I can't decide if this car care business suffers from incompetence or shady business practices...? I think it's both. Read the reviews, and go to the BBB website and see all the complaints. There are themes of both. A couple of weeks ago, my Honda with a AAA battery would not start. The mobile unit came out, tested the battery, found it was bad, and was about to change it out. Unfortunately he could not get the connector off the negative terminal. So I drove it to the AAA Kildaire location, expecting them to put in a new AAA battery because it was less than 36 months. When I arrived I told them I would wait. After a bit they called and said they think the starter is bad and they wanted $76 "to test it". I told them no. Then after another 30 minutes, they said they put a new battery on and the starter must be bad because their machine says "it pulls too many amps when starting". They added that my battery was NOT under warranty due to around 2,000 miles over the 36,000 allowance but it doesn't matter because my starter ruined it anyway. So they wanted $210 for a new 36-month battery plus whatever extra charges they might add. I told them no thank you, I'll take it to my mechanic, and then there some attitude about ok, we'll have to take it back off the new battery and put your old one on, but if you just replace the battery it will be ruined. I drove it to my trusted Honda-only mechanic. They charged it overnight and tested it the next morning, and said the battery was bad. I spent an extra $60 for a diagnostic (which they said wasn't needed but I wanted peace of mind) and they gave me a printout showing the amperage draw is right what it should be, for multiple starts. I paid $130 for an AC/Delco 42-month battery plus the $60 so the total was still less than a AAA 36-month battery. I will never buy a AAA battery again. I will never go to a AAA Car Care center again. They tried to talk me into additional costs and repairs, and they misdiagnosed = Shady business practices and/or incompetence.

When my AAA battery, still under warranty, started failing I came to this shop and asked them to do a battery test and replace the battery if necessary. They refused to simply test the battery. They insisted on charging a $75 fee to test the entire electrical system. They told me if it was the battery I'd be refunded the fee. That was unacceptable to me. My car is under an extended warranty and if there's a problem beyond the battery I'm going to get it fixed under warranty at the Honda dealer. All I needed was for them to do a 10-second test on the battery and they absolutely refused. So I took the CRV to Honda and they tested the battery and low and behold the battery is bad. But I don't want to deal with these guys from AAA again. I'll summarize it like this: customer service that is so bad I would pay hundreds of dollars to go somewhere else. Although I have been a AAA member for 40 years I will never come to a AAA service center again. This place is a disgrace to the name and reputation of AAA.

On Christmas Eve 2022 my son ran his Toyota 2009 Camry left front wheel into a curb at 25 miles per hour (at an angle) while turning right. The car had to be towed, so I called AAA to tow it to my house. On Tuesday, December 27, I took pictures of the damages and took them to AAA and talked with Service Consultant Ron Hamel. Ron advised me to “make sure that the frame is not bent (or damaged) because we can replace all of the parts, but if the frame is bent, it will need to be straightened at a collision shop or the car can never be repaired properly. From Ron’s advice I had it evaluated and our result was that the frame was OK. I then had my car towed by AAA to the AAA at Colonades where Ron was and (he) received it into one of his car bays at AAA to be evaluated. Ron called me the next day with a list of recommendations and costs. Within 48 hours, my son’s car was repaired and returned to me. Amazing service with the best advice (possible) in a very difficult time. Because of AAA and Ron, I was able to enjoy the rest of Christmas and the New Year! I have been using AAA for fifteen years. They have all my car records and if my son’s car has a problem when he returns to college, I can have it serviced at a AAA certified garage. Thanks Ron! Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

Drawn by its participation in Costco's 15% auto repair program, I took my 17-year old Nissan Frontier in for an engine tune-up (new spark plugs), When asked, I also agreed to their "platinum fuel service". I was NOT provided a repair estimate but based on my previous repair experiences, I assumed the bill would be in the $200-300 range (at most). So naturally I was stunned when my bill came to a whopping $1, 250!! The charge for each spark plug was $58.99 for a total of $353.54! A set of 6 Champion spark plugs can be purchased for less than $50. My car was in their care for a costly 3 hours (at most) and this time cost me $822!! As I was about to pay the bill, I inquired about the high amount and noted that they did not consult with me beforehand. To "console" me, I was offered a free oil change which I turned down, I followed up by phone with the area manager (Pete Bienko) and presented the situation and my great displeasure with such a gouging. He promised to investigate and get back to me. Three weeks later, I have still not heard from him. Strike this place off your list if you are wise.

Great service! They go above and beyond for you. They also have different levels of oil changes to help you care last a lot longer.

Took 2 hours for a basic oil change and tire rotation while I was the only person in the waiting room. Will not be coming back.

International driving permit! Great experience to get IDP. I got international driving permit in about 5 minutes from their travel agent. 12$ for pictures and 20$ for permit. No appointment needed.

Terry Smith at the Car Care Center on Colonades Way in Cary, NC is an excellent ambassador for your brand. While I have been to other AAA shops in the past, his customer service is notable. He assisted me throughout the entire process of my car repairs. From him answering my initial call, getting my car in quickly, going over the estimate of my repairs, and him being on site when I picked up my vehicle. I appreciate his professional demeanor, while still being personable and friendly. Car repairs can be daunting and anxiety inducing. He was able to put me at ease and guide me through. Having a shop you can trust is so comforting. Thank you for the the remarkable service Terry!

Great communications while they did an inspection and updates to my car. Called to let me know what they found and what needed to be updated. Very pleased with their work and impressed that they detailed it as well. Did not feel pressured to get something I did not need. that was a relief.

This is obviously a pattern at this location. I, like one of the other reviews listed, went to this location to get my battery tested. It is a AAA battery, still under warranty. Just like with the other review, the guy at the desk refused to simply test the battery. He indicated I would be charged a $75 fee to test the alternator. That was unacceptable so I left. I then called another AAA Car Care Center to ask about having my battery tested. When I asked if there would be a charge for that, I was told "no". I went to that location, was met with a friendly greeting, shared with the guy at the desk what I needed to have done, and he took care of it. The battery was tested, found to be bad, and it was replaced. I was in and out within 30 minutes or so. This needs to be dealt with. Who knows how many individuals may have been or are being taken advantage of because they don't know to say "No, I'm not doing that!".

I went Oct 23rd to get an oil change only to find out weeks later that I had 2 oil change related leaks and part missing and broken. It seems my truck had things done to cause future repairs that would have cost me thousands. Thankfully a reputable mechanic found the leaks and issues before it got bad. Do not go to this shop unless you stand at the bay your vehicle is in and watch them from beginning to end. This is the 2nd issue I've had with this shop but never again.

Nice folks, but they can’t manage appointments. Made an oil change appointment four days in advance, show up and they tell you it’s gonna be at least two hours. Jiffy Lube is right down the road. It took them 15 minutes.

Their integrity saved me over a thousand dollars! I came to AAA late one afternoon convinced that I needed a major repair and expecting to pay a large sum. The team got me an appointment for the next morning and examined my vehicle to discover that there was no evidence of a malfunction after all and that I had been given incorrect information elsewhere that lead me to believe a labor intensive replacement was necessary. Everyone I encountered here at AAA was kind, patient, professional, and extremely knowledgeable. Instead of getting a large repair bill to pay, I got to keep the money they saved me and learned a few new facts about modern cars along the way. Thanks very much to everyone that helped me out here.

Glenn is a ROCKSTAR. he always makes me feel welcome when I come to AAA at Waverly and is always honest and just a joy to work with when it comes to car things. As a female, sometimes it can be hard to find a trustworthy auto repair shop in Glen makes me feel right at home. Give this man a raise!!!!

For 7 years, this has been the place I trusted for auto repairs and service. A visit this morning has ended our relationship because of a service writer who treated me with disrespect and arrogance, when all I was asking for was a little help unscrewing a cap I could not do with my injured hands. To tell me what service I needed, and that he was the “trained professional “ without even knowing my background. Well. I’m done. The mechanics here are very good, but getting help as an AAA member is atrocious.

Believe the other reviews about their horrible appointment management. I booked a simple oil change and tire rotation first thing in the morning assuming they would not get backed up and would be an hour at most. Two hours later and I’m still sitting here. This is VERY common here from my experience and you would think I would have learned. Finding a new place from now on.

I’ve been taking my car here for years. They use to do good service. Not anymore. I took my car in for a simple oil change and rotation of my tires. Made an appointment a week ahead. It took two hours for my car to be serviced. Why even make an appointment. Appointment are so you can get in and out. You could have told me hey we’re running behind but no i call back in an hour they still haven’t even started. Told me they have but I’m calling from access the street and see my car. On top of that whoever did the service left oil stains all over the car. In and out. I want a manager to call me. ASAP
