I highly recommend seeing Dereck at Subie Garage. I have a 2006 Subaru outback with 198,000 miles and originally, it seemed my car had a transmission issue which would have been around a $3,000 cost. Dereck discovered is was actually a bad driveshaft which saved me thousands of dollars. He also gave me the option to purchase a new driveshaft or save money getting a used one! My car has never ran so smoothly in the 2 years i've owned it. If you are looking for a trustworthy mechanic, don't go anywhere else!

Dereck is a competent experienced mechanic who respects you as his customer and tries to save you money by avoiding unnecessary repairs. He will explain everything he's doing and why he's doing it. He also does not charge exorbitant markups on parts, which many mechanic shops will do. I will only be coming to his shop in the future if my car needs any further work.

I recently hired Dereck to do a PPI (pre-purchase inspection) for a WRX I was buying in the Denver area. I live out of state so I asked Dereck to be as thorough as absolutely possible, to be my eyes/ears because I had to make the moves to buy this car basically sight unseen. The report he gave me was incredibly detailed and thorough (we chatted for half an hour hashing out the details), and even the seller was impressed with how extensive the inspection was. If you need a Subaru specific mechanic, especially someone assessing performance Subies like WRXs/STIs, this is your guy! I am so pleased with the experience, and also so bummed I don't live in the area or else he'd be my regular mechanic moving forward. 10 stars out of 5, if I could. Excellent service.

Derek definitely knows what he is doing, and his prices are reasonable. Especailly when compared with other shops and dealerships. Sometimes it is difficult to get a hold of him, but considering he is a one person operation, he does fairly well. He can do it all except for alignments and bodywork. Also his turnaround times are excellent with most stuff being finished the same day when scheduled ahead. If you have a Subie or even an Asian car, definitely look him up!
