Came to Bend to visit my daughter. As I was rolling into town, my car started making a squealing sound. I called Townsend Auto and Jesse told me to bring it in. He had it diagnosed and fixed within hours at a extremely reasonable price. I was so stoked and was able to spend the rest of my time with my daughter. My daughter is attending college in Bend and one evening she called me and said the car would not start and she was stuck. I don't live in Bend and I did not have anyone in Bend that I could contact to ask where I should have the truck towed. So I went on line and read reviews for auto repair in Bend. Excellent troubleshooting of dead vehicle on recent holiday, President’s Day, when other shops were closed. Able to receive my towed vehicle, identify problem, fix unique problem and have us back on the road heading home over mountain in 2 hrs. Great emergency service provided at a reasonable cost. Most of my life I've been fortunate enough to have a friend that was able to wrench on my car. Unfortunately, the day my dashboard lit up like a Christmas tree and my car died on an overpass, I didn't have such a friend. As I awaited Triple A to tow my trusty Subaru I panicked, I had no clue where to tell them to take my car. As my mind cleared I remembered someone referring me to Townsend's years ago and I figured why not. I called and left a message, voice shaking in fear that something awful had happened. Despite his bays and his lot being full, Jesse called me first thing Monday morning with a ton of empathy and a diagnosis. Just a fuel pump, no big deal. It turned out not to be the pump, but the assembly, but by trying the pump first he could have saved me a bunch of money. And, despite how much extra work he put into tracking down the issue he didn't charge me extra labor. I was already planning to bring my car in for what I thought was a U-joint issue and once he got my car running he quickly diagnosed it, called me to confirm we should order the part and told me when it would be in. I was delighted when he called me Friday afternoon to let me know that my part had come in and he'd been able to install it before the weekend, though I feel like he's the kind of guy who would have stayed late just to get me my car back. If you don't have a friend who can work on your car, the guys at Townsend's are the place to go because it's the next best thing. Their patience, empathy and care are unmatched. Jesse talked to me like a peer and explained things where I had questions where some mechanics might have assumed ignorance based on my gender. They seem to understand that building trust and earning repeat business is more important than maxing out billable hours on your rig. Fingers crossed they never have to touch my rig again, but I'll feel 100% confident if they need to.

This is a long overdue review. I can’t remember how I initially stumbled upon this auto shop, but thank god I did! I have came here for multiple vehicle repairs on different rigs over the last couple years and every time Jesse has quoted me a price, somehow my bill has been less. And honestly, his quoted price has still beat other shops… What I appreciate the most about Jesse’s work is that he has a very conservative approach to the way he does auto work. Jesse says “let’s start with this, and if this doesn’t work, we’ll go from there.” In this industry, a lot of the time auto work is theoretical. Not everything is cut and paste. So instead of signing me up for a bunch of repairs that I don’t absolutely need, he’s gonna get me out the door as cheap as possible. That being said, I really do trust this guy as a mechanic, and even to give me a good deal. Whoever is friends with Jesse in his personal life is a lucky to have him as a friend. My wife and I always joke about hooking up our single women friends with him, he’s literally that good No doubt I’ll be back in when I need auto services
