOLD ME THAT THEY WOULD BE IN CONTACT. A HOUR LATER WHILE I WAS AT WORK. SHE CALLS TO TELL ME THAT THEY CAN SELL ME A BATTERY FOR $300 DOLLARS BECAUSE MINE WAS DEAD. WHICH WE ALREADY DISCUSSED? I ASKED DID YOU JUMP IT? SHE SAID NO. WE DONT JUMP CARS WE CAN SELL YOU A BATTERY SO WE CAN WORK ON YOUR CAR. AND THEN TELL ME IF I DONT BUY BATTERY TO COME AND PICK MY CAR BACK UP IMMEDIATELY ITS IN THE WAY. IT WASNT IN THE WAY WHEN YOU WERE GETTING MY MONEY ?? I HAD TO GET TOW TRUCK TO PICK IT BACK UP. WHEN I CALL OTHER SHOPS THEY TELL ME THAT ITS NORMAL TO HAVE TO JUMP A CAR THAT COMES IN FOR REPAIR. AND THAT YOUR SHOP WAS TRYING TO GET MORE MONEY OUT OF ME BEFORE EVEN TRYING FIX MY CAR. BEWARE THEY ARE NOT HONEST AND LOOKING TO GET PAID OFF OF YOUR MISFORTUNE.

Went in with a problem of dying while running. Asked to check alternator and a general tube up. Instead of looking at the alternator they said I needed a brand new clutch, flywheel and battery. Got the car back after 2000 dollars and 2 weeks over ETA and died on the highway 3 days after with a failing alternator. Lost my business for good

HIGHLY RECOMMEND this place for it's professionalism and care for the customer. Was able to get my tire plugged on Labor Day when most of the places were closed. They opened for part of the day to at least help some customers. Way to look out for the customer.

We have all our car repairs done by Wayne. He is honest and diligent in his work. We support him not only because he is a military veteran, but mostly because of his integrity! He will charge you only for the work he did and nothing more.

I just left Thalia automotive. I had been there before for a tire that needed to be fixed. I believe he is the owner and lead mechanic of the shop informed me he could plug the damage but that it would more than likely need to be replaced. He was right. Two months down the line I've come again just to replace that tire. Well turns out all the tires are showing cord and even about to blow out. I can't afford to replace all the tires. This wonderful gentlemen out of concern for my safety gave me two used tires he had and replaced my bad ones. Nowadays you don't expect this kind of decency and humanity from our fellow human beings but this gentleman exhibited the kind of care that we should all show to each other. He fixed what I asked to be fixed but went above and beyond by repairing my other problem. If you have automotive needs I implore you to come to Thalia automotive. I'm not at all implying you'll get free service but you will get honest, dependable service from a decent human being who will fix your car right. And the receptionist is equally wonderful and sympathetic. Thank you to the folks at Thalia automotive.

The staff are really nice and it seems like they have a pretty good customer following. My experience was just okay. I had them do some work so that I could pass inspection. They changed the brake pads but didn't offer to resurface rotors or rotate the rotors so my brakes squeak now. I brought my car back and the owner was really nice. He looked at my car and suggested I replace my rotors each time I replace my brakes and that will help alleviate the squeaking noise. However, I don't know that this is an industry recommendation and to be honest, I don't know anyone who replaces their rotors each time they replace their brake pads. It wouldn't hurt to do this but the life of the rotors is longer than the pads which is why you typically need to replace the pads more often. Additionally, as long as I've ever owned a car, I've never had to replace my rotors every time I replaced my pads and I've had several mechanics work on my car. I'm not sure if this was just a recommendation he gave to me but this one statement has me a little uneasy about going back to be honest. Also replaced the control arm related to steering. I have some noises coming from steering area and he attributed it to the part I purchased which could be true. I bought the part brand new from Auto Zone. I'm not completely sure. He said that I could have a defective part or something. Thinking about buying a new part (better quality) and seeing if that helps the noise. I'll probably go get a second recommendation as well.

They are fast. The longest they ever had my car for repairs was about two hours. They are very knowledgeable and efficient in their work. As long as I work near them I will keep going to them for repairs work.

Honest and trustworthy. Whenever i hear someone complaining that they were taken advantage of by a mechanic , I immediately recommend them to Thalia automotive without reservation. Wayne the owner is professional, friendly and honest. I first met Mr. Wayne Jones (owner)several years ago. Priority Ford stated I needed brakes. I took my vehicle to Thalia automotive for the first time. Wayne looked at my pads, and showed me that i did not need brakes. He could have installed brakes and charged me since that's what I asked him to do. Instead he was honest with me and i have been his dedicated customer in all the years since that day.

Thalia Automotive was a lifesaver! They were able to diagnose and repair my car right before they closed on a Friday night. I was sure that it would have to stay in Norfolk over the weekend but thanks to Thalia, we were able to get back home! Great customer service and so friendly and trustworthy.

The most trustworthy mechanic ever. Knowledgeable beyond expectations. Fair and always looking out for the best interest of his customers. Your car will be done right, you will get a fair bill, and you never have to worry about him telling you that you need some work done that isn't necessary. Take it Wayne, your car will love you for it which will evident in the performance of your vehicle.

This shop was prompt, helpful, communicative, and in my opinion very honest. I was panicking and they were able to identify my problem and calm me down immediately. They even made adjustments to my steering afterwards with no complaints at all. I am so thankful to find a shop I like! By complete accident lol.

This is my auto shop for life, I have been with them for years and for a good reason. This shop has that hometown kinda feel. Where they remember you and they take great care of you and your vehicle as if you were family. No strings attached, fair prices, and excellent work. Hard to come by in this industry, but there is no shadiness here. Amazing customer service from the front desk to the mechanics. Thank you Thalia Automotive!

I’ve been going here for years, even when they were back in Virginia Beach before moving to norfolk, and I’ll always keep going to them. I realized I never gave a review until today so here it is! They’re always friendly, knowledgeable, fair pricing, honorable and great work, and have that “mechanic-next door” community feeling and very honest and good people! Thank you Wayne, Tanya and the other guys (sorry don’t know names!)

DO NOT use this shop!!!! These people are dishonest opportunists, preying on women and unsuspecting motorists! My car was overheating so I pulled over immediately and called AAA, Thalia Automotive was the closest shop to where I broke down at so I had the vehicle towed there. I received a phone call the next day telling me that the car was overheating simply because it didn’t have any antifreeze, however they claimed I had a significant oil leak coming from the vacuum pump. To make a long story short it’s been approximately 7 days, I’ve paid them roughly $750 and I’ve had to return the vehicle 3 separate times already and it’s still doing exactly the same thing! Each time I bring it back they come up with a different reason as to why it’s doing the exact same thing it’s been doing all along and claim that they need more money because its a new old problem that they just discovered!!!! These people are EXACTLY who they warn you about when talking about shady mechanics! I will see them in court!!!!

August 15, 2024 Service Date: Check engine light came on for a 2012 Hyundai Accent (hatchback) earlier that week and found code P0269 (fuel injector issues) and code P0130 (oxygen sensor issue). Probably happened due to the engine slowly dying due to the ongoing excessive oil consumption issue that I have been having. I took it in that morning and arrived before 8:00am (8:00am is when they open that day). Wanted just the four fuel injectors to be replaced to resolve the P0269 code. I was surprised when they took me in and said that the work can be completed same day and that they had capacity to do this. After all said and done, price was approx. $1240 (approx. $809 for parts and $425 for labor). Add the credit card fee and tax, and it came up to approx. $1340 - so it was okay/fair price-wise. Drop off at 8:30AM to pickup around 3:00PM. At time of service, mileage on vehicle was 125,458. Special thanks to Tonya and everyone who worked on the car. It's has been running great with no issues since the service. I did come back when the check engine light came back later that evening and found the P0269 code again, but the check engine light went away the next morning - and when I took it back to them to have them see if the P0269 error code was still there, it was not. So I think we were good. Who knows what that was. Regardless, they were all friendly, seemed very professional in their work, and I was satisfied with them. So I would recommend. UPDATE: Posting this review 3/13/2025: as of now, there has been no issues with their work.

Following an unsuccessful attempt to resolve a mechanical issue with my vehicle through a previous mechanic, I sought assistance from a different establishment. Despite my efforts to explain the problem to the receptionist, I was instructed to document the issues with the car. After towing the vehicle, I received a call informing me that the facility does not undertake unfinished work. When I inquired about alternative options, I was informed that they would not recommend any other service providers for this particular issue. In conclusion, if you are seeking assistance in a timely manner, it is advisable to explore other avenues.

Needed rear windshield glass replacement, Mr. Wayne recommended a shop that was able to see me short-notice, day before a MAJOR HOLIDAY, charge me a GREAT RATE, and had me on the road in 90mins. Great referral.
